that's unfortunate, but at least the interest is there on both sides

Michigan MET is a prepay program. I buy tuition NOW at todays dollards for my 9yr old and 12 yr old.
That is exactly what I described.
To ignore the downside is foolish.
MET: Buy tuition at todays rate.
If education costs don't go up..........you didn't lose anything
If educations costs go up........you are guaranteed the rate of education.
If you don't use it you get your funds back.
No distribution issues, no issues with market correction, etc.
It is exactly what I mentioned.
|1 week 1 day ago||Problem is when you need the money||
What if you had to withdraw in 2000,2001,2002 2008.
YOu cant use long term historicals and just say its up. When you take distributions is the variable that you cannot control. I prefer control and options. If I had a mutual fund that could guarantee returns pegged to increase in health care or education without a risk of loss I would have billions under management.
THe asset allocation argument doesn't work in this situation because bonds are way underperforming education increases AND they have interest rate risk in what will eventually be a rising rate environment.........and they were down in the bear markets at times.
I know many who have put in more than they got out because of when the distributions were taken.
|1 week 1 day ago||I am a fee only guy||
Pre-pay tuition with MET. Not a big advocate of 529's. I would rather be in coverdale IRA's but the best option in Michigan is MET.
BTW, Roth is not taxed unless you pull out more than what you put in.
To clarify why I don't like 529 it is because of transaction restrictions.
|13 weeks 17 hours ago||Maybe they should suspend||
the coach of the team who only scored one bucket...........
|18 weeks 4 days ago||Scenario||
No way he coaches in SF. He is fired after all coaching vacancies are filled and sits out the year and gets paid. This is likely if he doesn't play ball with any trade situation where he won't negotiate an extension/new contract or doesn't like hamstringing his new team with a year or two of bad drafts.
|19 weeks 6 days ago||Not to be picky||
Clarkston is not 8 miles from any of those schools. It is a good 30-40 minute morning communte if not more depending on conditions etc... I live 13 minutes away from Clarkston and send my kid to a private school in Auburn Hills and we are 25 minute commute on a good day.
OLSM is about the same and Country Day even further.
Notre Dame Prep, Waterford Lady of the Lakes and Oakland Christian fit your argument but can't support it because they are terrible at football

|23 weeks 6 days ago||Green||
is a bust. He is a big back who goes down quicker than a fluffer on an adult film set.
Smith IMO has run harder and tougher than Green and he played yesterday against the same IU defense and Drake was MUCH better.
I do have to commend Hayes. I thought he would never see the field with a hand off because he fumbled a half dozen times in practice that I have seen.
I would love to be wrong about Green.
With Ty next year and if they let Drake play will make Green and Smith less important which is a good thing for us.
|23 weeks 6 days ago||Whatever Magnus||
I am also not a better coach than Hoke but it doesn't take a genius to see he is lacking. How could you be evaluating all the people you do unless you are clearly superior to others in that aspect in your coaching and talent evaluation skills.
I have seen it with my own eyes more than once.
The RB coach DOES determine the RB depth chart. That is his job.

|31 weeks 4 days ago||The OL is about where I thought they would be||
They are not as bad as last year and there are holes for the RB's.
The major problem on the offense is that Devin is not better and Green is our 4rth best RB but he is starting.
Smith needs to get 20 carries a game
Johnson needs to get the 2nd back carries / 3rd down plays
Devin is a reboot to last year.
Play calling is worse IMO (based on ND game) but execution is better on the oline

Has acquired the following body count in the last year and a half
3 skunks (was as fun as it sounds)
1 draw with a 120 lb black lab,
He is totally chill until you challenge him or come on his territory.
He is fine with kids and has only growled once when a 2 yr old tried to put a finger in his pooper. I just wouldn't consider him a golden type family dog.
I guess in the spirit of the thread my dog would be Craig James
|1 year 38 weeks ago||Unlike any dog that I have had.||
My Shiba is totally attached to me and is not an ideal dog for kids. They are very cat like and aloof in ways. Determined and VERY smart. My dog is an escape artist. I have had to bungee the crate when we leave AND put on a 35lb dumbell on top of teh gate in addition to the straps to keep him in place.
They are not a dog that will let kids be kids around them. You will not find a more beautiful dog but don't kid yourself. They are not a lab or a golden. They tolerate kids but are not kid friendly in a traditional sense.
If you like the breed and are up for it, let me know. I have a rescue 5 minutes from my house and they also breed champions which is what my guy is. I am in clarkston / Grand Blanc area

|1 year 49 weeks ago||Don't really care||
if you are or aren't. You should send your response to Joe Dumars. He recent track record with FA's, draft picks and coaches provide you with better fodder.
|1 year 49 weeks ago||YOu misunderstand my point||
I was not insinuating that Joe D being canned would make the Pistons a FA destination. If anything I would think the opposite is true.
My argument is that the only thing that made Detroit a FA destination was winning. We have fallen way back in that area.
My second point is that the young foundation that those are claiming he is building will be eroding from underneath us. They are four year contracts. First one is up next year.
The inability to lure quality FA pieces have killed us.
|1 year 49 weeks ago||Couple of thoughts||
1. Why couldn't Jackson GM from LA.........Gores ownes from LA. Millen also was a GM from PA..........oops
2. Dumars needs to go. YOu can make the argument that he has developed a foundation the last three drafts but what happens when as soon you are on the cusp of making the turnaround and they start leaving one by one. They don't have long term deals with rookies. They will get 4 years. He is a restricted FA after next year.
When you are not a destination team without an IT factor you are in trouble. Detroit has fallen off the basketball map since our last run and doesn't offer much that would be attractive to someone right now.

|2 years 44 min ago||I think completely different||
Laimbeer is a hard charger. A team of vets would not of received his leadership well IMO.
The young guys need it.
You can always judge a coach on the effort and attitude of the team. Frank failed
|2 years 47 min ago||I bumped you but disagree completely||
It bugs me that people cant debate on this site sometimes because of downvotes when it isn't a trolling situation. It would be much better to state why they disagree.........
Why I disagree is the fact that your premise that GM's are scared of each other is way off. To be a GM you have to be completely confident and know your stuff. Every team has a different need that has to be addressed.
He has milked his past success beyond where he deserves to be a GM anymore. The only thing that would prohibit me from canning him is the lack of an obvious successor. NBA is way different than NFL for identifying the next great thing in the front office. When you monitor 300 athletes in the league vs almost 1000 there is a much smaller pool to draw from.
The way is the draft. Joe has sucked at the draft. He might of finally of done OK with last year but even Monroe is not getting a lot better than what he showed initially
There are only 4-5 sexy places to play. There are only so many max players those teams can sign. That is another excuse.
|2 years 5 hours ago||Two things||
1. It is now taken off
2. This opens up an interesting question........... Why not walk on and sell your own stuff. If you are not on scholarship you can work and or have businesses. Is this possible?
What would stop a walk on from licensing their own image to the school if they are not on scholarship.

Braxton is every bit the playmaker that Denard was. He also has more help than Denard had at UM. He also is better with not turning the ball over.

FIrst of all the best material is here: https://www.facebook.com/helpmepass?fref=ts
I have referred several people to them and they are all impressed at the upgrade of materials vs the Kaplan's of the world.
IMO you should get your 65 and be IAR. The brokers are going out of business. Managed porfolios are where it is at in the future. Mutual Fund and Variable Annuity sales are some of the biggest scams out there.
I have a lot more opinions on this but the broker world is just a glorified boiler room. You are better off to learn at a bank and then go on your own if you are going to the broker world. The banks have captive clients. Stay away from Edward Jones, Ameriprise and those types of guys.
|2 years 1 week ago||Another faulty argument you make......||
Stauskus would be his backup.

|2 years 3 weeks ago||Just blame it on me||
|2 years 3 weeks ago||One of the hats is a logical one||
I wasn't questioning fandom but the logic behind a thought process.
I never told anyone to choose and agree that I don't think he meant to harm the school but he did AND he never apologized for it. In fact he tried to play the victom card.
I was a huge Webber fan even when he left but you have to understand that UM does not want to have the type of recognition and press that the Fab5 would bring.
|2 years 3 weeks ago||Not bitter or angry at all||
I just don't think Webber needs to honored.
The fact is that UM image and the Fab 5 era with the end result are not on the same page and I don't think they ever will be especially without a sincere humble apology.
I loved the Fab5 and was a huge fan.
You look at everything that Brandon and Coleman want UM to stand for and you will not find anything that lines up with the Fab5 era and the outcome of it.
I was questioning a persons logic not fandom
|2 years 3 weeks ago||Based on your comment||
you should be furious that Webber chose to put UM at risk.
You are then, based on your argument that you are a Webber fan first and a UM fan second.
|2 years 3 weeks ago||UM is not a Calipari type school||
Flying those banners would be like giving the finger to the NCAA.
It doesn't matter if they made or lost money. There are not conditional rules based on profit.
Do I think athletes should get something.....absolutely.
Don't forget that Webber, Rose and Howard ended up making millions and UM provided that platform for them.
|2 years 3 weeks ago||Thank you proving my point||
Read you post again..................do those sound like Coleman and Brandon values?
That is not what UM values nor wants to be remembered for.
|2 years 3 weeks ago||agree that it is remembered||
I was in hs at the time and was a huge fan. I bought all the Nike gear and wore black socks until I was threatened to be benched.
It will be remembered but don't think that UM will be the one to remind you of it.
As far as honoring them...........Why? Lets be very direct here.
Has any first loser (second place) been honored by any upper tier program.
Has any team that didn't win a B1G championship get honored by any school.
The perception of this scandal and team outside of AA is more UNLV than anything else. Tark has not been celebrated since his firing.
UM does not want nor will embrace the culture that they helped initiatel UM will stand with pride on how they have dealt with minority enrollments and other issues like that. They will never look at the institution from the eyes of a fan.
|2 years 3 weeks ago||Would take MAJOR movements and humility from one Mr Webber||
Formal apology and a matching donation with interest of what was speculated he received and give it to MOtt.
This would be only a starting point IMO
|2 years 3 weeks ago||I understand what you are going for||
But I don't think UM as a whole cares to be recognized for racist letters from donors, baggy shorts, bald heads, integrating rap music into the CBB culture.
It will always be perceived by scandal and Ed Martin.
To think otherwise is ridiculous. One coach will not chew pouches when DB is around practice because of the image UM wants to always uphold.

He was one player as is McGary/Morgan.
How often has JB had McGary/Morgan on the floor at the same time.
Look at Izzo and how he approaches the game.
How many "physical" players does JB recruit and/or play at the same time.
In regards to Novak: He was tough. He was always giving up 30 lbs and 5 inches which means he was beaten up but stuck to it. If he was guarding a 2/3 position player instead of primarily a 4 it would be different.
|2 years 9 weeks ago||Disagree 100%||
JB does not coach a phyical style and has not recruited that type of player. That is the reason why McGary makes such an impact. This is why losing Morgan who plays that way at times is killing us right now.
We are more built for a tourney run vs a B1G regular conference team.

offensive approach to football...............When he had Manning he threw it all the time. YOu are giving stock answers to complicated questions. He was finishing first in the division at close to a 50% clip when they canned him. He had ups and downs through his whole tenure.
They would have had an easier time righting the ship if the captain wasn't told to walk the plank by the boosters or had people publically call him out
Fulmer always recruited well which is the lifeblood of the program.
For the silly argument that he is too old................He is only three years older than Les Miles. This is not a Bowden / Paterno senile coach. He is also 5 years younget than lloyd. How many people were clammoring for Miles at Michigan. Hell we could of hired Fulmer and the age wouldn't of changed by much.

|2 years 18 weeks ago||Good Question||
I have no rooting interest in UT other than buying a long sleeve T from Steve and Barry's 15 years ago because I wanted an orange shirt.
I am rambling against expectations of fans and the general public at large that sacrifices long term decisions for a "now moment" that appears to be sexy.
The ignorance of someone like the AUburn boosters that kick out Tommy Tubberville...............why? He didn't kiss the ring of the mighty booster in the way they wanted. (Auburn finished 1st in their division 5 times out of the 10 years he as there). They use that to look at someonw like CHizik who had a terrible track record. His teams got better when he left and he was finally exposed when his athlete left.
You see the same instability at some public companies that have shareholders that punish them for making long term decisions when it benefits them 5-10yrs down the road.
I think Fulmer was a typical egomaniac SEC coach. I miss the days when there were figure head coaches instead of mercenaries.
I think these schools are foolish. They are firing coaches without anyone ready to take the job. Many times the devil you know is tolerable. Does anyone think Dooley was better than what Fulmer could do. Hell they should of hired Tubberville IMO
|2 years 18 weeks ago||Lloyd and Fulmer are not consistent examples||
Lloyd wanted to retire. Most of his comments in pressers were railing against what the football programs had to do to stay on top. No need to hash the end of his career but he had one and a half feet out the door for a few years.
Fulmer still was in the game and still wants back. UT fans and boosters thought he was too old.
Fulmer's winning percentage was a full 10% higher that UT historically. He finished first in his division 3 out of his last 6 years. He recruited on par with most of the schools with significat disadvantages geographically.
|2 years 18 weeks ago||Fulmer / Disagree||
He still wants to coach and is more than able. He recruited very well. UT is at a disadvantage against FL, LSU, Bama, GA and Aub because of geography. He neutralized that in his tenure. If he wasn't pushed out he would have been able to steady the ship. He didn't forget how to coach. Too many boosters think the success of the team is from their dollars instead of the hard work of the kids and coaches.
I guess Bill Snyder can't coach because he is old.
|2 years 18 weeks ago||UT fan wouldn't be happy unless it was Saban||
Wash rinse repeat for any SEC school.
They are pissed in Arky about BB.
THey should of never pushed Fulmer out the door. They are reaping the result of that decision from a group of people who know business but don't know anything about football.
UT and Auburn deserve anything they get.
How much better would both schools be if they didn't fire those two coaches.
|2 years 20 weeks ago||Contrary Info||
I have heard they are on the optimistic side of things.
|2 years 20 weeks ago||Iowa and Minny stats||
being used for passing defense have a hidden factor. I wonder what you would see if you factored this in by compl percentage, avg yard per pass etc instead of just yards.
Minny and Iowa are buried usually in the second half and teams just pound the ball with the run and go home.
While I love stats you have to account for human variables or use other stats like ypa when team leading vs being behind........
|2 years 22 weeks ago||Big difference||
The calls that are benefitting Nebraska are borderline inside job. How is that not a touchdown yesterday........yet they benefit. They have gotton more breaks than any team not named Notre Dame.
1. They benefit from a nerve injury.............and get introduced to Bellamy and not Devin.
2. Sparty get hosed on a few calls AT HOME and Nebraska benefits
3. Nebraska gets the benefit of an obvious touchdown call scored against them as well as a few questionable calls in addition to that.
This stretch of games was their gauntlet and they made it through
Yep......I am hating them a bit

Football teams are not having the turn out that you would expect. It is at a height of popularity for the fan but not participation. Just ask any football coach, I coach in our youth league and we have dropped from 7 entry level teams to just 4 now.
|2 years 31 weeks ago||I know there is a ton of soccer love||

|2 years 32 weeks ago||Kind of hard to compare but I will say this.....||
This is the biggest discrepancy between a Michigan team and an oppenent when it comes to talent, speed, strength, size and youth.

I was studying sports med at CMU at the time and I was able to talk to all the trainers and watch them get the players ready. I then proceeded to run out on the field behind the team............my knees buckled. I was shocked. I had never seen that many people in my life and the noise was incredible. I was on the field for the warm ups and then proceeded to my seats which were awesome. Watched the game from the 50 yd line 15 rows up.
We beat Illinois and I was able to be in the locker room after the game. I took a leak in the players locker room next to Lloyd in the trough.
|2 years 32 weeks ago||Nice||
I would suggest you try to shop the indoor shot of the jerry dome and then layer it to show this on the gigantic scoreboard at the same time.
|2 years 33 weeks ago||Two things..........||
1. You could work out with Barwis and it would cost you less than "give anything"
2. You have to consider the coaches they worked under. They both are great but Barwis trained players to the desires of RR which was more speed oriented. Wellman trains players to the desire of BH which is more size and strength.
To think that Barwis could not get players the same size and strength or that Wellman couldn't get lineman to be sleeker, faster and more agile is an ignorant thought.
They are both great and UM is better for having them.

The receiver he hung out to dry in the beginning was his kid brother.

to DVR a game, go online and then complain that someone spoiled it for you. What did you think would happen.
You should of shut off the radio on the way home, not turnedon the tv to NBC to access the DVR and don't go online.

you admit just started playing football late in his life is going to be a gut feeling for starting on the OL as a true freshman. He doesn't understand the game as much as he should nor does he have the technique down to contribute right away.
|2 years 38 weeks ago||My sentiments exactly||
You notice how they never show the big ugglies when they unveil the uniforms. The sleek position players look alright in most everything. Add a big belly and a dunlop around the midsection and everything changes.
|2 years 38 weeks ago||If you do go to Muskegon as others have mentioned you||
can go to Pioneer Park vs the state park. IMO it is nicer and much less crowded. If you camp you can just show up and get a lot. I have been going there for over 20 years and it trumps the state parks for camping and the beaches are comparable. You will be a mile walk from the state campgrouds so you can venture over.

Lloyd Carr and Gary Moeller in the locker room at the Big House pre-game. I took a leak next to him in the trough. Players were getting ready and it was pretty intimidating seeing how huge they all were.
Took a leak next to Mitch Albom at JLA during intermission at a Red Wing game in the Olympia Club.
Sat next to Brett Favre at Disney MGM Tower of Terror. I had no clue until we were sitting because of how they bring you on the ride. This was before his 1st comeback with the Pack. I chatted with him for just a sec and asked him to be easy on the Lions...........he lied
I have met a few others with some Christian organizations but I will limit it to the trough visits and a cajun QB

I don't like Me first players and sulkers.
Westbrook is talented but out of control although in Intl competition he would be a nightmare to defend but we don't need another guard.
I have dislike Melo from day NBA day1 but loved him at Cuse.

If you are a player you are not lazy or disinterested. It doesn't work on the NBA level. Just ask Michael Jordan and Kwame Brown.
Potential can often be defined as lazy and mentally weak. Give me a Ben Wallace type over "potential" any day. I want a player with some dog in them.
It is never a good sign when Shaq and Ben Wallace could teach you how to improve your FT shooting percentage.

I played football for 6 years and have had one concussion. My son is 6 and I spend time with him on the golf course. If he wants to play football I will support him but I no longer want to steer him that way
This all started for me when HBO Inside Sports started following brain injuries, ALS and the link between sports.
Other food for thought for those that think only violent contact with the head is detrimental........Soccer players rank right up there with ALS and brain problems because of the amount of headers.
|2 years 50 weeks ago||ROH.......Don't see it.||
If Roh has a RVB type year I will be very pleased. Where did RVB go in the draft? Even if you didn't account for the injury he was not in the top 150. I will be all too happy to be wront though.

being back is not a factor unless we make the playoffs. He just got out of his brace this week. September is pushing it.
|2 years 51 weeks ago||All the more reason to purge the NCAA||
from existence. THey are an inept organization. The lack of punishment from obvious violations and the lack of investigation abilities have shown they have no teeth and no purpose except to organize a basketball tournament and print out recruiting mauals that they have no intention of enforcing.
The conference heads are loony at times but have showm much more competence than anything that has come from the NCAA.
Greed and TV money will doom the NCAA within the next 20 years.
|2 years 51 weeks ago||You gotta understand on how they think||
If we get a 4 team playoff because of the bowls fleecing the schools, the NCAA and the AD's will get greedy and eventually expand it in the name of fairness of other schools.
They will do it out of greed not fairness. The first step is just for them to get off their arse and get a playoff. Everything else will fall into place.
|2 years 51 weeks ago||I would look at another option||
Apply to grad school as an aid in a school that offers the program.
I was at Central Michigan and the TI were all in the masters program. They taught and received their education for free. Check programs out.
You don't need more debt because you are not in a high income tier career field. Do anything you can to work at a college and get the classes for free.
|2 years 51 weeks ago||Why is this still a debate||
Look at the results on the field. D stunk
|2 years 51 weeks ago||Well.||
He only talks about kids that play for Michigan.
He could apply the same thing at Arizona and move on. It not about the questions asked it is about the questions he answers. Arizona will learn to resent it if he doesn't shut up about Michigan.

Three big mistakes here:
1. Terrell being in this situation at all is terrible and lacks character
2. Terrell hiring an attorney whose name is Shady
3. rob f thinking that it is note worthy that Terrell attorney is proclaiming innocence.

........bring myself to watch any more tape from 2008, 2009 and 2010. It is just way too painful. Even the games like Illinois 2010 and the ND 2009 and 2010 games while exciting just remind of a painful memories.
I would compare it to looking at a photo album of your psychotic ex-girlfriend and now you are blissfully married to the girl of your dreams.

I am supremely happy with our recod this year especially in conference. When Morris declared I thought we were screwed.
I think we are 2-3 games higher on the poz side if Hardaway progresses even a bit vs regresses as he has done.
It only takes effort to play defense.
|3 years 10 weeks ago||Hardaway finished very strong last year||
I would expect him to step up a bit as a sophomore.
Here are the numbers through the same amount of games
Freshman 32% on 138 shots
Sophomore 27% on 137 shots
He shows no signs of coming out of the funk. He is last in efficeincy behind the arc. His defense is terrible this year.
He has forced some terrible shots this year which has hurt the team in key moments.
His minutes are up and the only thing up with that in proportion are bad decisions
We are winning in spite of him this year. I hope he turns it around for the tourney because we need him in a big way.
|3 years 10 weeks ago||aint no more||

He has been terrible this year on both sides of the ball compared to how he played last year.

Can't really use a football timeline for a basketball idea IMO.
I would suggest a quicker metric to use to get them up quicker. BBall is a 2-3 day newscycle not 7 days like fball.
Just my 2 cents.

Lets give a player who was suspened for a year the #1 jersey.
Gallon should wear number 128
There is no WR on this roster yet that should wear it.
I personally am not a big fan of the legacy jersey deal. There will be a pissing match eventually on whose patch or multiple patches end up on the jersey.
Does anyone doubt that Braylon thinks he should have a patch on it when it comes back and will say something stupid about it........

This should answer your questions
|3 years 26 weeks ago||Not true.....||
I have watched it several times on replay.
Gardner was three to four yards past the line and the coverage recognized it and broke away from Junior which is why he was open.
The safety knew where Devin was before Devin knew.
Devin throws a better ball than Denard but that doesn't mean he is the one who should be in right now. We have our bed and need to lay in it for now.
