My son currently does that...and he is fascinated by clocks so he points them out quite loudly every time he sees one in public.

I just watched the highlights a few days ago--the muffed punt was good luck but Hackenberg by the end wanted no part of Michigan's D. He actually came off the field on 4th down late in the game and had to be sent back on to go for it.

MIT would probably be more competitive than in the Eastern Conference in rowing but not by much.

And now he can look forward to a lateral move out of Jimmy Johns since they got rid of the noncompetes for sandwich engineers.

Any berths on the Olympic team are impressive, but I've always found the small boats extra impressive. Maybe because there is no lightweight 8 in the Olympics and I have a sense as a distant observer how intense the men's lightweight competition is. On the women's side it is likely even more intense with the proliferation of collegiate women's teams.

Even women's teams only have 40 at the high end, and that is very high.

Rowing is a walk-on heavy sport, and there are some good hs programs in Ohio. As a result, a very good club team could catch lightning in a bottle and beat a few teams at IRAs (the varsity national championship). However, even though men's heavyweight rowing has gotten more competitive as women's rowing has grown in popularity (only need one boathouse, set of rowing machines...but separate boats though), I would be shocked if Michigan could make the petite finals on a consistent basis.

Maybe this wasn't really about Michigan--the SEC was concerned about the growing trend of cupcakes, you know, actually winning games.

One reason may be that this season may well have gone better without Caris and Spike injuries. Also, although there were no real bad losses, it was head-scratching why we could beat Maryland and Purdue at home (and almost Maryland on the road) among others but look so bad against Iowa and MSU. To me it was the disappointment of inconsistency.

More like nice owner...although I know the board gets surly when it comes to Chicago teams, fans of teams in Michigan don't have to look far for parallel examples of poor ownership.

Well, I for one certainly didn't foresee Michigan having a better winning percentage than MSU in the tourney.

Agreed, and my point about it being weird that accusations of being a "Walmart Wolverine" on a Michigan blog still stands no matter where WD goes to school.

It is a bit strange on a Michigan blog for one fan to call another a Walmart Wolverine, but it goes from strange to really strange when the target is a current student.

|23 weeks 1 day ago||He must have been thinking so||
He must have been thinking so hard about the question "is our children learning" that he forgot to object to all of the mean, nasty requirements on Clemson's football program in the two weeks before the national championship and the winter break before the quarterfinals.
|23 weeks 1 day ago||Yeah, at times Kornheiser and||
Yeah, at times Kornheiser and Wilbon are vanishingly few steps above Bayless and Smith...but this is how narratives start. First a contrarian challenges the conventional wisdom (SEC #1 you guys) because it gets attention. Then a contrarian decides to say it repeatedly because it starts a conversation (even if that mostly means other more "serious" types rejecting the challenge to the narrative) and gets them attention. If Harbaugh has success over time, the Harbaugh-in-the-SEC's-Head narrative looks more and more plausible, and stops being a contrarian viewpoint.

Uh, Sankey, perhaps you should be crusading against Ivy League non-revenue sports (wait aren't they all lulz) that have winter or spring break training trips in much better weather. And those poor student athletes aren't even on scholarship. Is nobody in the Ivy League thinking of the childrenes's edukation?!?!??!

|23 weeks 6 days ago||Brady Hoke had a great first||
Brady Hoke had a great first year and went way downhill from a program that was (in his first year) five years removed from playing a No. 1 vs No. 2 in the penultimate game. John Beilein took a program that hadn't been to the tournament since sanctions and went to the elite eight in back-to-back years, playing a competitive national championship the year before.
|24 weeks 3 days ago||I think you are getting at||
I think you are getting at the difference in colloquial uses of "crazy." Just because Harbaugh (or many other elite and non-elite coaches) is obsessive about football and winning does not make him out of control or unable to be rational/calculating. I suppose it is easy to mistake exuberance (or enthusiasm unknown to mankind as the case may be) with a lack of inhibition, but that clearly isn't the case with Harbaugh or most other elite coaching performers.

Maybe the BSU player taking five steps has been watching too much LeBron James. LeBron seems to cradle the ball to his body like a running back and take several steps every drive. Sometimes he even gives out a bonus stiff arm to the nearest defender.
