What really got to me was the replay they showed before half that Michigan was spotted two or three yards behind where the interception before that non-td call occurred. That is referee malpractice.
so that makes it - mispotted ball where the Michigan player never even was to begin with and the missed touchdown. Back to back..
Sadly I’m Hoping they don’t put Buckeyes in as a 4 now. Assuming we win next week we may pair well as a 2-3 with TCU. If OSU shocks UGA I don’t know if my ticker could handle it.
one game at a time, beat Pur-who and let the rest sort itself out. Onward and upward!
Same boat as you historian. In the 67-65 debacle known as UM v. IL I remember getting on the ground and praising the gods that M won. Today I held out and kept holding out until i knew it was mathematically impossible for them to come back. Damn it feels good but that cautious optimism is a tough thing to beat! Great job M!!!!!
It was likely a game management decision. If Michigan kicks the field goal and makes it then Michigan kicks off to Army with a lot of time left. Army would then play up tempo option, which Michigan struggled to defend all day, playing for the touchdown. Instead Coach Harbaugh rolled the dice and the gamble was easing Army into a “let’s play for field goal” spot where they ate more time on the clock and had to rely on a freshman kicker. In hindsight it was the right call. But he makes 7.5 million to make that call, not me. Game management. Cahones. He did it, Michigan won, onward and upward.
The refs were against MI’s offense again. The holding call on Shea’s read option was absolute nonsense. Hopefully Harbaugh gets on the B1G to stop this pattern from across the season.
Never going to happen but if ESPN really wanted to make a statement they would not air any MSU games next season and, instead, air women’s soccer or an equivalent.
Has no one introduced you to Kramarczuk’s on east Hennepin?! I feel bad for you brother. Make the trip today if you have time. They’ll have all the polish fare your eastern bloc heart desires
The announcer’s continuing to make something of Muschamp and Harbaugh being hot heads is ridiculous. Ooh they got yelled at in the locker room, big whoop.
But the narrative since the beginning was this is the hot head outback bowl. ESPN!!
The 10 other men in Blue seemed to respond to the energy the fan base and Peters brought in after the switch. Not that they’ll ever admit it but I’m curious if O’Korn lost the huddle and Harbaugh sensed it after the second dropped snap. Historically a 7-7 tie has not been the ideal time to bring in a Freshman but with the team not responding well at the time the timing was ripe for a switch. Best thing that could have happened was that first complete pass. After that was just a team playing ball together.
Either way, Rutgers is just one game. Time for the team to get better 1% better today than yesterday and move onward and upward.
Curious about the challenge MN will bring next weekend with Fleck in charge.
Average with a healthy QB and experienced Running Backs and returning receivers may be just enough to turn in an 11 win season though.
I am by no means knocking this team - I feel 9 wins is the ceiling, as tough of a pill that is to swallow... this is just a function of a developing OLine.
Elite takes you to playoff considerations but average next year might get us to the next level, at least.
Building from the rubble Hoke left takes time and patience. At least we have a coach like Harbaugh who said to his staff when he arrived, I believe, “we have to get this right” (credit JUB)
It is a valid point you bring up about misdemeanors versus felonies. But, I think the bigger question should be how he has continued to plea to lesser charges. Eventually it is going to catch up to him and here it just might.
My biggest issue isn’t this one but, per the article, if my math is correct he was 20 when pulled over with an open container. Not saying I wouldn’t have been as lucky to get out of such a charge but I know many legal adults in that scenario do not escape open containers as drivers.
Eventually the eye needs to turn to how law enforcement handles these issues with the University. I don’t know if Harbaugh would respond differently but after the sixth time I hope he would take a stand. Heck after the second he likely would!
All that to say this is our luck this would happen after the monsoon of 2017....
Don’t write off the Wolfpack of NC State. They’re a strong team with a wicked defensive line. I hope they’re going to trounce ND when they play them in a few weeks.
Dave Doreen (former WI assistant, go figure) has done a great job with them.
Interesting targeting call on #4. Bang bang play and TE changed his direction as running. Looks like letter of the law is the policy this season. Changed momentum and now Nebraska gets a TD!
Living up here people aren't fond of the athletic department and a lot of people didn't understand Claey's decision to openly support the players but understood why he did it. Admittedly that does take some Hudzpah. This late in the cycle I don't know who they could realistically reel in unless it was times for Fleck/Kelly. Big gamble.
Per NCAAs total offense/defense stat compilation FSU is ranked 30th in total defense and 25th in total offense. Not exactly a cupcake but I accept the points provided.
If true, and I have no reason to doubt you, then these facts would be troubling. Emotion aside, need to look at the facts and this set of facts, prior to the game, should be brought up. That's all.
Game over, onward and upward to the next championship opportunity!
I look forward to the years ahead when fans are "no longer worried." Seems like a long time ago when the Michigan faithful went into The Game expecting victory. Soon enough...soon enough.
Another B1G ref screw up. PI should've been called on the OT 3rd down play when Westerkamp was tackled by Watt(?). Total missed call that potentially changed the outcome. Hopefully we aren't witnessing the "reffing" becoming BIGXII-esque...
I put this comment elsewhere in response to someone saying Dantonio has bitterness in his heart towards Michigan and it showed on the two point attempt. I agreed. The only reason to go for two is knowing you're going to lose but still want to say you went for two and got it because you really are the better team despite the loss. It was a mental deal at that point and It just failed for him and his bitterness cost him in the end
No way would I second guess the coaches based on what they saw on the field. I do wonder what they saw, though, when they called that run play with Morris as QB that wasn't a sweep in the fourth. Trying for MSU to overplay the sweep motion, sure, but if you're going all in there just run read option. Again, though, easy since I am on the couch and not a coach!
Has anyone else noticed how large we look this year? I remember RR saying one time that ND could eat peanuts off of our lineman. It is nice to see us have a size advantage again.
Never exists on game day but with hindsight we should appreciate that, save the Wisconsin game in RR's first season, we really haven't seen MI not give up and roll over in a long time. Amazing how one coach can change a culture that well.

best moment of 2023- Rose Bowl win.
67-65 M-IL shootout was too wild for me

RUBBISH!
You mean like the Scott Frost out hit us joke?
Saved my annual log in for this. Thank you for mentioning and allowing me to also vent about the run it’s course Frost joke.
Go Blue

Other than a few high and outside early my hot take is Peters he looks good all day. Another off season to train and we might have a keeper!
The pass to Crawford across the field was spectacular
Didn’t have to do much re: creativity. Running the ball like that makes it easy (about the only thing those awful announcers got right).
Hopefully some of those plays set up a play action offense against Wisconsin...
Ties to FL, return to roots, highly regarded despite Texas wild fire, doing well at USF.
Thoughts?

Eichorst was the problem at Nebraska. Now that he is gone a better coach should want to come in. Problem is Scott Frost has been mentioned (sigh)...

FSU is a scary opponent when healthy. Deondre Francois is elusive and earlier in the season was very effective - see Miami game.

Interesting "second" game to watch in Nevada and San Jose State. Connections out west other than Kaepernick's old team or dreamy Al Gorgeous Borges?
This, for sure. Was not too shabby without Brown.
Plus the Richardson brothers, remember them? Way underutilized
Oh and Demar D... oh, n/m
His team is seemingly quitting against our bird string . M can't take a knee every play fergodsakes
