Date Title Body
D-Mac

D-Mac lives in Clawson now and hangs out with a bunch of my buddies (I've hung out a few times with him but I live out of state). He is a riot and a real nice guy.

FB's

Joey Kerridge is a preferred walk-on who will be joining the team this fall. This kid is pretty good, he tore up his ACL as a senior, otherwise he may have had some pretty good offers. Still need another FB, but if Kerridge comes back healthy he will see a lot of playing time during his career.

RJS & Ross

RJS is being recruited for MLB and Ross is being recruited as a WLB

Ringer's Ohio Ranking

For the star gazers, Allen Trieu at Scout said that there could be 20+ 4* and 5* players in the state of Ohio this year. With Ringer being ranked #16 it is pretty safe to say he'll be a 4* when the rankings are updated.

For the non-star gazers, this kid can flat out play. Only negative seems to be his height, but at 6' he's plenty big enough to make an impact.

DT?

DT? What are those?

Not looking good for either one of those guys....

O'Brien

Tennessee is his leader at this point. Michigan is playing catch up but if Hoke and co. get on him we probably have a pretty good shot to make up that ground.

Dee

Dee "opened up his recruitment." No one really seems to know for sure what that means. One thing is for sure, if he does still enroll early, it doesn't look good for us.

Early enrollee

EDIT: Maize and Blue beat me to it

He is on the team, and he

He is on the team, and he came in at about 250lbs, so don't expect him to clog up the middle. Hopefully he is at about 265 - 270lbs and he can provide some depth at DT/DE.

Dr. Phillips

They have 2 regular season games left and then the playoffs. Here's a link to their site, it gives the schedule and player's statistics (look down in the right hand corner of the page for the statistics link). The statistics are usually a week behind, but they also post a story about each week's game so if you want you can just add the stats from that week to the posted season stats.

Dr. Phillips

Dr. Phillips is the #1 ranked team in Central Florida and has a real shot at winning the 6A title this year. 6A is the highest classification in the state of Florida, so it is some of the best competition in the country. Dee's stats for the year (29 TD's so far and approximately 1200 yards rushing with a 9.4 yds per carry avg) are the real deal. That said, Gateway (last night's opponent) is not good.

Vlad

Vlad wasn't 100% in the spring game, he's had a good fall camp so far but you're right in one sense, until he does it in a game it doesn't really matter.

USF

USF is making a late push

ESPN

ESPN didn't even list us in Dee Hart's top 5 during the GK telecast (they did have Colorado State listed though). Take it FWIW, ESPN recruiting sucks....

Went to HS with Jon Jansen

and played against Mark Campbell. Also played basketball against Michael Talley in a summer league game. I know, showing my age a bit...

Re: WTF The PSU player pushed Warren in the back and he tumbled into Hemingway. Not much Warren could do...
Brandstatter I heard it too, and loved it. I've heard some national guys come out and say the same thing, but it's nice to hear our local guys do it.
Depth issues? Minor and C. Brown will get most of the carries and don't forget, V. Smith was 3rd on the depth chart in the spring only because Shaw was hurt and wasn't playing. Not to mention, we have Grady and Cox as big backs. RB is the one position that we don't have depth issues. If we have a couple of injuries (which is possible with Minor and Brown's history) then obviously one or both of Fitz and V. Smith will have to play.
Fitz & V. Smith Hopefully they both redshirt. That would mean that Minor, Brown, Shaw, and Grady stayed healthy and had productive years in 09. Fitz and V. Smith will both be more productive in the future if they get a chance to put on 15 lbs and are allowed to get acclimated to division I football.
Hankins Hankins did not commit to OSU and apparently that was just a rumor started by an OSU guy. Hankins was at Michigan's camp today and did his best to earn an offer from RR. We'll see if it works out for him, seems like he did pretty well but wasn't dominant today.
Star Gazers This kid is a high 3 star (#23 overall CB and only 4 spots away from a 4th star) ranked CB on Scout cause he went to their camp and earned that ranking. He'd be ranked higher on Rivals if he went to one of their camps. Point is, throw out the politics of recruiting and this kid is a legitimate CB prospect with very good hips and good overall athletic ability. His weakness at this point is his strength, but Barwis should help with that. Throw in the fact that the coaches raved about him on Tuesday during Michigan's camp, and I'm pretty confident that this kid has a shot at being a legit CB in the Big Ten.
