Can anyone give me a good…

Can anyone give me a good reason why Boston and Styx remain out of a Hall of Fame with the words Rock and Roll in the title? I'd put REO in this criminally ignored list too but they have already been mentioned.

I have been watching…

I have been watching Michigan games since the late 70's. For years and years and years I just watched and enjoyed the team and the players fighting for the win. For those dozen or so weeks each fall, it was my most enjoyable activity. After each game, I would just think about what I saw and on occasion share my thoughts with others like my dad or brother. For the last decade +, I have watched the games and then logged onto this site a day or so later to finish off my experience. To read Brian's post game write up has become a routine and a must every week. For the last several years, I have added the FFFF posts and UFRs and most all the other regular articles into the routine leading up to the game and have found that if I am not able to read those it has a material and negative impact on my ability to enjoy the game. It really is amazing that you have been able to create something that has become so necessary to my sports watching experience. No doubt I could have enjoyed this game by itself, but because of you and this site my enjoyment was so much more bountiful and meaningful.

Thank you!

This isn't a new thing for…

This isn't a new thing for Cowherd. He has been the biggest Jim fanboy on TV for quite some time. It might not always have been the case, especially when we were losing under RichRod and Brady Hoke, but he espouses the virtues of Jim Harbaugh almost weekly. IMO, the most reasonable voice on college football out there.

Too much to ask for him to…

Too much to ask for him to tweet out about Craig James and dead prostitutes?

Pretty sure (without have…

Pretty sure (without have any evidence whatsoever) that known Buckeye, Albert Breer, is behind this article. I know the original NFL.com article went over Pellisaro and Rappaport's signature, but you know there is a Buckeye behind this. Have no doubt he is behind the stealing signs rumors as well! Probably responsible for the war in the Ukraine as well. (Just a hunch)

Maybe he too can have a…

Maybe he too can have a mediocre year there before getting a huge payday at MSU.

We all have reasons why we…

We all have reasons why we follow the teams we do. Doubt many of us are actually from England so it probably has nothing to do with our "local team". I remember over a decade ago now waking up on Saturday mornings and thinking it was really cool that I could watch live sports on ESPN to the dulcet tones of Ian Darke and Steve McManaman. The team that was the most enjoyable for me to watch was Manchester City and I have been a fan ever since. We have our ups and downs like everyone else, but happy to admit that we have more ups than downs.

I've always been curious about the "Mideast Oil" hate. Seems similar to me to the American owner hate which seems to be in vogue right now. What I do care about is the product on the screen and I wish more teams were more aesthetically enjoyable to watch. Interestingly, there are other teams that spend more than we do, both over time and in recent years. One of them seems pretty happy to just be in 6th or wherever they are at these days. It really has as much to do with how the money is spent and whether the team can develop an identity. We don't get all of the players. We don't even get all the players we want (e.g. Cucarella). But we do buy players which fit our system/identity. When they are not happy, we do our best to move them on (e.g. Jesus, Sterling, Zinchenko, Aguerro, etc.) I like all of that about how we are run.

The Mideast Oil hate just seems like a lazy take much like the Bagman take before and the NIL take now. Look at the Aggies, for instance. They provide recruits all the money they can, but they still have to play games. There are many factors that go into winning. At the end of the day, City plays a brand of soccer that I enjoy watching and I think Pep is a great coach. But we still lose to the Livers at Anfield every year. We all have our ups and downs.

In sum, F State. Go Blue!!!

I'm glad I am not the only…

I'm glad I am not the only one who saw Jesse Palmer as a virtual lock when he came out. All that wasted talent...

Didn't Seth say in the Pod…

Didn't Seth say in the Pod that he would give them stars if they did well against PSU? I think it is about time they are recognized for the great job they do!

I've seen people reference…

I've seen people reference this "10 year period". Can you help me understand what 10 year stretch you are talking about? I get seven years (3 with RichRod and 4 with Hoke). Are you including  2015 and 2016 where we went 10-3? Or are you including 2006 and 2007 where we went 20-6?

I just don't agree with the narrative that lumps 2015 and 2016 in with the prior seven.

Really good work with this…

Really good work with this. This is the first time I saw it and I thought it was really enjoyable and the editing was tremendous!

I was worried about his…

I was worried about his commitment after the visits and found this article which made me feel better. He is at least still calling it a "one-horse race". I also love the fact that he dedicated his season to St. Judes. I know that might not mean much, but it just shows that he has a good head on his shoulders.

The touchdown throw to DPJ…

The touchdown throw to DPJ is something I am not sure we could have seen last year. That play gives me a lot of hope for this season.

Shaky first half. We deserve…

Shaky first half. We deserve a much better score than what it is.

I think Aguero will have one in the second.

GO (LIGHT) BLUE!

I'm a City fan as well and…

I'm a City fan as well and there is nothing like being able to watch Silva and the lads dominate in the morning and then watch Michigan dominate in the evening.

This is the life!

I can't agree with you…

I can't agree with you enough on this. I didn't always agree with them and Holtz was a ND Homer (one of the worst types), but it was entertaining television and I watched it every week for years and years and years. I can't watch it anymore. It isn't nearly as entertaining.

Monday

I think we are going to find out a lot about our team a week from now.

I am hopeful but we need to play a lot better than we have been over the last few matches. I don't see us coming from behind against Arsenal like we have against other lesser teams.

Kind of agree

City fan as well (David Silva is the Pavel Datsuk of the BPL).

Normally I enjoy watching Chelsea lose, but a season where Chelsea loses a lot and Man U plays a style most comparable to watching paint dry has been a somewhat unfulfilling year.

I do feel like we have a much better chance to do something in the Champions League this year so I am looking forward to that.

Clay Travis

No offense meant to the OP, but I hate that I clicked on the article. Clay Travis is a tool. The fact that he has managed to get a job with a (respectable?) news outlet causes me to further lose faith in God and man!

He does drive home sports talk here in Nashville. As with most everyone in that profession, he just says things to get reactions, only he seems to take it to a new level. At least he did, as I have not listened to him for a while now as it hurts my ears.

Just always keep in mind whenever you are reading anything where he claims to have inside scoop on something, he is 99.999% full of crap.

The part that I hate is that

The part that I hate is that it seems that they were able to use the buy-out for Bryzgalov to free up enough space to be a competitor for free agents. The fact that the latest CBA gave irresponsible teams like the Flyers a do-over is so maddening when your a fan of one of the most cap responsible teamsin the league. They pursued Bryz and outbid him and should have to pay the price for making that decision, good or bad.

Instead, they get to do the buy-out and become competitors int he free agent market once more.

So frustrating!

Who would've guessed? Instead

Who would've guessed? Instead of Meghan or Ted dying, it was Pete's mom.

Really good stuff from

Really good stuff from Rothstein. I hope he goes into why he didn't make it in baseball. I've heard anecdotally that it was because he couldn't hit the curve ball, but that seems too simplistic to me.

Thanks for this. As someone

Thanks for this. As someone who just has general knowledge of the subject, I truly appreciate you pointing me in the direction of some recommended reading.

Thanks so much!

His other comment that really

His other comment that really bugs me is when he says that it is generally recognized that the Wings have historically used interference to our advantage and that was a major reason for ourprolonged success through the years.

It's as bad as having to listen to Buckeye broadcasters during Michigan football games!

I haven't looked at the stats

I haven't looked at the stats but I feel that this has been a big reason for the Wings' success. It seems that we have been winning more than our share of face-offs, especially the important ones.

A lot of people have remarked

A lot of people have remarked about the role reversals this year for the Wings. Usually, we would be considered the talented juggernaut with all the pressure on us to win.

This year it is generally assumed that we are a mediocre team who is overachieving.

No pressure on us to win - all the pressure on the Hawks.

So strange!

CBC!

I am so jealous. I miss CBC telecasts!

Tell me if it is Bob Cole and Harry Neale, the greatest hockey duo ever (followed close behind by Dave Strader and Mickey Redmond!)

The Telecast

Does anyone know if we are going to have to put up with Ed Olczyk tonight on the telecast?

It just seems wrong that we have to put up with the Hawk's local color guy on these national telecasts. He has truly ruinedmy enjoyment of what should be a very enjoyable series. I still am mad about how he characterized the boarding penalty on Franzen in Game 3.

I agree.

I don't really think he got much of a quality chance in Miami. I think Sunday showed that he can be a quality QB in the league. I am no sure, but I don't think Gabbart has put up those kinds of numbers, and he did it against a quality defense in Houston.

If not Jacksonville, maybe someone will take a chance on him and let him truly compete for a startnig position next year.

Walton

Has Walton formally committed yet? I saw that the other two did earlier this week.

Great job Heiko

...but is anyone else interested in asking a few more questions about the bubble screen and its place in our offense this year?

Outstanding Job

Thanks for taking the time to put this together for the rest of us. Some real good insights in there too!

Ohio Alum

It does piss me off though that I can't hardly turn on ESPN or the radio and not see or hear an Ohio alum. Granted Herbstreit is not as bad as he used to be, and I find Spielman to be more bearable than others, but it still irks me how many of them are given the ability to share their flawed views with the masses. Robert Smith is the ABSOLUTE WORST! He cannot say something unbiased to save his life! Eddie George is the same way.

At first,

I though that Bradley should still get the job.

I think Bradley is getting a bad deal here. He was obviously the (unofficial) coach in waiting and stayed at the program with that in mind. I have no doubt he could have taken other jobs over the last few years. So if it is true that he had nothing to do with Sandusky and did not know about it, there is no reason that he should not be the leading candidate for the job.

Howeva, the problem is in the possibility that maybe he did and maybe he knew. If they hire him and it more facts linking Bradley come out later then it is an even bigger PR nightmare for the school (if that is even possible).

The only way for the school to truly be able to move past this, long term, is to bring someone from the outside and truly start distancing themselves frmo the past. Unfortunately, that move doesn't do right by someone who was very loyal to the program.

Seriously?

I get that you like the NBA. It is wrong to generalize those that don't agree with you.

I wonder

Just a thought (which may never get an answer) but knowing now how much Denard was injured during the year, I wonder if that was a contributing factor in giving Devin snaps during some of those games, especially when there was no apparent reason to do so.

Unlike previous years, it seems like there is rhyme and reason for most actions, and that one certainly lacked a certain amount of either.

Gives you a little more comfort when you don't understand a decision to believe that maybe there is an unknown factor or reasno at play which, if known, makes the decision seem completely reasonable.

Me Too

Still haven't found a good spot to watch Michigan games. How about you?

THIS IS EXCITING!

YOU SHOULD USE ALL CAPS TOO!

Morris was great

Admittedly, I have not taken the time to understand the metrics which are used now to evaluate individual success, but I read enough during the Verlander discussions to see how much they discount wins for a pitcher.

Grownig up during the 80s (and admittedly as a Tigers fan), there was no better pitcher than Morris. He was a fierce competitor each and every start. I think there is something to be said for the belief that he pitched to win and not to put up stats.

Ultimately, you are probably right: a lot of the voters today did not seem him play during his prime. He may never have led the league in wins for a given year, but he was consistently noe of the top pitchers in baseball throughout the 80s. If that does not get you in the Hall, I am not sure what should.

That's right

I forgot about that.

I still thought it was great this year and think one or two every year would not only be nice for those that attend but for recruiting and such as well. I assume that is at least partly why the SEC has all of their games at night.

Confused

Brandon says that only special games with significant fan interest will be scheduled at night. If Ohio and MSU does not meet those qualifications, what game will? I guess we can expect our next night game in two years when the Domers come to town?

Don't Get It

I really don't get all of the hating on Carr here. I don't really care if our coach is nice or mean to the media. I think more important is how do his former players view him. There may be a couple of examples of players not appreciating something he did but most former players still say he was the best. For me, that is much more important than whether he was able to give a halftime interview without seeming like he has a better place to be.

I can see not being completely happy with his results, but over 13 years he only had one 5 loss season, only lost three conference games 3 times, and had 4 Rose Bowl appearances. It was nice waking up every Saturday morning and feeling like we SHOULD win. We didn't always win but I always felt like we should have won. Not too different as to how the Buckeye fans have felt over the last several years.

I've followed the program since about 1980 and I can say that I was very proud of our team during each year of the Carr era. There have never been any accusations of rule-breaking during his time. It may be that I have reduced expectations from what maybe I should have had but those were good years as far as I was concerned.

Yes, thank you.

That was a great read.

I agree

I have always been surprised that he hasn't left already. To make Boise State a nationally relevant program. If someone would have told me 15 years ago that a coach would come along and make Boise State a Top Ten team year-in-year-out, I would have thought they could have whatever coaching job they would want in the country.

Petersen

I think that is interesting about Petersen talking to UNC. I was listening to SVP earlier today and he mentioned it was the best major program job vacancy out there right now. I don't really get that. SVP mentioned it was because of the great recruiting area and low expectations (given it is a basketball school). UNC hasn't really had a nationally relevant football program for quite some time. Seems to me that what Petersen did at Boise would warrant bigger and better than UNC.

Zach Banner

I saw on Rivals that Zach Banner is Lincoln Kennedy's son.

Lesson Learned

I learned from the last time we went through this that you can't believe anything until Herbstreit says it!
