He worked hard his whole life for his scholarship. If people are upset about it because they didn't get the scholarship then maybe they can work harder. There are way too many people that think things should be just given to them. It has been an issue for a long time, but it has gotten a lot worse over the past few years. I didn't get an athletic scholarship, but I wasn't the athlete that these kids are.
I would definitely go to a school that provided me a scholarship over most schools that only offered me a walk on opportunity. There are coaches that will play a scholarship athelete over a walk on just because they don't want to hurt their pride. They don't want to admit that a walk on player is better than the kid they gave a scholarship. I am not saying that all coaches or colleges work this way, but it definitely does happen.

I don't think it is very wise to say that you expect to have around 40 violations. I know you are going to have some and everyone else will too, but I would still say that I hope for 0 violations. This is after the stupid comment from Gordon Gee saying that he just hopes Tressel doesn't fire him. These guys are at some of the highest levels for the university and they say things like that. Pryor probably felt that he actually had to talk at a lower grade level just to fit in with the rest of the student atheletes there.

I think there is definitely more to the story. There are rumors that the kids went to a Buffalo Wild Wings and were served beer and given food for free. I don't understand how the guy is not a booster if this is true. I really hope the kid is ok. It honestly has to be really stressful to him. I definitely don't wish for anything like this to happen to anybody even if they are committed to Ohio. I think the media and some of the crazy fans should leave him alone for a while so he can concentrate on other things for a little while.

I really get tired of hearing the same questions every single press conference. The only enjoyment I get out of it is when Hoke makes a really smart comment back. I think the whole short sleeve questions are actually kinda personal after the first time asking the question. If I was Hoke I would stop even answering the question. I would just go right on to the next question.

I grew up and my hometown is about 40 miles east of Columbus. 99% of the people there are Ohio State followers including my family. I grew up following Michigan mostly because of my cousin who happened to live right behind my house. He was also a big Michigan fan and is still today. Later I started to really see how arrogant the Ohio State fans are. I would be forced to listen to the call in shows and listen to everyone act like Ohio State was the best school in the country every year. Every time they lost they always had some crazy excuse for it. Every time they lost they wanted to fire the head coach or it was because of a bad call made by the referees. They were never simply overmatched.
I think the real hatred came when Ohio State got blew out by Florida in the national championship. The excuse I would always hear from everyone was that if Ted Ginn did not get hurt that they could have won the game. I could not believe what I was hearing. I do not think he could have made up for 41-14 loss.

Sorry for the double post.

We were outcoached and outplayed in every part of the game. The good news is that all of the problems we had can be resolved from coaching. We have good coaches. I support our coaching staff 100%. I may not agree with every call they make, but that is why I am not making the big dollar that they do. I am sure that Purdue will try to use the same tactic against us that MSU did. We will see how our guys respond.
I admit that it hurt a lot losing the game the way we did. I am just not ready to give up after one game. Not many teams can go undefeated through a whole season. We should just move on and concentrate on the next game which is in two weeks. I hope Michigan comes out ready for Purdue and makes a statement that Michigan will not fold.

I do not understand how his silence could have anything to do about the safety of his players. The last thing I would think is if I stay silent and allow my players to keep playing without any punishment that it would be the safest thing to do when it involves a drug dealer's federal investigation. He should have at least tried to get some additional legal guidance from the school. He was definitely more worried about winning than his players safety.
|4 years 35 weeks ago||Unfortunately, none of this surprises me at all.||
I lived in Columbus for 2 years. I lived in a small city called Zanesville, Ohio before the rest of my life besides the 4 years in Japan. Zanesville is about 45 miles east of Columbus so they are also huge OSU fans. It is really sad that OSU literally controls Columbus. Columbus will never have a big money making sports team except for OSU. As I was growing up I saw how ignorant the OSU fans were so I became a Michigan fan. I also had a cousin that was like a big brother to me who was a big Michigan fan. I would hear every excuse imaginable about why they lost a game. It didn't matter how bad they were outplayed there was one reason that they lost the game. If you don't believe me then ask an OSU fan why they lost that national championship game against Florida. I gaurantee that they will say it was because they lost Ginn. I have almost gotten into fights I do not know how many times because of ignorant OSU fans. They are completely ignorant about every college sports team other than OSU. This story by Brian is a classic example of why I am and will always be a Michigan fan.
|5 years 25 weeks ago||I also made a lot of mistakes||
I also made a lot of mistakes as a kid that just never got caught. The one thing that saved me was when I joined the military and got away. Dorsey may just need the same thing. I know that some people are going to disagree with everything that RR does but the kid should be left alone. I find it really disheartening that grown adults will put a college recruit down just to show their dislike of RR. I honestly did not think the media would go to that level.

I think he is just going there to have a fun time. If I was a highly recruited player I would go to all of my official visits if I could. Scout said to not really look too much into it. They just had to change it to a soft verbal because of the visit. His brother did not go with him.
|5 years 27 weeks ago||New information from Scout||
I have a membership to Scout. I saw on one of their premium boards some really good news about our chances with Parker, and Dorsey. There is also some information about the possibility of who the next linebackers coach might be. I don't know all of the rules about posting all of that here so if someone else has a membership they can post it on here. http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=162&f=1088&t=5502225

I think our defense will be better or at least as good next year. I think Warren was a decent DB. To be honest, I don't think he was that great. He just looked so much better than anyone else we had playing and that wasn't saying much. If you look at a lot of his interceptions they were throws that no one else was even around him. He would have been much better off staying his senior year and maturing a litting more. I still wish him the best of luck and hopes he has a very productive NFL career.
BG is going to hurt us a lot. He was a true beast on the line. We have a lot of ground to make up for his absense. We can't completely replace his productivity on the line, but we will have to make up for it in other positions.
Brown is also an average defender that we will actually miss but not a whole lot. I think if he had an extra year then he would have been a great player. People seem to underestimate the difficulty with learning a new defense every season.
|5 years 35 weeks ago||I am tired of||
the media always trying to hit Michigan when they are down. They are all trying to twist everyone's words and use information that is inaccurate. There are a lot of stories out there about Rich's press conference after the OSU game. They are all trying to make Rich look like he is the devil or something. Of course if Michigan would some how win the Big 10 next year then they will all be saying that they were telling everyone to just be patient. I actually agree with everything Rich said in his press conference. I just hope the players and recruits don't read all of this negative press and believe all of it. I know that OSU is scared because they know that if Michigan gives Rich time that their streak of beating Michigan will be gone and reversed. They know that they will not be able to compete with that much speed.
|5 years 35 weeks ago||Gardner||
I think you are getting the wrong impression here. Just because someone says that he needs to redshirt does not mean that we don't support him or that we don't think he is good. If he redshirts it should not be thought of as a sign of punishment or that he is not any good. It is about getting the most out of Gardner and teaching him more about the game. Normally, both Tate and Denard would have redshirt. The only reason they didn't is because Rich was not comfortable with playing Sheridan and Cone the whole time. Gardner could be the best quarterback as far as talent goes but he is also a freshmen and has a lot to learn about the game. He has to learn all of the plays and how to read the defense better. There is a very good reason why very few freshmen start at quarterback.
|5 years 35 weeks ago||I don't think||
they are bashing Devin Gardner. I don't think there is any problem at all if he does redshirt. It seems like people think that if he redshirts that it means he is not good enough. All it means is that they see some things that they would like for him to fix so that he can become an even better quarterback. We have Forcier and Robinson next year so it allows Gardner to develop more. The scouts have even said that he is very raw and has not had very good coaching. I honestly think he should redshirt and then let him compete for the job the following year. It is not good to start a freshmen quarterback every year. A lot of his ratings are due to his ability. It is known that he can become an excellent quarterback but that does not mean he would be his freshment year. Not coming in early does not help his chances much either.
|5 years 36 weeks ago||I think the reason Rich Rod||
I think the reason Rich Rod pulled him out of the game was because he was very disgruntled after the interception. There is no point in putting him back in there disgruntled so he can throw another interception and really lose confidence. Forcier's problem now is that he tries to do too much at times. Putting him back in there right away would have made him try to force another ball. He is going to be a great quarterback and I also think Robinson will be too. It is going to be tough to decide who to play in the future at Michigan with Garnder also coming.
|5 years 36 weeks ago||I agree. The OSU guy should||
I agree. The OSU guy should not have walked into him. I think it is too much for an OSU player to be able to walk and listen to his Ipod at the same time. They are not that coordinated.
|5 years 36 weeks ago||I saw it||
It looked like to me the Ohio State player should have just gotten out of the way. Hahaha...
