I think the most impressive thing to me from him this week was the dispersion among targets. Clearly all three of Chesson, Darboh and Butt were getting separation so to be able to find them and hit the open receiver is huge this early in the year. It seems to me like a lot of new starting qb's fall back to their go-to guy when pressure picks up - definitely encouraging this early.
I think in a normal game, teams are going to have a very hard time dealing with this offense. Michigan seemed to get very vanilla where the rare jet sweep had a lot of room. I think if this were a normal game Michigan could have used more of those, and potentially a reverse or two and more screens to really open things up.
However, it was clear that UCF was dead set on stopping the run no matter what. Nice to see that our coaches aren't going to bash their heads against a wall (27 for 27!?), and go with what works. I think between Chesson, Darboh and Butt there are going to be some openings in the passing game.
You knew he had a special mindset when everybody thought there was a good chance he would go pro last year, and he was insistent every step of the way that he was going to finish his career here.
Don't forget about the "Beveled Guilt" at the top right. This is the time of year these guys work hardest - and if you have the cash, now is definitely a good time to help support our favorite blog. I always try to make a donation this time of year as they are rapidly feeding the addiction (and ruining my productivity at work.
A little bit of a different take on hype vidoes - thought it was excellent. I'm so sick of the ones that start with the lowlights against rivals. Time to move on!
I still wonder what his Senior year would have been like. Another player to have so much promise to leave early. The game he beat OSU though was truly special.
5 years goes quick. We all really appreciate all the hard work you guys put in. As the season gets closer you all continue ratcheting up the content to fuel our addictions!
that the offense is only partially installed still. I didn't notice nearly as much motion as I expected, and I think as everyone gets more comfortable as the season goes the offense will improve.
Pass protection was a huge upgrade against a pretty stout front 7. Jake Butt is a monster. Nice to see Chesson get open deep, and hopefully this year he is able to adjust while the ball is in the air.
Also want to give a huge thank you to all the bloggers feeding our information need/addiction over the last couple of weeks. The amount of quality content on here is absolutely incredible. For those that are open to donating, not a bad time to hit that beveled guilt button in the top right to show our appreciation.
I have a wedding for a cousin to go to for the opening home game this year. It is a cousin I am not all that close with, and will be attending the game instead.
I had another cousin who had a wedding during the Michigan vs MInnesota game 2 years ago when we won fairly handily. The groom was a south carolina grad and they had a big game that night also. The amount of iphones/ipads at the wedding was absurd. If you know you have a lot of family big into Michigan football and opt for a game on a fall Saturday you should anticipate people not attending or not paying attention.
I completely forgot this was available! Jumped on Oregon State, UNLV, and OSU! May not make it back for all three, but even if we do both OSU's this is probably a much better deal than we could get elsewhere.
Really glad I've got a beer in hand as I read through this one. Devin Gardner has been one of my favorite players, and I'll always wonder what could have been with different coaching.
Also amazing how foreboding the offensive line predictions were at the time. If i remember right everyone on this blog was thinking we needed receivers desparately at the time, and they could make it up with a big o-line class the next year.
I think it's easy to get caught up in the Harbaugh hype, but 10-2 or 11-1 seems fairly optimistic for a first year transition.
Worst case scenario I could see us dropping at least 2 non-conf games. New QB, new staff, new system. Conf could be 4 losses in there. I would say 6-6 is the floor. Hard to say is this the team that got blown out by a mediocre ND team, and we have a long way to go? Or is it the team that hung with ohio state until the 4th qt?
I would guess we likely end up somewhere around 8-4, but every game is at least competitive. Which is a big step in the right direction from where we've been the last couple years.
I feel like in order of importance those are the three. QB obviously we need someone to step up and at least be average.
WR - Last year I did not see our receivers getting much separation or being wide open very often. This will be critical to help take some of the burden off a new QB. Can Drake Harris get healthy?
RB - I feel like this position is too loaded to not have someone step up and be a major factor that other teams have to gameplan for.
I would have been all in favor of Manning for dline or lb coach. Not sure I'm huge on him if the only position left is CB. Jourdan Lewis made some great strides this year, but feel like Countess, Taylor and Stribling all regressed a bit. Always hard to tell if that's from the scheme/DC or position coach though.
would have been solid for Harbaugh to by on the telecast last night, but glad he's working on staff/recruiting stuff. I think we definitely need to pick up another 2 Olinemen and another Dlineman. Roquan would be a ridiculous pick up this late in the game as well.
I was pretty pleased with the game. Going in I was really hoping that we would have a chance to win late in the 4th quarter. That scenario definitely came in to play. I think the fact that we were down 14, and with the way Ohio was running the ball they could have easily ran away with it given how we've shown up the last few weeks. I was pretty proud that we were able to come back.
Certainly disappointed in the way the 2 point conversion played out. I would agree with the previous poster that I think it depends on how you view the players. (Pro's or amateurs). Having gone through college a few years ago, I'm fully cognizant of the fact that a lot of these guys are 18 and 19 and certainly want to lose less than any of us do.
App State for one. Most recently Penn State. Nothing quite like seeing that in person. Fortunately the good ones (Braylonfest + Manningham against Penn State) make you come back for more.

Anyone have 3 tickets they are willing to sell?
Anyone know how likely the Brown lot will be to sell out? Or how quickly it might sell out?
to get in and out of before and after the game?
How crowded they get and how early? We'll probably get in to town between 11 and 12.

This feels like a posbang thread.
I'm guessing the Iowa player didn't get ejected for targeting on that hit? That's borderline criminal.

Looks about right though.
I felt awful for Mone upon hearing the injury news. Let's hope it's the shorter timeline.

This post actually made me giggle.
3 days until this guy takes charge of the offense!
Van Humpers!
Also looking forward to De'veon running over and through people this year!
I think this was posted over the weekend, but definitely deserving of a second posting. Really well done.
I thought the video itself was very well done - but hard to get too hyped up with Coldplay on.

I hate when you are perusing the board, and click on a thread - only to have to hit another link in the thread to actually read the article.

Hawaii kicks off TOMORROW!!!!!
“This is where Harbaugh has rankled some folks because he’s making people work, and not just his own coaches,” Huffman said.
I can almost hear Hugh Freeze complaining from here.
I don't care how many times I've seen this it is still hilarious every.single.time.

Gave me chills. Love these!
Hopefully we see this guy healthy (3rd times the charm?), and looking like he could be the next great WR to take over for Jehu and Amara!
Until this guy watches the next Harbaugh QB take over a game;
This guys videos are ridiculous! His poor kids.

That was truly hilarious. Scott VanPelt definitely takes the crown. Great reaction to it as well.

Hopefully we get a retroactive one later on from either Brian or maybe even mini-UFR's breaking down parts of the game from knowledgable posters.
