I have no connection to the program. I had the opportunity to attend a practice. So this is all just based on what I saw on that particular day. So I guess I am the source.
If Warren is #16 he was getting reps with the older group as the #3 QB. He looked to be a solid QB but I didn't notice anything that jumped out to me. I was only there for one practice.
Not saying that this is a 12-0 team, I was just there for one practice and tried to take in as much as I could to share with the board. There has been very little football content so I thought I would share my perspective. I tend to be a glass half full type, especially when it comes to Michigan Football, so I could see it being taken that way.
I'll give some better examples. McKean, metelles, Gil, bush and Hudson were also both ranked as 3*, ben Mason, kwitty paye (I know a backup to this point but has been impressive), Brandon Watson, and finally the best pass pro rb we have Tru wilson.
Making up some crap would be better then "the sky is falling" and tumbleweed image. The entire article concluded on such a negative note. That is not to say the situation is not currently negative, it certainly is in fact. However when you frame it as though there is not even the remote possibility that Michigan is able to land anything that resembles a highly ranked receiver shaped recruit, because they do not currently have any balls pointed in their direction...I believe there is still 8 months before early signing day. So with recruiting being fluid, maybe "Michigan has some work to do" or "Michigan needs to expand their targets" as opposed to "the best we are gonna get is someone fresh out of a coma."
Sideline is very usefull, especially if you have an end zone angle. It really has allowed us to make more effective in game adjustments.
Assist is useless and for us was actually counterproductive. The breakdown data takes 24 hours to be returned, which would be fine if it were always accurate. I personally like to use some of the reports and breakdown data to inform what I install into my defensive gameplan, that being said I have to trust that data being accurate by the time we meet as a staff to finalize the gameplan so that we are all on the same page come monday practice. With assist I found myself taking gameplaning time away to correct their data entry, then I did not have all of the information that I like to have by the time we meet as a staff.
Really the issues from the begining of the season stemmed from the teams insistance on trying to run inside zone, and poor pass protection. The gap blocking schemes have been either effective or close to it since the begining. I cannot imagine that the adjustment to more zone running early on came from Drevno, but instead likely came from Frey. So when you look at the entirety of our offense and the information we have, I put very little responsibility on Drevno. The problems have been with the passing game (Hamilton) the zone running scheme (Frey) and the tackles pass pro (Frey) as well as the overall management of the offense (Harbaugh). Just my guess without knowing the ins and outs of what is going on in schembechler hall, or who is actually calling what on the sideline.
Your comment is true. However Bredeson has position flexibility (much like Cole) and if there is another ready made starter that steps on campus it allows you that option to bump Bredeson out if that would make up your best five. I am of the mind that some of the kids recruited in the last two classes will be rounding into form and that move to play a kid like Ekiyor, ready as he may be, will no longer be needed. In an ideal scenario a team brings in high level players that will still be redshirted because of the fact that they are behind other high level players. This would allow you to roll through a constant stream of highly talented upper classmen.
I don't have the Mgopoints to up or downvote anyone, but these are my sentiments exactly. He was crucial to have some returing experience...Fuck em indeed.
It is as if the NCAA assumes we are not paying attention to other schools athletes and the rulings that they recieve. This is clearly bullshit when examined next to the 6th years granted elsewhere.
The route that scored over Lewis was a smash combo. For this combo the outside receiver runs a stop or a hitch depending on the terminology of your offense, and the inside receiver (the one Lewis was covering) runs what is called a corner route, not a fade, which is targeted to the back corner of the end zone when you are in goaline situations.
I also coach in NW Ohio, Im the D coordinator at Sherwood Fairview. I also find coachhuey.com to be extermly helpful, many different threads ranging from all sorts of aspects of the game.
Ive been coaching at the High school level for about 10 years now, the number one thing that I will tell you is to make the calls/plays as simple as possible. If a kid (any age really) is confient they know their assignment they will play much faster. Other then that X's and O's do not matter much, just teach them how to block and tackle (every week) and you will see improvement.
Did anyone else notice Speight getting a little shove into the back of Hill here. Not sure how much (if at all) it helps, but I guess every little bit counts. Nice effort all around to punch it in.
I would propose a full 16 team playoff. To me this is the only logical solution for competitive balance among ALL college football teams. As it stands there are ten total conferences in division 1 football, you take those ten conference champs and they are your automatic qualifiers. From there you are left with 6 “at large” teams to fill out the bracket. It can be set up exactly like ¼ of the NCAA basketball tournament bracket, where the highest seeded team takes on the lowest and so on.
This plan gives an equal shot to all teams, at the beginning of the season every coaching staff can look at their players and tell them “if we handle our conference, then we get a shot to play for a national title.” It would still also encourage teams to play a tough schedule so that you will be more attractive for an at large bid should you not win your conference. Finally, some points for all of the negative arguments against this plan (at least all the negatives that I can think of):
“Too many games” – It would only be a total of 4 extra games for the teams in the championship game. Also every other level of football has a playoff to determine their champion, even the other divisions of college football.
“but Bowls???” – Have the playoff during December, the college regular season is over and most students are not taking classes so it won’t mess that up either. Playoff are concluded before the end of December then you can slot the teams that did not make the championship game into their “compensation” bowl games.
“but academics” – see above answer about not occurring during normal classes.
“I like how the regular season means so much now.” – I like having an undisputed champion better.
When someone hits free agency in any sport I'm sure they have priorities. His simply seem to include winning a title. That does not make him a coward for the same reason Randy Moss was not a coward for signing with the Patriots, or guys like Hull or Robitille signing with the wings, or guys like Price signing with the Red Sox instead of staying with the Tigers. Just because someone signs with a team that has proven themselves capable of winning it all does not make them a coward, it makes them someone that wants a better chance to win it all.
I am a little bit mad at myself for not going there first. Excellent point, he will deployed in so many different roles that I would have to change my pick and completely agree with you. In fact I think Peppers could be both our best, and most irreplacable player.
While he may be our most talented player I do not think he is the most irreplacable. There are two other experienced senior CBs on the roster with Clark and Stribbling. To find the most irreplacable player you have to look where the depth is most lacking. That spot in my opinion is linbacker, or reciever. For that reason I would put Gedeon as the most irreplacable, with the depth behind him being either a true frosh or ... welp.
Read Bacon's book Endzone (Brandon's lasting lessons) and you will realize that the dip in attendance at Michigan had little to nothing to do with the team performance on the field. After richrods first year attendance did not slip a bit, it was not until all of the bullshit Brandon pulled that attendance went down. You can call Michigan fans many things, but "fair weather fans" is not one of them.

that is true of the 10 game regular season schedule. I would be for reducing the number of regular season games by one or two to find a true champion with a system that everyone gets an equal shot.
literally every other college sport (including the other levels of college football) has a full playoff. I believe it should be similar to college basketball where if you win your conference you get an automatic bid, that makes eleven. Then to give the power conferences the advantage you create 5 at large bids and have a 16 team playoff just like a single bracket of the ncaa tourney. I don't want to hear any bullshit about "well that's too many games" because all other levels of football do that. There is plenty of time in December to have three playoff Saturdays, then you sort out the bowls and have a true championship game.
I agree that he made a few nice plays. He almost had a really nice interception in the end zone if Countess hadn't fallen into his legs to jar it loose.
I am a high school D-coordinator, and I do not think that this is a certain blitz. Linebacker reads are meant to be made coming down hill, as in they are supposed to be thinking run at the snap while taking their read step (towards the LOS). A linebacker that makes a good run read should look like a blitz every time on a run play, because as they take their read step if they read run they should continue seamlessly downhill to their run fit.

RB Depth, I was just commenting on this as it is a contrast to the depth available at the other positions on the roster.

Don't we already have this with "In the Big House" by Pop Evil. While not my favorite song, I certainly do not hate it.
Does anyone have any word on Drake from the postgame stuff. I haven't heard anything but I thought it looked pretty serious.
