I did the Insider/magazine combo a couple years ago

and found the magazine to be really useless and a waste of paper. Example: They have a column on "Mike & Mike's take on..." some subject like Bret Favre. It's an exchange that would take 2-3 minutes of air time on the radio but they make it into a "column" and pass it off as magazine content. They're practically giving it away because they put no effort into writing or photography (like SI does) and convince advertisers that they're getting a lot of eyeballs.

I don't remember ever feeling glad I had the "Insider" info either, but that's just me.

Aye!

At first glance I totally thought you simply put John Goodman's entire Gale Snoats fr. Raising Arizona head on Hoke's shoulders. ABSOLUTELY he should grow the chops.

Ok, good press conference; Denard is staying.

Time for a new banner that doesn't make our coach look like a fool, Brian. PLEASE.

(Using Brady Hoke's Chris Farley voice):

Brian, for the LOVE OF GOD take the disrespectful CC'11 banner down. No longer funny.

Jim Tressell, welcome to getting your ass kicked. Hoke is the fat jock bully and you, sir, are the bespectacled, sweater-vested nerd puss.

Presser: "MY NAME IS BRADY HOKE. I AM 57 YEARS OLD. I AM MARRIED AND WE'RE WILLING TO LIVE IN A VAN DOWN BY THE HURON RIVERRRRR!" (Pssst, Brady: Inside voice! And ... ever thi
I'm going to post this in every thread I'm able...

Change the banner back or to something more positive now, please.

Banner

Suggest either changing back to the original MGoBlog banner now, or shift to something better for the MBrand. The CC'11 banners were awesome but now I think it's time to get behind our coach and not make him look like an idiot alongside Chuck and kittens while we continue the usual pos/neg discourse.

Les is a man. He's 57. Rest

Les is a man. He's 57. Rest of B1G, welcome to getting your ass kicked.

Jim Tressell welcome to

Jim Tressell welcome to getting your ass kicked.

Come to think of it, Hoke

Come to think of it, Hoke looks a little like Jon Favreau. I can see him checking his messages every five minutes. So who, then, is Vince Vaughan?

The UM booster plane looks

The UM booster plane looks like it was designed by the same folks who rigged up the Minotaur monster truck from 'Role Models.' Awesome.

Farley vs. Garlin

Why do I like Gary Patterson because he looks like Chris Farley, but I don't like Brady Hoke because he looks like Mike Golic or Jeff Garlin? I think it means if Brady Hoke had Patterson's record, I'd like Jeff Garlin.

Hoke Indiana Minnesota

I still don't have Hoke anywhere near the top of my list but the whole Indiana-Minnesota thing is kind of weak. Boy, good thing they didn't hire Hoke! He surely would have caused them to miss those bowl games they played in this year! Instead, they rode the success of their alternate hire to 9-4 and a bowl win, did they?

Ha, posted mine just after

Ha, posted mine just after yours ... will definitely be watching the KU game tomorrow if we don't hear anything more definitive.

Field of Dreams

The line between reality and the absurd is blurred beyond recognition now, so what the heck: Maybe Bowlsby (Stanford AD) talked Luck into saying he's staying to entice JH to listen to a new offer. If JH still says "no thanks," Luck has until January 15 to declare what he's really doing. Why wouldn't he have taken that extra week to decide?

Which means Jim Harbaugh could come to Michigan after having done a THOROUGH evaluation of all possible options including his current school and three storied NFL franchises: One in his Bay Area backyard, one with a Michigan alum owner, and one with a Stanford hero alum (uh) consultant/front office guy. "No one can claim that I didn't do my homework before making this decision ... but I am a Michigan Man."

Didn't I see a rumor posted that Harbaugh would be announced at halftime of tomorrow's Kansas MBB game? Imagine... "Is this heaven?" "No ... it's Michigan."

My criteria is who matches up

My criteria is who matches up best against Tressell.

1. Jim Harbaugh

2. Dan Mullen

3. Brian's Patterson / Petersen / Wittingham triplets

6. Les Miles with English as DC and Loeffler as OC

Distant 7. Hoke with English as DC and Loeffler as OC

N/A Any pro coaches like Gruden or Dungy (please) seems too gimmicky

N/A Big college names like Urban Meyer don't see right either, however if we don't get Harbaugh and the alternate coach only lasts 3 years again, maybe Meyer and Harbaugh will be available again.

"Missouri which looked better..."

"...and should have beat Iowa." What about GARY PINKEL??!? I'm shocked that even the most expansive coach-candidate lists have not included him. He's run a decent, winning program that should have been in the BCS instead of Kansas in '07; his offense would be a good "transitional" system for UM's current talent and he's been 150-86-3 in 20 years in the FBS -- 10 years at Toledo, 10 years at Missouri (so yes, he's a little on the old side). Plus for good measure he was the OC for Don James and Washington during their 1990-91 MNC runs.

Thank you for what you did

Thank you for what you did for the Mealer family. About the whole Josh Groban thing, and anyone who thinks your soft because of it is a punk. Coaches are supposed to care about their players, not what music is cool. It was a little weird at first but when I read your players' reaction to it, I got it. I join most everyone else on this string in wishing you the best of luck.

Anyone know how...

... to play a YouTube video in reverse? I'm thinking "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" on rewind.

Sounds plausible to me.

Today's leak could be a result of DB trying to make Rosenberg look bad. I like the "test balloon" theory, and you're spot on with the "moving the OSU" game comparison. At the end of the day, if Harbaugh does not want to come to UM for any amount of money, then there is nothing DB can do. But he was WORTH waiting for, worth a shot, and that required DB to wait until after Stanford's bowl game (and possibly save $1.5 mil in the process). I won't believe it until I hear it from JH or DB that this isn't happening -- we all remember that Herbstreit Saturday fiasco in 2007 -- maybe this is a karmic reversal of that time when for a few hours we thought we had Les Miles. But if JH truly is not coming, I hope (ugh) that DB just sticks with RR for another year. He was our best chance for a good season next year anyway. If he improves to 9 or 10 wins, extend his contract a bit more. If he wins 8 but loses the bowl or worse, then look at who's available next year, a Chris Peterson perhaps. I'm very unhappy with every element of what RR has done, even Denard (not DR himself or his talent, but the way he's utilized), but with a new DC, better depth all around, more experience, and a slightly easier schedule next year (not to mention a decent recruiting class that could still ultimately include Dee Hart), I think all other candidates (actually, singular, candidate, there is only Brady Hoke) need to be taken off the table. Now we continue to wait. My preferences are A.) Harbaugh. B.) RichRod C.) Ok, give Harbaugh $8 mil and Bill Martin's charter boat.

This day could get

This day could get worse. Harbaugh goes to the 49ers instead of Michigan. Mallett and Arkansas (instead of Michigan) light up Ohio State. RR is either fired anyway or says screw it and goes to Pitt. Denard transfers and follows. Mallett's performance tonight places him at just about the spot on the draft board where the 49ers take him. Yesterday it was birds and fish dying in Arkansas, today it is puppies and kittens in Michigan.

There. Now what ACTUALLY ends up happening won't seem so bad.
