I understand GERG is a reference to def coord. What is the origin of GERG?

Leach to USF?

Does Craig James have a son on that team?

Seriously....you fire a guy for player abuse, and you hire a guy who is the new poster child for player abuse! Well done. Somebody's gonna write a book about this and make millions!

Spot on Caveman

Excellent point! Not only the high ground from a journalistic
perspective, but also the safe ground me thinks!

FWIW - My $.02 on Leach

Man, it's football, not ballet. A face mask pull here, a shoulder pad tug there, an occasional f bomb...part of the fabric of the sport. I know we don't know all the facts, but c'mon, banished to the backyard shed because of a concussion? Leach, what the hell were you thinking? And, Craig James biased? What exactly did Craig James do to warrant the criticism darting his way? Hopefully, what all of us would do as parents and attend to our children. Does Adam James possess an exponentially enlarged sense of entitlement? Perhaps. Was it fed by a dad who some suggest is similarly afflicted? Perhaps. Does this make them the villains of this drama? IMHO, absolutely not. Now, I don't know the man, but I got to believe James did what he did because he is a father first - I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt. I would do the same. Cut the man some slack.

ATL Blue and Frigid.....

Hope it's warmer in Seattle for Pete's sake than in the ATL. Man, it's F****** cold! Where's Al Gore when you need him? Pete's getting 7mil for 5yrs according to LA Times. Man that's some scratch. Good for you Petrov!

Opportunity Lost

Society was dealt a rather unfortunate blow when the BCS Grand Poobahs neglected to recognize the instructional value of BCS games pitting Boise and TCU against more traditional BCS teams. Yes, Boise v. Oklahoma provided a hint. But, dad gummit, we missed a chance to put this all to rest by simply having a Boise play Florida let's say, and TCU maybe an Arkansas, or whomever...fill in the blank. Really, what did we learn from the TCU v. Boise game other than....we still harbor questions about how good they really are when compared to other major conferences. Let the boys play!

ATL Blue to the core!

I love the fact that the folks down here are passionate about their football - albeit annoyingly SECentric in my opinion - I just can't get my mind around the whole Dawg/UGA #VIII or something thing.

Howevaaah....if the Tide wins tonight, that'll be what, four national championships in a row. I'd say that was reason to feel pretty good about the quality of ball they play down here. Sprinkle in the fact that the area is so heavily recruited by everyone and his brother, and the notion that the ball down here is superior begins to take form. I don't agree with it uniformly because it is largely manifested by the success of three teams, namely LSU, recently Bama with Saban, and of course Florida. The SEC has won the BCS 5 times, FL and LSU twice each, and Tenn once since 1998. In most years, everyone else in the SEC is fair to middling (although those clad in orange - or is that tangerine? - would argue to be thought of otherwise!)

I am as Blue as anyone, but honestly, it's hard to deny southern football the respect it deserves.

Agreed Mr. Newton - FWIW...My $.02

I understand the analogy is a bit of a stretch, howeva...shall we all renounce our citizenship because we harbor differences with the ideology of our elected leaders? C'mon Braylon, if you have issues with RR, sit down with the guy, illuminate him to your perspective, do it privately without embarassing yourself, RR or most importantly, UM and its alumni. The fact that you chose express yourself so publicly suggests a greater agenda is afoot. What would you have RR do? Braylon, let the man recruit and let the man coach his team - his team. And, me thinks, for the majority of us, still our team!

Ginger Ale?

Hummmm....Vernors or Canada Dry?
