As I see it the problem with this kind of service is that you still need high speed internet access, and for now that is pretty much exclusively coming from the cable companies. The cable plans are already set up so that getting just internet without cable is a bad deal (it's usually cheaper but not that much cheaper).
So few people will truly be able to ditch their cable company at this point. At current prices cable internet + Playstation Vue will probably be more expensive than cable internet + cable, and probably less reliable.
Umm, Kylo Ren seemed like a whiny teenager because that's precisely what he's supposed to be. I find it funny that people complain on the one hand that VII was derivative and on the other that, basically, the new villain isn't enough like the old one.
It might depend a little bit on the discipline, but in most cases I'm aware of, it's no different since you will satisfy all requirements for the Masters in the process of earning the Ph.D.
Having a Ph.D and a Masters (in the same field) should be looked on as no more prestigious than having only the Ph.D.

US News rankings are justly criticized, but the larger point that UC Berkeley is widely considered the top public university in the US is still true. This is also the case in the QS rankings (which also rank UCLA above UM).
(Interestingly, in QS, UVa falls far down the list at 172, even behind MSU at 164.)

Nowadays you can work fulltime year round in a minimum wage job and earn just barely enough to cover instate UM tuition & fees. Forget living expenses. And that's 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year, so it's not like going to school is going to work out in that extreme situation anyway.

I have one sort of similar to Ace's story, but this was a serious, ongoing, longterm relationship. If I were to make this into a long story instead of a short one, you would understand that this isn't so much a "worst breakup" as a "most hilariously apropos breakup".
I had been dating this girl for about 5 years. During the last year she was working in a different city about an hour away. One week I was coming to her city for work reasons and we said if possible we'd get lunch. We hadn't made definite plans, so that day when I called and found she was at the airport on the way to Singapore, I wasn't perturbed. It was a little odd she hadn't told me she was going, but it wasn't unusual for her to travel abroad for work. About a week later, I get an email: "Umm...remember when I was at the airport? Actually, I was moving to Singapore."
Never spoke to her again, although she tried to get back in touch a few times and moved back to the US about a year later. Totally cutting off contact was probably the best relationship move I ever made.
I'm too young to have been a fan in the 70s, but I've been a big fan of his earlier output for years. I was aware of him growing up but a decade or so ago I felt kind of bored with the music I had, and looking for something new, decided to educate myself on the music of the 70s. Really getting to know David Bowie completely blew me away.
I never really paid much attention to his more recent stuff. But after hearing the news (and yep I got it from mgoblog first) I listened to the new album a couple times and watched the two videos. The album is fantastic from start to finish, and the two videos are superbly creepy and haunting.
It's amazing that he had the capability to foresee his own death and put out such a moving statement on it in a way that is so clearly recognizable as uniquely his own style.
This is exactly what should happen. I don't care in the slightest if there are sub-.500 teams playing in bowl games. What annoys me is the fact that schools are submitting to a system that rips them off year after year. They have the power in this. If the NCAA would just say this is how it's going to work, that's what would happen.
Unfortunately the NCAA doesn't exist to represent the schools and the athletes, it exists to make money off them.
I saw above that Partridge has coached LB's in the past. But do we know where his specialty lies (if he has one)? I mean, he was a high school head coach before. But is he primarily a defensive guy? Is LB his primary position, or could he also do DB or DL? Is offense out of the question?
I don't know much about the incident that got him fired at USF, and I'm not a defensive schematic expert. But I remember that when Leavitt was at USF, if I noticed a USF game was on, I would usually watch it, because they were a really fun team to watch. Having no connection to the school or the area, I always rooted for them just because I liked watching them.
I'd be very happy with the hire if this happens. The guy was an excellent head coach, probably top 20 or even top 10 in his time, so to get him as an assistant would be a deal. The choking incident is a black mark, but as long as the university looks at the details and feels confident it won't be repeated in any way, I think that's some baggage we can tolerate.
This is the one that bothered me the most as well. The Peppers PI was bad too, but I can understand getting calls wrong on the field. Unless I've completely misunderstood the rule, this seems to me to be the clearest case of targeting I've seen all year. The guy launched himself, headfirst, into Rudock's head. If that was missed on the field, okay. But it wasn't, and the replay guys apparently thought it was undeniably *not* targeting? Hard to believe.
Yeah, I really don't see a problem with a coach saying we've got another kid at your position who is ready to commit, so we'd rather have you but if you're not ready to make a decision then we have to let him take your spot. It's unfortunate but there's nothing sleazy about it, if that was what we're supposed to conclude from the story.

Can't imagine it's his picture either as it's completely normal.

I don't see why starting out with an incredibly ambitious dream that didn't fully pan out apparently makes the entire endeavor of a college education meaningless to you. That's a rather depressing view of education, because that happened to almost everyone. Few of us didn't initially have our hopes set a bit higher than where we ended up, and frequently in an entirely different direction.
I also really don't like all-white uniforms. Or unicolor uniforms in general. But whatever, as long as good football is being played, I'll dig deep and find a way to deal with it.
