Hope it's a sprain, and hope…

Hope it's a sprain, and hope he had insurance. He should sit the rest of the year. Barring a catastrophic injury he's a top lottery pick lock at this point.

Mods have to be consistent

The snowflake rules apply to everyone for good reason. Mods can't leave someone's 'FIRE X! BENCH Y!' thread up because they have an early join date, a nice diary post or bunch of e-points. That's a recipe for unspecifiable, unenforceable standards. Not to mention even more snowflake threads and rage when 'joined after a loss' types see someone else's snowflake thread is allowed to stay for obscure reasons.

I hope Mr. Yost eventually returns from Bolivia, he was a great poster. Still, a long-time, active poster should know the rules and understand why the exist as well as anyone.

Are we sure that was Bronn?

Someone could probably CSI it. Dude is everywhere if so.

Without the benefit of replay, my thought is that was DIckon (young guy Jaime whose name Jaime can never remember). Jaime of course makes it out, but Dickon drowns.

Eye contact That eye contact comment is killing me for some reason.
take the MSF's BC

I've been riding for 9 years (since I graduated from Michigan, an NX650 was my graduation present to myself), and used bikes to commute in the Bay Area and Atlanta.

#1 suggestion no one has mentioned yet: take the MSF's Basic Rider Course. I took one at WCC for like $25, but they've got courses all over the country. This a cheap, excellent way to be introduced to motorcycles. You can work the kinks out without worrying about dropping your brand new bike. It will also absolutely let you know if you actually want a bike, or if maybe you'd prefer an automatic scooter, or maybe none of the above. Fair warning - there's a chance it hooks you bad and you buy a bike the next day :)

#2 suggestion is to consider dual sport motorcycles like the KLR650 or DL650, especially if you're a tall guy. They have a much more comfortable riding position than a sport bike, and some of the standard cruisers can be small for a big guy just from a space standpoint.

#3, some people have said things like 'oh, nothing bigger than a 1200cc'. A bike's performance depends on a lot more than displacement, but unless you weigh 300+ pounds that is a BIG bike. 800 cc can be a BIG bike. My first bike was a 650cc single cylinder. When my wife started, she started on a 500cc twin. Buying some giant 800cc + bike could not only be dangerous, it could be harder to learn (big, heavy thing to throw around).

#4, be careful about riding with others. Even if they have the best intentions, it's easy to get swept up in trying to keep up with someone. Most of the accidents I've seen have been on group rides. 'Ride your own ride'.

Preach Don't be messing with Chip and Jojo. The highlight of every flight on Southwest.
Love the idea in concept but

Love the idea in concept but think that's an overpay. Three picks, two of them first round? All of KCP, Harris and Johnson? Keep one of those three players (my vote is KCP) and ideally one of the picks.

extremely, extremely legitimate and above-board streams.

If some guest lecturer had

If some guest lecturer had done anything approaching this they'd be out on their ass.

This seriously is in creepy territory. Middle-aged male university employee giving a talk to hundreds of female college students, and it's "spread your legs", "get erect", "bang him hard"? Are you kidding?

logos

Curious why anyone would prefer #1 where 'Michigan' is technically being obscured by the slogan and logo of a corporate sponsor. Not that #2 is anything great, but at least it doesn't look like it was graffitied by a Nike VP.

#1 reminds me of those 'pay to be a billboard' shirts, where shirt with a giant swoosh/3 stripes/etc is more expensive than the same shirt with a small, standard logo in a corner.

I think either Cleagnebowl or

I think either Cleagnebowl or 'Battle of Winterfell' will happen this season, and everything else will be pushed to next season. Assuem BoW happens this season..

Ep 8: The Mountain kills a bunch of sparrows, probably rips lancel's head clean off. The Hound kills a bunch of bandits. It's been a long time since we've seen either in action, so we need to remind the audience that they're scary dudes.

Ep 9  Cersei trial by combat announced, she selects the Mountain. Word gets to the Hound. The faith are willing to take him as their champion because he's not afraid of the Mountain and has an equally bad rep. The Hound could do it to avenge his recently deceased family, to get paid, but really he'll do it to finally kill his brother. That's the hate he mentioned that kept him going.

Ep 10 Cleganebowl weigh-in, battle of winterfell. The Mountain refuses to take any drug tests, causing a minor kerfuffle.

S7e1: kick things off with a bang with Cleganebowl.

I dont think Mel realized she

I dont think Mel realized she was wrong about Stannis until well after Shireen. She abandons Stannis and returns to Castle Black despondant, while Jon is still alive. Mel's whole crisis of faith is because Stannis bit it, not Jon. This is why she was so fatalistic about trying to revive Jon. The writer commentary following each show also seems to confirm this.

Assume she'll get back on the R'hllor horse after Jon waltzes out of that room.

What the hell

You mean Erik_in_Dayton doesn't even live in Dayton? What else have you been lying about?

Without commenting on Henne vs Denard

Henne is one of the most underappreciated players I can recall. Even while he was playing people were clamoring for Mallet. The main knock on Henne is his record vs OSU, and it's unfair to pin all the blame for that on him. I don't think he 'had a chance' to be an all-time great for Michigan. I think he was an all-time great for Michigan.

This just looks like 'vanilla

This just looks like 'vanilla Michigan uniform with small Jumpman logo pasted on'. I'll be as happy as the next mgoblogger if the uniforms come out clean. But the Jumpman hype seems a little silly if this is where we end up.

Before it was stodgy and boring, but now (slaps Jumpan sticker on) it's amazing!

Pricing You can get a helmet at almost any price point, and it is easy to find a cheap one that passes the standard tests. 500+ is the going rate for the top of the line helmets, shoei and arai. Yes, a 200 HJC passes the same DOT test. But the fit and finish, the helmet noise, features etc may not stack up. You really have to try them on for yourself and decide if it's worth it to you.

For the OP... That's a hell of a lot of money. Agree with whoever said make sure it matches your gear.
Thrashers

The Thrashers haven't even existed since 2011... which I guess only proves your point.

competing offer

This is an intriguing opportunity, but I've also recently been offered a job that pays $10k/month working from home for 20 hours a week. Apparently I only have to learn one weird trick. Can Mercedes compete with that kind of work-life balance?

Wrs I think each ufr has mentioned Rudock struggled when his receivers couldn't get open. You can talk down Iowas receivers but Michigan isn't filled with proven commodities either. That tempers my optimism about Rudock's effect on the offense's ceiling, though he should thankfully raise the floor.

Who the f do you think hired all those writers you like?!? I'm not a fan of BS's deteriorating individual contributions, but he runs his site well, which is a bigger deal.

I guess we will learn in short order just how critical he is on a day to day basis for grantland now that it is rolling.
Jaylen went to Cal, not Kentucky I don't understand why losing Jaylen Brown has caused any 'we can't compete with bball blue bloods for five stars' angst. Brown went to Cal, not Calipari. People (at least from the UM side) love to compare Berkeley and Michigan. Isn't Brown proof positive that a school like Michigan can pick up the occasional 5 star?
mind blown

I never knew Clickhole was satire. I just put it in the same 'ugh scroll past this shit in my feed' bucket as upworthy et al.

Entertaining as hell. Though

Entertaining as hell. Though they could have killed off some more cast deadweight IMO. I hope some of the more negative/complicated characters that everyone loves to hate grow or at least appear to. Several of them showed signs of moving beyond 'I'm a weasel who screws everything up'. The show is more interesting with complicated characters around.

None of them are Merle, though. I miss Merle - imagine him in Alexandria.

Quick hits from someone who

Quick hits from someone who just moved to Denver 6 months ago (my trajectory was Ann Arbor -> Atlanta -> Denver). This is mostly cold water since everyone loves Denver so damn much. I actually do too, but you won't have trouble finding positive information on Denver so:

  • Crazy seller's market in many areas right now. We pay 2k for a 1200 sqft nice apartment on the edge of a desirable area. We're looking for a house, and houses go above asking within a day or two of the first showings.
  • There are some cool neighborhoods (downtown, Wash Park, Platt Park are my favorites so far, surely there are more). There is also appaling suburban sprawl in every direction if that's your bag.
  • Others have mentioned the DTC - I work there. The train is great if you leave nearish and your office is nearish. Otherwise it's 30+ minutes for 10-12 miles for me (straight down 70 from south of down town). The area around the DTC is sprawl.
  • It's dry as fuck here. It's practically a desert. Bring your humidifiers. Other than that, the weather is great. Majority sunny and warm but with a little weather for variety (I didn't like California's numbingly constant weather).
  • The airport is far away, 40+ minute drive from downtown area. They're building a train from downtown - ETA 2016.
  • Flights are often delayed due to changing weather, and there is often turbulence on the way in/out. Some heavy travel since moving here actually got me over my fear of turbulence real quick.
  • It can feel like you're living in an REI catalog.

Skiing!

  • You can drive to skiing... don't misconstrue that as living in a ski town.
  • The other commenters are right: leaving early means on the road before 6 am - traffic will already be heavy but moving. PJ's comment about leaving at 7 doesn't match my experience at all - the roads have been slammed well before then. I'm also leaving from the downtown area (Wash Park).
  • It'll take 2 hours. That's 4 hours in the car for there and back... if you can stay the night and ski twice in a row to cut off a few trips, do it.
What kind of maniac would

What kind of maniac would complain about running Lynch there? It wasn't 4th down. There were ~30 seconds left. They had time outs.

QB likely has the toughest

QB likely has the toughest path to playing time of any position. You almost never see more than 1 QB on the field at once, even on trick plays. QBs almost never rotate. Continuity is prized as the QB is pumped up as the leader of the entire team. I'd imagine many backup QB's feel like they never really get their shot, and I'd bet this isn't something unique to the psyche of Texans.

It would be interesting to see nation-wide charts for many positions. Dollars to donuts QB is far and away the 'worst'.

I like Nik but you think he's gonna find 8 more points in 6 minutes or so? Or are you expecting them to run him for 38+ a game?

No

Not even a blip. Slight satisfaction/relief if anything, since it makes Hoke and Brandon's departures more likely. Apparently the players feel the same way, given Funchess' comments.
