I think "too late" and down…

I think "too late" and down are at different times in the play.  If a defender is draped on the QB and impedes his throwing motion or dislodges the ball mid-motion then that's the "too late" being talking about.  While not down per se, he shouldn't be allowed to just wing the ball wherever to avoid a sack.  If the QB is outside the tackle box and the ball makes it back to the LOS or there's a receiver in the area of the pass, then no problem.

However, if the QB is being hit while throwing and the ball doesn't make it back to the LOS then that's intentional grounding and he probably threw it "too late" while also not being down.

(I think I saw the replay once or twice, so this is just a general take.  I'm not sure where receivers where on the field.)

Is there a hole in you shoe?…

Is there a hole in you shoe?

No? How'd you get your foot get in?

What's the difference between and hippo and a zippo?
One is very heavy and the other is a little lighter.

Today at the bank an old lady asked me to help check her balance.  So I pushed her over.

Yeah, you're right

Only went on those two bowl trips, couldn't remember which one started his "tenure"

Never Said Otherwise

I love Trucker Steve.  He's an awesome dude!

I have a friend who lived in NC and on his way back from the mitten he told me they passed an orage truck with a bunch of Michigan stickers on it (somewhere like West Virginia no less).  I told them instantly I knew who it was!

Trucker Steve ...

... predates the Hoke Era.  His very first MMB trip hauling stuff was the 2011 Gator Bowl.

So I guess for all intents and purposes he's Hoke Era ... damn

Oof! Right in the feels

For starters, probably one of the best pieces I've read about Michigan, ever.

JMo is going to be one of those players that we'll look back at and remember his contributions fondly.  No he was never a star or even "the guy," but I still remember Graham Brown going to work in the post and his accomplishments aren't even in the same discussion.  I was so happy when he got the dunk at the end of the Syracuse game.  He took a seat to help the team and was able to put the cap on Michigan's final four victory.  Jordan Morgan, a Michigan Man.

It looks like ...

they just couldn't wait to ink a contract

YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!

"Three from Downtown Saline"

I was the guy that shot that really long three for the Pep Band. I did it because Ant Wright and Corey Person were behind me yelling "Let it fly man!"

It was my inner and outer Anthony Wright telling me to shoot.

Top 3

In person:
The 2008 Capital One bowl - I was in the MMB and got the gator chomp from every fan all week. Lloyd getting carried off will be one of those images that will be with me for the rest of my life.

The Duke game in 2008 at Crisler - Just awesome to see Michigan Basketball jump onto the big stage. The loudest I have ever heard Crisler Arena.

On TV
97 OSU game - I was 10 at the time and didn't really understand how you won the Heisman. So I asked my dad what Woodson had to do against OSU to win it ... He said, "I think he'll need a pick and a return for a TD." ... Needless to say both happened and I thought my dad was a genius.

It would make more sense for

It would make more sense for the MMB to play it than any other band because Darth Vader (James Earl Jones) went to Michigan!

AD

The AD has more control over what you guys want done than the directors do. And they only care about the costs. Like someone already said, it is cheaper to put the band in the student section than across the field.

Delay

This isn't possible because there would be a delay on the speakers and the band would echo in the Stadium. On TV you don't have to worry about the delay.

Moving Problems

Splitting the band is just a bad idea. I'm in the band and I can tell you that it would sound A LOT quieter. Only having half the band play wouldn't help regardless of where they are.

Plus, we have more space between the rows to allow us to play our instruments. You would have to tear out that part that they re-did a couple of years ago to move is over one section, or *maybe* two.

Recording the music would be just a good as saying "See ya!" to the band. Every year we have a recording session to record some of our songs from the season to put on CDs. It takes almost a full year to edit the tracks. If you record the music it would just be used over and over every season. So you wouldn't need the band except for Pre-game and Halftime (Which would be really boring, coming from a band member view).

Mitchgoblue

Name I made up way back in the day for email. Now it's my handle for everything.

Started reading before the 2007 season. A friend told me about it.

Been a life long fan. Really began to learn who the players were when I was in second or third grade with Tshimanga Biakabutuka. Since then my favorite number has been 21, even before I found out that it was Desmond's number.

That is me in the picture. I think that was after the Pick-6 against Wisconsin this year. I am in the Marching Band and the Basketball Band, I'm the guy with the giant "3" at Crisler.

"Why would anyone

vote for the reverse play? Reverses never work!"

Student Vote

The students usually get to vote on the season shirt design sometime later in the Winter semester. Unless RR changed that. This could just be one of the options.

Is there any resemblance?

So Beilein installed his difficult* style of play for the Michigan Basketball team last year and didn't do so hot. Well ... Is there another coach from WVU that installed a difficult offense for another Michigan team this year and didn't do well???

*I say difficult meaning that it is hard for the players to completely grasp the concept (Backdoor cuts, 1-3-1 zone, etc) in one season.

Bilas

I walked past Bilas before the game and told him "It's too bad that your Dukies are going to lose." He responded with a laugh ... Well who's laughing now ...

Step Show and March

I'm in the MMB and can answer some of your questions.

Yes RR is having the band lead the team in 2 hours before, but it is only reserve players (people not in the show).  So there will still be the Drumline Step Show in front of Revelli and there still will be the march over to the Stadium as normal.

If you haven't seen either the Step Show or the March to the Stadium you really need to.  They are a great part of the game day experience.

Oregon Uni's Finally someone else who likes the Thunder Green and Lightning Yellow uniforms...
Helmets I don't think that the helmet should be changed in anyway.  It's the icon of Michigan football.  Although I like the Maize top and Blue pants look.  I wondered how long it would be until this discussion came up.
