|1 hour 25 min ago||They should be, but||
why are kickers rated so low? Very, very few even get 3*. If kickers are going to get scholarships and be counted in the rankings, shouldn't their ratings be in line with other positions? I know these services like to correlate ratings with pro potential, but kickers are at a big disadvantage in the NFL draft. Teams don't carry backups and their careers are unusually long. That has little to do with their importance to college teams.

They're going to two year schools, so they have no option but to transfer.
|1 hour 46 min ago||247 has him at the exact same size||
as Frank Clark in HS.
|7 hours 39 min ago||2nd string OT||
I'm guessing that the same player will be the primary back up for both starters.
|22 hours 25 min ago||I've got to disagree.||
It would have been much more interesting if he had won. Bad for everyone involved, but more interesting.
|1 day 9 hours ago||You're right about that Schembo.||
It's been pointed out to him before.
|2 days 56 min ago||The last recruit we got that size from Wisconsin||
went on to play QB. Most had him projected to a much different position too.
|2 days 1 hour ago||His brother is a potential 5* OL.||
He's currently #45 in the 247 composite.
|2 days 8 hours ago||If we had a roster full of guys who produced like Gallon,||
no one would be complaining about our record.
|2 days 11 hours ago||If you want to recruit high level players||
you simply can't redshirt almost everybody. Not only do most of them want to play right away, they also look at your track record for using true freshmen. A number of prospects have made this point in interviews.
I think Canteen plays on the outside, where his route running ability can be maximized.
|3 days 40 min ago||I think you should be counting Cole.||
The question was for the BBQ weekend.
|3 days 1 hour ago||Yes, exactly.||
I'll take the over.
|3 days 4 hours ago||MSU recruited Cole as a DB.||
I bet they can make a decent sales pitch for that. That makes this an even bigger recruiting win in my book.
|3 days 6 hours ago||Welcome Mr. Cole!||
Your timing is impeccable. This can only add to the atmosphere at the BBQ tomorrow.
|3 days 6 hours ago||We've just added to that list.||
Funchess, Ojemudia, Harris and now Cole, more than a fair trade for McDowell. MSU apparently didn't get the memo that winning cures all recruiting woes.
|3 days 10 hours ago||The best way to pay back OSU||
for stealing a local recruit from MSU? I think it's for us to steal one from MSU too, preferably one-upping them by getting a higher ranked prospect.
|3 days 22 hours ago||If the money is supposed to come from TV revenue,||
it wouldn't cost the small schools very much. MAC schools take in less than $80,000 a year from their TV contract. Most small schools are probably in the same ballpark.
|4 days 1 hour ago||All of the writers here are in favor of O'Bannon's case.||
The initial claim was pretty simple. The NCAA deserves to get slapped for licensing use of the players' likenesses without their consent. So far though, that's a pyrrhic victory for the players. In my uninformed opinion, the vast majority would prefer to be in those EA games without getting paid, than to have the franchise disappear.
I've yet to see Brian or any of his fine staff propose a coherent plan for distributing the 50% of TV revenue they would get. It's easy to be for paying the players more. Figuring out a good way to do so is not. Here are some questions.
1. How do you decide how much each school pays?
Would you have each school pay based purely on their own revenue, every school in a conference pay the same amount, every FBS school pay the same share of the total, or something else? How would you handle the revenue for post-season games?
2. How is the money to be split up among the players?
Do they all get equal shares, is pay based on class, or is their pay individually negotiated?
3. Are schools limited to the figure they're obligated to pay or can they go higher?
I'm working under the assumption that there will be players unions. They will also be negotiating issues like roster size and eligibility requirements
4. How should these unions be composed? One giant nationwide union for each sport, individual unions across multiple sports for each school, or something else? What about walkons? Do you prefer an alternative to player unions?
5. How would you handle schools that object to this system and want to opt out? Do they have to drop varsity football altogether or can they move to a lower division? What if networks still want to televise their games?
6. How would you treat athletes in sports that bring in revenue at their particular schools, but not nationwide, like hockey?
I think some of the pro-NCAA arguments are difficult to make in the absence of a specific plan. There's usually fear of change, especially when that change could take many different forms, with quite different repercussions. It's easy to make sport of competitive balance concerns by throwing Indiana State out there. It's not so easy if a Notre Dame or Texas can pay far more than anyone else, including us.

Cosidering what happened here the last time a coach came in here and changed the "country club atmosphere" that some decried, that's very funny.
|4 days 7 hours ago||Two more dismissals were added to the story||
since you posted the link.
|5 days 1 hour ago||"very, very soon"||
That sounds an awful lot like this Sunday to me.
|5 days 1 hour ago||I believe Sam was in contact||
with people who cover Alabama that thought McMillon was a plan B recruit for them. Since he was planning to commit soon, his timeline didn't match up well with theirs.
|5 days 5 hours ago||I know we're not allowed call each other names here.||
It's impolite and lowers the level of discourse.
But you're an idiot.
|5 days 8 hours ago||I'd add Drew Smyly.||
I'd add Drew Smyly.
|6 days 22 hours ago||What's to stop them, or any other foreign teams,||
from poaching college players mid-season? Unlike this signing, that would be a big problem for college basketball.
|6 days 22 hours ago||Schools picking which 66 of them qualify||
would be a nearly impossible and bloody process.
|1 week 22 min ago||yes and no||
We'll be seeing even more competition for a lot of our recruits. We're already starting to go up frequently against the schools that take those one and dones.
|1 week 2 hours ago||Using such offensive language||
isn't a good way to make a point about being offended.
|1 week 3 hours ago||It hasn't been long since he could have||
gone straight to the NBA. I don't think that was a time free from shady dealings in the college game. If you were to take the top 20 players off the table, wouldn't college programs and their boosters want the next 20 just as much? Probably even more, since they're less likely to be one and done.
|1 week 7 hours ago||Most basketball players are pretty skinny,||
especially guards. Let's not forget that Caris played awfully well last season. Adding some muscle is good, transforming his body type is not necessary.
