- The offensive line was horrible last year - how much can we really expect them to improve? For them to be an average team would be giant step up. Heck, even an improvement to below average would be big progress over last year. I just don't see them being any better than that, and that is going to have a ripple effect through the rest of the offense.
- Funchess is poised for a huge season - but who is going to be the #2 option? The passing game was solid last year because Funchess emerged, and Gallon was excellent. Every other receiver, aside from Funchess, has shown nothing on the field. Chesson showed some positive signs last year, but didn't produce much of anything. It's nothing but hype for every other receiver. Hype is fun, but who is going to step up and actually produce? If this doesn't happen, teams will just lock down Funchess and the passing game will suffer.
- RB's are all hype at this point - who is going to actually step up and produce? Smith and Green didn't impress last year. Granted, the oline was a sieve and they were true freshmen. All signs point to Green being in better shape this year, and he has the recruiting hype. I'm excited for the potential at this position, but right now, it's all unrealized potential.
- How big of a difference can an offensive coordinator make? We'll see by the end of the year, but Nuss has his work cut out for him. I'm excited for him, but skeptical about the amount of progress he can make in one year.

It's been really choppy and keeps buffering. Especially in the 2nd Q. Just ran a speed test and I'm pulling down 16 Mbps on my Wi-Fi, so I'm hoping it's not just me.

Not sure if I missed this in a previous TV post, and I'm guessing the answer is no, but thought I'd check.

Started reading this thread, and I've agreed with just about everyone mentioned... then realized that just about everyone outside of the OL, secondary, and JMFR has been mentioned. Let's face it, the media focuses in on the top few story lines and beats the crap out of those.

Absolutely. I didn't mean that as a knock against Roh, or saying that Roh-level production would be bad. And I know they play different positions, but I think some people, based on Clark's size, athleticism, and media hype, are expecting a Graham-type player. With that expectation, Roh-level production would be a disappointment.

I wonder how good Frank Clark is really going to be. I think some people have an expectation that he's going to be a game-changing player, and I think he has the potential for that, but I really wonder if he will be that kind of guy. If he's on a spectrum between Craig Roh (steady, solid performer who did his job and not much else) and Brandon Graham (game-changing, dominant player), I think his performance is going to be end up being closer to Roh than Graham...which, based on some of the comments I've read, would be a disappointment to some.

About that phone. HTC had really dropped off before the M7 but they're making a comeback with the M7 and now the M8.

I try to find useful apps that automate every day things and cost little or nothing. Generally, they're apps that require set up and time up front, but after the setup, I forget they're running.

Not sure if serious due to the exclamation marks...but in case you are serious, 2015 is definitely the year for Hoke. Unless an atom bomb hits the program, it will be the first year since 2007 that UM will have a combination of depth and experience on both sides of the ball. Next year is the year when all the hard line platitudes about "no moar scuses!" and "this team is toooo talented NOT to win!" actually begin to make sense.

This is reality. It's easy to think really positively about the recruiting stars and hype surrounding these younger guys, but very few of them have done anything on the field yet. Like you said, some of these guys could surprise us and be solid...but that would be a surprise, not the expectation.
The only saving grace for this offense right now is that they have an experienced, talented QB at the helm, and a legit receiving threat.

Are schools doing this on purpose, or are AD's really this dumb? How many different schools have we seen in the last few months (UM included) with really obvious and glaring typos in public communications? I mean jeez, these schools could probably save 100k by hiring the local 5th grade spelling bee winner to proofread all their public communications.

Oh, hello there, Microsoft Rep. How much is Bill Gates paying you to spew your Microsoft-endearing propaganda on the unassuming message boards of the world?
|6 weeks 5 days ago||I'm excited about the||
I'm excited about the athletes on both sides of the ball, and very excited about the defense. I think the defense will be very good, with the only question mark in my mind the DT position. Every other position on defense is full of talent and experience. UM won't be throwing underclassmen out there out of necessity - any underclassman who sees the field on defense will do so because he earned it.
Offense is great, but there are still question marks in a lot of places:
My expectations are that the offense is going to be frustratingly average. We see all the athletes and stars and whatever, but I think they'll be hamstrung by the offensive line. I'd love to be wrong, and I really hope the oline makes a quantum leap, but I don't think that's a realistic expectation. I think we'll see the defense keep the team in games against tougher opponents, and Gardner will be able to somewhat make up for deficiencies on the line, but they'll lose some close games.
My baseline expectation for w/l is 8-4. Next year is the year I think they'll put it all together and win 10 or 11 games (or more).
|6 weeks 5 days ago||Completely agree. I think the||
Completely agree. I think the OP is overly-optimistic about the o-line. With the way they played last year, an average o-line would be a big step up. I'm not expecting much more than that.

I think it will be interesting to see how DD responds. I think we'll see him add another bullpen arm. He usually seems to pull a surprise move every year too, so he might find a way to get Price or someone else we're not currently linked to.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but today is just the end of the non-waiver trade deadline, right? So trades can still happen after today, players would just have to clear waivers before the deal is finalized.

Should have included them. Castellanos moreso than Suarez, but you're right. I'm not convinced that Suarez will end up being anything special.

|8 weeks 3 days ago||If we've learned anything in the past 10 years||
About the Tigers front office, it's that they're not very good at scouting prospects. Of the contributing players on the team, only Verlander and Porcello came up through our farm system. I guess Avila falls into that category too, but you're stretching the definition of contributing by including him.
In the rest of the league, is there anyone that we traded away from our farm system who's contributing to their new teams? Granderson comes to mind, but he's really dropped off in the last couple years. Garcia still has a lot of potential, but he's hurt. Anyone else?
Dombrowski has done a fantastic job of cashing in on prospects' future potential for guys who can contribute now. If I was a GM for any other team, I'd immediately say “no thanks“ if Dombrowski offered me a trade package including prospects.
|8 weeks 3 days ago||Not that steep||
Yes they were highly regarded in our farm system, but our farm system blows, so it's not saying much. Knebel has spent time in the majors and hasn't done much. Thompson may prove to be a solid pitcher in a few years, but may not. Soria has proven to be a successful pitcher. I like the move.
