I think you dissolve the franchise to end the torture of the fans and players.

Put 'em in the cool blue and other colors division

Put 'em in the cool blue and other colors division. We've just added two more ugly-ass red teams.

No Oklahoma

No Oklahoma. B1G has too much ugly-ass red already. Just added two more. No more red teams please.

The present participle and

The present participle and the gerund have the same form, so it's not a mistake. The roots are ultimately verbs from which nouns (gerunds) can be derived. So, the participial forms are more basic because they are still verbal.

Boo Ya! It's great to have

Boo Ya! It's great to have another present participle on the roster in Ian Bunting. Now we need to flip Quin Blanding. Of course, this is all led by the double Channing Stribling.

My divisions have always

My divisions have always been, especially once we added two more ugly-ass red teams with Rutgers and Maryland:

Ugly-ass Red Division      Better-looking Division

Nebraska                                       Michigan

Ohio State                                     Penn State

Wisconsin                                     Iowa

Indiana                                          Northwestern

Maryland                                       Purdue

Rutgers                                         Illinois

Minnestota                                    Sparty

Yes, scarlet, crimson, cardinal, and even maroon are all just types of red (Minnesota is a little bit of a stretch, but close enough).

Too many of the prominent football teams around the nation are red teams, and I'm just sick of it.

Basketball, on the other hand, is often dominated by blue teams more than red ones (UK, KU, Duke, UNC, UCLA, UCONN, etc)

I say put Purdue in the East.

I say put Purdue in the East. We already have way too much ugly-ass red in our division to add Indiana!

I had to watch the whisker part about 6 times. That was too funny, and his reaction was great. Makes you wonder if Karsh missed a spot shaving and Barnum couldn't stop staring.

Good for Bolden

Hasn't he been trying to get out there for a while? I seem to recall he was denied transfer requests before, no?

This was a great read by the blog's consistently funniest.

The main flaw, or inaccuracy

The main flaw, or inaccuracy rather, of the article is that he mentions Brian Kelly's red-faced tirades, when in reality they are purple-faced tirades.

Twitter is a novel way to present oneself in public, but it is set up for instant unmeasured release. This means people are going to screw up on it, and each of these kids is still a few years away from having a fully settled (adult) frontal cortex. Twitter is a recipe for trouble here.

The out of conference games

The out of conference games are too important and exciting to do this. 9 conference games is too much and hurts the conference nationally because of the higher number of necessary losses. Look at the PAC10 before and the BIG12 now.

You may on to something

I think it was Payton who a couple months back said something like he was hoping to get a group of big name recruits all to commit to one place, something "fab-5 style". Remember?

Hint hint

boo ya

boo ya! Thanks

I had to watch the whole game

I had to watch the whole game on TV from Texas, and the sight of the scene at the Big House was beautiful and other-worldly from what one expects at Michigan. The design of the lights is very slick, a thin bright line atop the towers. The blue in the crowd blends into the night and the maize is highlighted by the lights. The pom-poms added a lot too. The whole place was a living, moving, screaming maize mob.

The 4th quarter got so intense I had to leave the room once to focus on my breathing because I thought I might be on the edge of having a heart attack. Seriously, it was nuts.

I think it would be  very intimidating to opponents and very attractive to outsiders and potential recruits. Colin Cowherd is a bit of a ballbag, but his take on it right at the beginning of his interview with Hoke sums up how it would look to an outsider (Herd doesn't typically talk much or seem to care much about Michigan as far as I know.): http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=6965847

Rain favors us

If Notre Dame's sloppiness in week one and our relative unsloppiness (ball security) of week one carry through at all, I think the rain will exacerbate their woes.

AAVE grammar

Neither Omameh or Brian were out of line about Denard's speech, but just to clear up something...

"He be speaking Florida" is not an ungrammatical use of "be". It is a fully regular and grammatical use of "be" in the dialect of English that is sometimes called African American Vernacular English.

AAVE "He be speaking Florida" = Standard American Eng. Habitual mood, 'he speaks (habitually) Florida'

AAVE "He speak Florida" = Standard American Eng. Progressive aspect, "he is speaking Florida"

Woolfolk is key

Woolfolk isn't an all conference corner, but he is a senior and a vocal leader. He has sound technique and seems poised to play with a fanatical toughness. In that sense, he is the best corner we have.

That highlight video

that would be seriously stressful if I were a Notre Dame fan. What a bunch of sloppy mistakes.

They updated much more than the format

According to the site, there are many more prospects "considering" Michigan than there were for a long time. It seems like to ESPN "considering" means 'has mentioned'.

The committed dates are all out of whack still.

The offers list and visit dates are an excellent upgrade.

dreads

We need a fresh influx of dreads. Not many of the new commits have them...

I was more excited about Watkins than Crawford back then, and I think Yuri Wright would be the best CB to add if any.

Yes

Thanks!

Who dat?

Who is Mattison praising from 4:30-6:00?

Not sure where to sleep, but

Make sure to eat at some of the seafood places on Lynnhaven Inlet - Chick's Oyster Bar, Dockside Inn, etc... There is some serious fresh fish selection in that part of the world.

Rawls sounds tremendous

Thomas is a tremendous kid and a tremendous athlete that will play with great toughness, accountability, and physicality.

Something reliable would be great

The dark pirate internet sites are great, but they get shut down after a while by the department of Homeland Security of all things. Just something reliable with staying power is all I want.

Posada seems like a great kid

Posada seems like a great kid with a lot of potential. He'll have a lot of competition with the 2012 OL guys and probably the 2013 guys too. If he's motivated and learns well, he could start for a couple of years.

I'd hate to get hit by this guy. Really, I wouldn't want to get hit by anybody, but this guy causes pain.

This kid has a nasty side

He smears his opponents.

That's the

The 14th team...

That's the problem. The SEC West can expand westward without the risk of losing many of their regional recruits to the new member (in this case A&M). The new SEC East school (member #14) would be someone some team(s) already share a home recruiting ground with. They can't expand east to the Bahamas. The SEC East will be resistant to adding A&M unless the concomitant 14th team comes from N.C. or further north. My guess is that is why A&M was not invited.

Nice animation.

Holy smokes!

I'm sure Fred Jackson usually praises his players, but you could not give more positive feedback than that. Superlatives. This is exciting to read. Thanks.

I feel the same

The first interview he gave, the one where he is sitting in his office, did not impress me at all. Now that he is working with the team and getting into playing football at Michigan, I am very excited about him. His speaking style annoyed me at first but I like it more and more the more interviews I hear.

Hold your stones?

You should be stoned. If I had more points, I could downvote you. I'm sure others will when they see how you got those points.

Texas is up there

Texas is a highly accredited university. It is the same size or bigger than tOSU and more or less at Michigan's level with academics.

Please edit - Bill Powers

In the penultimate paragraph, you wrote Larry Powers instead of Bill Powers as UT President.

One other option... stop the bleeding

This is a great post that goes in and out of a lot of thoughtful detail.

One other viable option is for the Big 12 to grab TCU before it ever gets to the Big East. Geography and competitiveness  make TCU a good fit.

The Longhorn Network would still be a destabilizing force for the Big 12, but not for the other teams as much as it is/was for A&M.
