So Bryan Mone's foot went into the ground in an "inopportune way" and "bones broke".

Not questioning your statement, I just hadn't heard this before.

Well, he pretty much has to. In this business, there are those who can get the job done and those who just can't Hackett. Hopefully he's the former.

Hey, that covers all the bases for a receiver, coach! Oh, except for these couple things he mentioned off the record:

I chuckled when I read that too...but serious question: is he saying Jeremy Clark is playing corner? I thought he was a safety.

I love the looks on everyone's faces after Iglesias tags Fowler. Priceless.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Interesting||
Fantastic how he draws a clear line in paragraph four:
So anyone who disagrees with him only proves that they had an agenda for getting rid of Hoke/Brandon and only used the Morris incident to get what they wanted. Based on the responses of 99% of the people in this thread, we're all just a bunch of manipulative kronies. Hey, at least we know where we stand.
This actually demonstrates some great foresight on his part. He knew this was going to ruffle feathers, so what better way to ostricize anyone who disagrees with you by making it clear up front that anyone who dares to disagree is a loon.
Uhh...so? Seriously, lines like this are what feeds the notion that America's kids today are totally pussified. These are minor injuries.
Dislocated shoulders are no fun. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that this is a more serious injury that could have long-lasting repercussions for the player. I'm kind of surprised that an ambulance had to be called for that, as I've seen a number of guys dislocate their shoulders without needing an ambulance called, but that's neither here nor there.
If the vertebrae injury turns out to be true, that is also serious. But the fact that Moss would include that in the article without having confirmed it seriously calls into question his credibility. That line itself (let alone the ALL CAPS AND EXCLAMATIONS!!!!!!!!!!11!1) blows a gaping hole in his credibility and professionalism. Is it a confirmed injury? If yes, then you've got a story and you don't need to resort to high-school level writing. If no, then you've got nothing and you make yourself look like a moron.
I don't even...dude is just throwing crap against the wall, hoping something will stick.

Wow, great resource. Thanks, I wasn't familiar with that site.

I actually waited for this thread to pose this question: my 2013 Hyundai Sonata is going to need new tires before winter comes. I live in Cleveland. I'm not looking to get snow tires, but something that will work well in all seasons. Any recommendations? Right now, it's got the Hankook tires that the dealer provided when I first bought it. Those have been fine, but I've not bought tires before so I don't know what's what.

Looks like Dan Haren to the Cubs. Not sure who Chicago gave up to get him, but it sounds like two minor leaguers. Good get for the Cubs.
Latest news is saying that Bruce to the Mets is not happening now. Mets got cold feet again.
The latest on Cespedes mentioned the possibility of a trade with Baltimore for Kevin Gausman. That would be fantastic, but it doesn't seem likely that the O's would want to give up Gausman (and understandably so). Also sounds like the Nats are stepping into the ring. Not sure who they have in the minors, but with the way the Fister deal has worked out, I'd say stay away from any offer Rizzo is making you. The White Sox also keep getting mentioned, but I just can't see them seriously making a push for the playoffs.

Yeah, I like it. If I'm remembering correctly, Norris set a record last year for the best K:BB ratio ever or something like that. Kind of an odd-ball character, but very dedicated to the game from what I've heard. He'll be exciting to track.

He wasn't going to factor in the DL rotation anyway, right? I don't remember hearing his name much over the past couple years. I wish him luck though, hope he does well at OU.

My wife and I bought some baby stuff that we weren't planning on getting for a couple months yet. Ended up saving a couple hundred dollars. Pretty happy with that.

Rough commute this morning in Cleveland, since the storms didn't hit until about 4:30 am this morning. Part of I-90 is shut down because of flooding. Luckily I go east to west on my commute, so it wasn't terrible. Only ended up being about 15 minutes delayed. Eastbound traffic is a parking lot though. Anybody going downtown or further is looking at a multiple hour sit in traffic.

Tech writer! Don't see many of us around. My degree is actually in technical writing, and that's what I did for the first couple years out of college. I've moved into other things now, but I always feel kind of surprised when I see someone
|15 weeks 14 hours ago||a. You know, this is a really||
a. You know, this is a really good question and I'm glad you asked it. I've had people tell me that I sound like Kermit the Frog when I talk sometimes. This is not purposeful, nor is it something I'm aware of unless someone points it out, or if I've been recorded and I hear the playback. It's been pointed out more than once though, so I suppose it's a thing. The odd part of it is that, in my head, I sound like a super smooth, super suave, manly man. So to answer your question, I would like to say "the voice in my head", but the reality is that it's the sound people hear.
b. I hope I never know the answer to this. I will be forever young.
c. Of course it would appear to move toward the back initially. Once it realized the car was moving though, it would either speed up to match the speed of the car (to avoid getting plastered against the rear window), or say "forget this" and zip out a window.
d. I have it on good authority from sciencers and such that the answer to this question is "yes". Don't shoot the messenger.
|16 weeks 1 day ago||Exactly. I was just reading||
Exactly. I was just reading the texts between McNally and Jastremski on NBC (here's the link), and there is no way to conclude from those that anybody was asking McNally to deflate the balls below the legal limit. If anything, McNally just comes across as a manipulative douche:
Between that and other texts, McNally comes across as someone who got pissed because he felt Tom was too particular about the balls, then used that as a way to get free stuff out of the whole thing.

I won't either, since that's exactly the dog I want to get. I'd name it Bjorn, too. Because 1) that's just an awesome dog name in general, and 2) it's a perfect dog name for a German Shepherd.

I'll tell you what, my allergies have made it nearly impossible to breath through my nose the past couple of days. I'm very thankful for the ability to breath through my mouth right now.
|16 weeks 6 days ago||I was a little tike, no older||
I was a little tike, no older than 7 or 8, when my parents decided to switch me to a new piano teacher. The teacher I was leaving was my first piano teacher, and I idolized her, so I got really upset about the change. I remember being up in my room having a moment when my dad came up and had a conversation about change, and how it happens all the time and how I needed to learn to adjust and accept changes. I eventually got over it, had a great experience with the new piano teacher, and every time I'm faced with a life change, my mind inevitably goes back to that conversation my dad had with me. I've gone through a lot of bigger changes since then and have been able to handle them in stride because of that.

That does suck for Nathan, and I feel for him, but I am glad that it makes the decision to keep Soria at closer much easier.
That said, the bullpen is starting to look shaky again. Also just saw that Krol has been DFA'd as of this morning, with Alex Wilson coming up to give it a go. Chamberlain has pitched well so far, but he's still a wild card in my mind. AlAl is always inconsistent. Not many options in the 'pen.
|18 weeks 2 days ago||Indeed||
I will unashamedly say that you are correct. And let's be honest, a Ferrari (or anything close to that caliber) is a pipe dream that will never be realized by me. And I'm OK with that.
|18 weeks 2 days ago||27 And assuming you're older||
And assuming you're older than that, I place the blame squarely on your generation, as the reason I've never driven a manual is entirely due to my parents. They used to drive manuals when they were kids, but owned automatics by the time I was old enough to start driving. I bought my first car off my dad and am currently on car #2 now.
IT'S NOT MY FAULT
|18 weeks 2 days ago||If I wanted a boat on wheels,||
If I wanted a boat on wheels, I'd get a 2015 Interceptor 28 KoolKat, slap some dubs on that baby, and be on my merry way. But I don't want a boat on wheels. I want a Ferrari. Even if it's a rusted out, old Ferrari, it has more sexiness and gravitas in one of its rust flakes than every station wagon ever made, combined into one. That would admittedly be a rather large station wagon, and it would have plenty of rear-facing seats (which I admit are a redeeming factor...there's just no beating the sweet smell of exhaust fumes and making faces at the people behind you), but it would still be a station wagon and therefore a terrible mode of transportation.
Give me a Ferrari, rusted out or not, or give me a KoolKat on wheels.
I think we've reached an understanding.
