What's the list of graduated / exhausted eligibility players with meaningful playing time Beilein recruited?
DeShawn Sims graduated but he was an Amaker recruit I'm pretty sure.

Bo Ryan and Wisconsin get to keep it's whole damn team (minus one replaceable senior). There is no justice in the world.

Probably because his family has been trying to convince him to transfer for four years.

Accorinding to a Gary Parrish, GR3 has not yet informed Michigan coaching staff, which if he's signed with an agent is poor form.

It's why Beilein wasn't worried about the scholarship situation and is on the warpath for 2014 guys and transfers.

I think you missed my point. It's not that he can't be open about he wants more minutes for himself, he shouldn't be dragging Mitch / Mitch's decision into his answers.
Now reporters come to Mitch and say, hey Mitch your teammates say you've made up your mind, what is it? Or worse yet, ESPN pens an article "SOURCE CLOSE TO MICHIGAN SAYS MCGARY TO BE ASTRONAUT"
|1 week 5 days ago||Also remember at the||
Also remember at the beginning of the year, when asked about who he was going to go to in late shot clock situations coach said Horford. They clearly had big plans for him coming into the year, including the 2-big lineups, that never transpired.
I watched both of Horford's 3-pointer attempts this year and I also watched Beilein coach up the most efficient offense in KenPom recorded history despite losing McGary.
It ends up very unfortunate for Horford, but you can't really second guess Beilein's decisions.

The correct way to answer it is to not answer it at all and deflect... the same manner in which Nik Stauskas deflected similar questions in his radio interviews the last week or so.
For all the talk of Jon's zen-masterism, it's not on display here, the guy is clearly upset a lot right now.
|1 week 5 days ago||fouls||
Given his fouls per 40 minutes, was it even realistic to think he could play 30 minutes a contest?
|1 week 5 days ago||bad manners||
I don't like how Jon is handling this.
Horford has no business spouting out "I know what Mitch is going to do, he already told me." It smacks of an uncouthness I didn't think Jon possessed. He just sounds really angry and bitter - and you don't typically serve yourself well by doing a lot of talking when you're upset.
And then the real truth: "Transferring is something that my family has been trying to persuade me to do for four years"

It's a life lesson for the kids transitioning from school to the "real world" where people don't give a rats behind and your feelings don't matter. Gotta be able to handle the mental distractions if you want to cut it at the next level.

The Stauskas family has been working towards this moment (NBA) for years. It's well deserved, and while we want him to win us more Big Ten championships and Final Fours, can't deny the kid his due.
The most telling sign (apart from the moment of unguarded honesty by Stauskas' dad a few months back) was when Beilein was asked about the scholarship situation being 1 above the limit with the new class coming in and, without missing a beat, Beilein deadpanned "It'll work itself out".
There's a reason coach isn't worried about the scholarship thing and is on the hunt for impact transfer players this season.

There are a few million downsides, actually.
15th pick: guaranteed $3.1M
If you're told you could work your way into the first round with a few great workouts, that kind of money being that close (regardless of what your true odds are) is the kind of thing that sways people, regardless of where their families are. And keep in mind 18 to 21 year olds aren't typically known for their sound decision making.
You don't want GR3 to go the route of Manny or Darius but he has a bigger upside than both of those guys. Both GR3 and Mitch were feeling regret at various points over the season for their decision to return.
I'm sticking with my original call that all 3 are gone-zo. Caris, Derrick, and Zak you're up!
|2 weeks 18 hours ago||Tough call. Last year they||
Last year they burned Caris' shirt because he was displacing Vogrich/Akunne.
Would they burn Donnal's just so they could get a freshman on the floor instead of one of Nik/Caris/GR3?

Sure but compared to expectations when recruited you wouldn't say "Oh great we got the #2 prospect in the nation, now we're set for 6 games and some sweet bench mob GIFs!"
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Beilein: He the best.||
Before this year it might have been a question, now it's just a formality of waiting 2-3 more years for him to pass the all-time wins mark and whatever other accolades and achievements happen along the way.

Winning recipe: Michigan shoots season average from three, single digits in turnovers, and keeps Kentucky's OReb % under 50.
There's your coinflip. Still waiting for Stauskas to go off like Florida last year, tomorrow would be a great time for that.

|4 weeks 11 hours ago||There may not be a 9-seed||
There may not be a 9-seed differential between these two teams but it is at least outside the margin of error. Michigan is the better team on the average night which is why they went 15-3 vs 11-7 in their leagues. Sure, we could have a first half @Purdue or @Indiana type of game, but UT laid an even greater number of eggs during the regular season. But it's not the third game in three days so don't expect a Charlotte or MSU BTT type of shooting night.
I'm sick of hearing how any team with a big man is going to crush Michigan and fails to mention the boatloads of NBA talent on Michigan's roster that will reign death from above on a decent night.
When we get down to only four teams remaining by Sunday, it will be a lot harder to ignore this Michigan team.

Go get Eron Harris. He's legit.
Kid came off the bench as a freshman versus Michigan last year shot 3 of 3 for 10 points as WVU's only good looking shooter. Also looking at his stat line against WVU's win over Kansas a couple of weeks ago: 28 points on 14 shots, 5 of 7 from 3. Yes please!
|5 weeks 8 hours ago||The worst part about the new||
The worst part about the new incarnate of fiverthirtyeight is that it's owned wholly by ESPN which is why all of the sudden his algorithm includes the ridiculous BPI.
That and using pre-season rankings under the assumption that it is a valuable and accurate predictor of "overall talent level" on a roster that is useful at this time of year....
MSU/Louisville were ranked #2/3 preseason btw.

People are confusing 2013 Big East Louisville and 2014 AAC Louisville.
2013 Strength of schedule: 9.
2014: Strength of schedule 108.
Of any team seeded 11 or higher (44 teams) in the tournament Louisville's SOS ranks 43rd. The only team with a worse strength of schedule with a tournament seed higher than 11 is.... Wichita State.
Louisville has pushed to the maximum the margin-aware methods of efficiency ratings by absolutely murdering inferior competition. Here's their record against NCAA tournament teams this year:
(6) UNC L 84-93
(14) LA-Lafayette W 113-74
(8) Kentucky L 66-73
(8) Memphis L 67-73
(7) UConn W 76-64
(5) Cincinnati L 66-69
(5) Cincinnati W 58-57
(8) Memphis L 66-72
(7) UConn W 81-48
(7) UConn W 71-61
That's a 5-5 record against tournament teams, none higher than a 5-seed whom they split the season series with. They beat the same 7-seed three times and lost to a 6-seed and three games to 8-seeds.
Think twice before following the herd on Louisville 2014.

If you need a South Park connection, photoshop the heads of all 7 ESPN analsyts who unanimously picked MSU to win it all onto a blue-balled Randy Marsh.
Sorry Wichita St, Michigan, Duke, Arizona, Kansas, Florida, Iowa State, Virginia.... you all had nice seasons but it's over now and MSU and Louisville will play this weekend for the national title.

When you play three games in three days your legs get tired. Tired legs favor the teams with an inside presence and not relying on jump shots.
Michigan's front court fouled out 90 seconds into the game, the outcome was decided right then and there.
