I don't think there were any surprises in the strengths and deficiencies this team has in tonight's performance. This is a group that will take some time to gel and identify roles.

Unless you are a new fan to Michigan basketball this year, it should be no surprise that the team will have a bumpy early season while Beilein tinkers and develops his players. We have seen this movie many times before. This team has the talent to be a good to great team, but there will be growing pains

The PJ Fleck era is gonna have a tough time getting off the ground in year 2.

Rutgers and Minny running out true freshman unheralded QBs is going to be rough

Glad to finally have our QB situation with experienced depth and talent...been a while.

I actually feel better about

I actually feel better about our line this year compared to last year. We had experience last year, but knew that our seniors had already hit their ceiling, so not a lot to be excited about.

This year we know what we have in Cole. Bredeson should take a leap forward with his experience. Onwenu will be an improvement over the previous guards. We have enough options with program guys and freshman that we will put out a better 5 this year than last...it just may take a few games to gel together

RB

Higdon will be our #1 back by the end of the season. That's no knock on Evans who will have a good year, but Higdon will come close to breaking 1,000 yards

NFL Talent?

Fortunately we don't play against many NFL caliber WRs this year, hopefully that will give our secondary time to develop.

Agreed. The few moments

Agreed. The few moments Speight played as a RS Fr. it did not look like he would be the future for Michigan at QB. Then when O'korn transferred in everyone thought he would take the job, but Speight progressed and won the job. It's way too early to write the conclusion on Peter's, but whether he ever starts for Michigan or not, we are in good hands with Harbaugh, and the stable of QBs he has and will bring in.

Tackle vs. Flag

The idea that kids need to play tackle football at a young age (before 7th or 8th grade) in order to understand how to block or tackle properly is laughable (per the article). If you went across the U.S. and watched youth practices you would see how much poor technique is being coached, because so many of those involved in youth sports are volunteers/parents, not football experts. It would be much better for kids to develop other football/sports skills, e.g. flag/7-on-7, soccer, basketball, track, etc. versus playing tackle football from age 7 or 8 on.

Second

I would take our running back situation over everyone on this list with the exception of PSU. We have a great stable of backs, and would be able to manage an injury or even two and still be productive. The success of Michigan's running game will come down to how well our OL develops and gels together.
