Smart hasn’t run the havoc defense in a long time, pretty much since VCU, which was pretty much a full court press concept anyway, but he still has strong defensive teams.
As a Big East BB fan, he’d be a great hire. Strong coach, who turned around the Marquette program after Wojo, and he did it quickly. Has them in the Big East tourney final without his best player. Won the conference and won the tourney last year as well. Doubt he’d come though. He’s from Wisconsin and seems comfortable there.
And it’s not like Texas is a basketball powerhouse, and he did okay there, relatively.
If you are inferring Jace was on scholarship, and he put Jett in the spotlight to reap financial benefits, because Juwan has money problems or something, you’re dumb as shit.
Marquette has a strong history. Shaka is not the only one who’s done well there. Hell, Crean brought them to a Final Four. And they have as many National Championships as Michigan.
Smart is also from Wisconsin, so doubt he’d leave. Seems like a good fit for both school and coach. He is a solid coach, though. Did bring VCU to the Final Four. Probably wasn't in position to be Michigan’s HC after his Texas struggles, even though he didn’t do too poorly there. Would’ve done well here, I imagine. He runs a good program. It’s all hypothetical now anyway.
Anything is a better brand of basketball than Michigan is showing. Doesn’t mean UVA isn’t like pulling teeth to watch. There are better coaches than Bennett to pursue.
This whole argument is flawed. This has been happening every offseason, and Michigan’s made the playoff three years in a row. That’s stability and success.
I can’t wait for the people doubting Juwan to eat all their words. Support the team and coach, you assholes. His response was fine. Strength and conditioning coaches are a dime a dozen.
No history of anger issues before he became coach here, but I still think medical conjecture might not be the best way to go. It’s like that whole Harbaugh can’t coach now that he’s on meds fiasco during the pandemic.
