|2 weeks 1 day ago||They've started 4 of the 8||
They've started 4 of the 8 games so far this season with just abysmal shooting... like less than 25% from the field for most of the first half in those games.
Michigan also has the most athletic, yet invisible/disinterested NBA lottery pick ever.
Improvement by the freshmen will probably be offset by them getting worn down as the year goes on.
The team creeps closer to the bubble, Arizona is the last chance for a marquee non-conference victory, and there are a ton of good teams in the B1G - Iowa/Minnesota in addition to the elite group of MSU/OSU/Wisconsin - that are going to give the Wolverines fits.
The players have so much heart and never give up, they just lack that killer instinct and dig themselves huge holes. Hope they can back their way into the tourney and then make a big run.

Hall was ejected for the fight which he served a punishment for during the game. He should be suspended for the national televised broadcasting of flipping off everyone. No reason they should be treated as one and the same incident.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||The game is the sum of its||
The game is the sum of its parts, not just the last play, so it makes no sense to be correctly aggressive at the end of the game while setting fire to a perfectly good possession before the half when you know you need all the points you can get.

Only coaching decision I disagreed with was not going for points before half. Almost a minute plus a timeout set on fire.

Which matchup analysis do you disagree with exactly?
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Yes||
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Actually||
Actually, only 33 points (one defensive td vs Iowa). They came on 3 TD drives, two of which were set up by turnovers on short fields and 4 FGs.
Over that span Michigan had 30 drives on offense. They accrued 434 yards of offense or roughly 14 yards per drive. They punted 16 times, committed 4 turnovers, 4 field goals and 3 touchdowns. The half ended mercifully three times. They averaged 1.1 points per possession against the #4, 13, 43 and 65th ranked scoring defenses.
Now to correct this fallacy that the spread was worse versus tough opponents in 2010 than our historically bad 2013 offense:
Over those five 2010 losses Michigan only had 28 offensive first half possessions. They scored 4 touchdowns (all of which were drives of 60+ yards) and kicked two field goals. They also missed 3 field goals, turned the ball over 7 times, punted 10 times and ran out the half twice.
Over those 28 drives they gained 994 yards of offense or roughly 35.5 yards per drive. They scored 1.2 points per possession although if they had had a competant place kicker like Brendan Gibbons back then (/sarcasm) it would have been 1.5 ppp. This was against the #5, 7, 25, 39, and 49th ranked scoring defenses.
TLDR Stat Conclusion:
In the first half of its losses the 2010 offense played against slightly better defenses but moved the ball more than twice as effectively and scored more total points despite having 18% fewer possessions.

I would argue the sky is not intact if, in fact, the team has sustained potential season long injuries on two of our biggest stars (Stauskas/Robinson).
Hopefully they will not be out long.

This week it's finally going to work, no one will expect it - just have to execute!

just the opposite because he's going to try and have the biggest impact for BCS rankings
|3 weeks 6 days ago||In fairness, we should add||
In fairness, we should add that Iowa, Nebraska and Penn State could also very well have wound up in the W column.
But also, Indiana was so much closer than the score of that game indicated and should be included along with UConn. Akron and NW were both one play away from being a loss.

Stauskas was automatic 85-90% from the line last year, he's totally in his head at the free throw line right now.

I would add Arizona to that list of nonconference likely losses.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||what's||
what's the over/under on michigan huddling with clock running on this two minute drill?
|4 weeks 6 days ago||denard||
I miss that play where Denard looks at the sideline, flexes his arm and then calls his own number and gets the first down/touchdown.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||integrity||
There was no integrity on that punt.
|5 weeks 6 hours ago||Nope||
Well I strongly believe this is not going to happen!
|5 weeks 1 day ago||Indiana 2013 == 2009/2010||
This year if Indiana's QB doesn't suffer a thumb injury they were going to score to go ahead in the 4th Quarter. Instead their backup turned it over and then their injured starter tried to come back and forced another INT. That game was much closer than the score would have you believe.

Caris hype train is leaving the station! Choo-choo! Sophomore leeeeeeap.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||...||
2008 was miles worse off depth and talent wise over team 134 and it's not even close.
|6 weeks 14 hours ago||Denard||
The element of "oh it's just a booboo" gives this injury the air of Denards elbow, something we all assumed would go away but ended up being way more serious than was let on. If you go back to injuries last year Beilein was never coy or dodgy about Morgans ankle or Horfords knees, so why now?
|6 weeks 3 days ago||Lineup||
Best five-man line-up sans McGary, expect to see these guys get the vast majority of minutes against ISU and in Puerto Rico:
Those 5 were all at least +15 +/- tonight and no one else on Michigan's roster was positive. Beilein was experimenting with a lot of stuff but that's the way it's going to work out when the chips are down in a couple of weeks.
But this team can be a whole other beast swapping McGary for Horford.
Also for the poo-poo-ers. This is an exhibition: see #1 Kentucky "scraping" by Montevallo (lol?) in a similar game tonight as well.
|6 weeks 4 days ago||Yep.||
I'm not a basketball defensive expert but it appeared that Coleman's three pointers were all well contested.
Still there is definitely some sloppy passing going on and/or miscommunications that msut be worked out if UM is going to have any success on the road against a good/great team.

|6 weeks 6 days ago||Totally on board with this.||
Totally on board with this. The kid is clearly frustrated and probably regretting his decision to stay but it is a complete mental breakdown, lack of character and a blotch on the program - which should always remain the more important vs any one individual player.
|6 weeks 6 days ago||Gardner's health :(||
If Gardner's injury is serious, then you can write it all off. He's also a lot less likely to be in Notre Dame form that banged up even if he does play. He looked one or two steps slower than in previous weeks on every scramble today.

this game is very sadly going according to script, hoping for a big play to spark a turnaround.
