What if he was going to a strip club before or after the dance club? Who'd be the dummy then for NOT wearing sweatpants? |
| 4 hours 54 min ago | If he actually has problems |
If he actually has problems finding socks that don't "cut off his circulation" (!?) then I'd probably be asking if he "Hover-rounds" not if he's hitting the gym.... |
| 4 hours 56 min ago | Still confused. These casual |
Still confused. These casual socks... are they plaid or striped or argyle or what? I mean, are they brown and black, or childish colors? I know nothing of Southern California (nor do I particularly want to... especially of their dragon-shirted, sparkly and sequened fashion sense... for men) but I would like to know what "casual" socks are. I have two types of socks, 1. argyle black or brown socks for suits, 2. white socks for working out. What else could you need? I'm genuinely confused. And don't you dare say these "casual" socks have the little toe holes... Mexico can take ya'll back if that is the case. |
| 9 hours 9 min ago | Real question... why is it |
Real question... why is it NECESSARY to encourage players to... play? Jesus, does any other employer have to force their employees just to make some sort of effort beyond their already defined pay? Just scrap the whole thing, no one cares who makes the Pro Bowl anyways. |
| 9 hours 12 min ago | Meh, maybe "incentive" |
Meh, maybe "incentive" doesn't EQUAL a bounty... but it's getting closer. I don't think the Saints coaches ever said "I want you to INJURE QB X", they said "I want you to hit QB X as hard a f***ing possible." So is there much difference between that and saying "I want you to sack QB X, if you do, here's some more money". The NFL is a farce (if you haven't already realized this) with the bullshit player protections. They'll fine James Harrison for looking at a quarterback, but then sell you a $45 DVD with the best (now illegal) hits in the NFL. I used to love the NFL, but it has fallen out of favor with me as I've become more of a college fan (despite the issues), because at least college football respects the rules of football to some extent. The NFL is now an absolute joke of a "football' league. Are you even allowed to touch the quarterback anymore? Now... occasionally. In five years.... how many of you think QBs will be throwing for 6 or 7,000 yards a season pretty damn soon? The NFL is going with the 3 S's of the NBA... in favor of Scoring, Statistics and Showmanship rather than the one "S" that actually matters... the Sport. |
| 16 hours 13 min ago | This is stupid. I don't want |
This is stupid. I don't want to watch a bunch of chubby high school boys do some silly dance. Isn't that why most schools and universities have, like 5-6 dance teams who "dance" in marginally different ways and wear various types of slutty outfits? You've got the traditional cheerleaders, then the "urban" dance crew who does a lot of that "uh uh uh duh duh" stuff like they have in rap videos. Then those flag twirlers (meh, looks like their stuck in the 50s...) and the halftime show girls. Honestly, what ever happened to just playing the game? Nope, you've gotta dance around like a fucking idiot everytime you touch the ball, ball carrier, quarterback, rush for 2.2 yards, catch the ball like you're supposed to, defend like your supposed to, or do ANYTHING on the football field. Damn the NFL. Just hand the ball to the ref like you've been there before, don't do some goddamn dance like some ninny. |

Those other two don't even hold a candle to Jenn. And Gweneth (ugliest name ever?) Paltrow? Really? Solid 7 on a good day. C'mon Brad... you've been slipping ever since Fight Club. Angelina is just.... ugh. How many child-purses can you have? |

And judging by the quality of their equipment and uniforms, I'd say it's safe to say that third party is, in reality, an 8th grade Home Economics class from Des Moines who haven't learned all the stiches yet. The uniform design is of course outsourced to the Western Pennslvania School for the Blind. |

Yeah... Detroit. In the winter. That's an easy sell. Basically you'd have your 3 hours of game time and then want to get the hell out of there. Maybe if Chicago, Philly or New York had an indoor stadium... |

Does altruism exist? Discuss. Now that is a thread topic worthy of real Michigan Men and I suggest that we take up this debate when the day breaks in the morrow! |
| 2 days 4 hours ago | Hey, it worked for that Kony |
Hey, it worked for that Kony guy, right? He must've gotten elected or whatever, because I didn't see his name after that one week of campaigning. Thank God those Facebook polls work, otherwise Guantanamo would still be open, the government would be openly disregarding the Constitution, and my Dad would still be smoking! And hey, that's why I share my beliefs on ESPN and Huffington Post blogs, because MY VOICE MATTERS. We really can work together to make a good, honest change for the better! We can work with politicians, out-groups, minorities, businesses, bankers, athletes, bullies, wusses, teachers, policemen, and the military to make America a better place by letting our voices ring loud and free. (Disclaimer: This is all false and completely untrue). Hope the best for Moore. |

Funnier when taken in the context of some Buckeyes' comments on the thread, "Should've picked a lower-tier program than tOSU, can't expect to get away with lying at a BIG TIME PROGRAM HISTORY tradition." |
| 2 days 16 hours ago | Just shows what celebrities |
Just shows what celebrities can get away with in our culture. Not only does that old hag blonde woman ignore the injured ladies, she gives the Miguel fool a hug! Idiocy at its finest. If anyone other than, 1. a celebrity, 2. a politician had done something like this, they'd be in big trouble. But for a celebrity, no way. Wake up sheeple. |
| 4 days 13 hours ago | Why, exactly, does EMU have a |
Why, exactly, does EMU have a football team? Or better question, why do they have twenty-some athletic teams? Do less people go to their football games than a AAAA high school football game? Obviously students aren't going to EMU because of the teams and can anyone really say EMU sports has gotten the school exposure? I know the arguments for paying players at Michigan, Alabama, etc... but when EMU has to resort to embarassing stuff like this, you know it is when a program is hanging on that no longer should be. Maybe this will be one of the benefits of the conference re-alignment... it will force schools to take a good, hard look at their (imagined) position as a Div-1 football and athletics powerhouse (/ even relevant school). |
| 1 week 3 days ago | Meh, I think its more just |
Meh, I think its more just self-deprecating humor and the knowledge that usually, the attractiveness of the student body / quality of amenities is inversely correlated to the quality of the school (barring some geographic assistance... I don't think there's a school south of Virginia that isn't well stocked with better-than-par women folk). Ever heard the ole' Sparty joke: "Ann Arbor, where the squirrels are cuter than the girls and more confident than the guys"? I think we can take some ribbing for the SINGLE college characteristic they beat us in. |
| 1 week 4 days ago | The SEC seems to do pretty |
The SEC seems to do pretty well getting recruits to do both. The "Hostesses" are doing their job and obviously the MSU football program isn't holding up their end of the bargain... |
| 1 week 4 days ago | Is there any risk Rutgers |
Is there any risk Rutgers makes a move now that they're a serious player and in the Big Ten? Delaney said he thinks they can become a real powerhouse and that.... HAHAH kidding... kidding... |
| 1 week 4 days ago | Uhh.... why is it necessary |
Uhh.... why is it necessary for any school to add women's rugby? How many high school girl rugby players are in the United States? Wouldn't you pretty much get a scholarship just by signing up? The more sports the better for the NCAA apparently... Why SHOULD Michigan add another sport should be the real question. To win some fanciful "Cup" no one really cares about? |
| 1 week 4 days ago | Well, for a WR like him that |
Well, for a WR like him that shouldn't be too much of a revelation, he can stretch the field and... oh, he's not a WR you say? My interest grows... |

Ugh, society disgusts me sometimes. Pick one partner and stick with them. Honestly, these swingers and... oh, wait. You said "neg". Okay... this is awkward. |
| 1 week 5 days ago | "Mmm, gurl. Look at dat |
"Mmm, gurl. Look at dat body... look at dat body..." How does an athlete become that out of shape? I plan to look better than that after 25 years of working 60-70 hours a week at a desk. Did he pick up the linemen's diet plan by accident or something? |

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/cotown/la-et-ct-mccain-cable-20130509,0,2224732.story John McCain is introducing a bill to allow consumers to get cable channels a la carte. I've been openly wondering what would happen if something like this happens for a while now, mostly to add more evidence to the stupid decision to take Rutgers. I know there will be plenty of lobbying and the media corporations will likely stop it from passing, but very interesting nonetheless. If there's ONE DAMN THING the government NEEDS TO PROTECT for THE AMERICAN PEOPLE... it ISN'T EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE, OR CIVIL RIGHTS... we as AMERICANS DESERVE GREAT CABLE TELEVISION. That concern tops all for a large percent of Americans. Discuss. |

Isn't that what they look like everywhere a few days a month? |
| 1 week 6 days ago | Exactly, the media's goal is |
Exactly, the media's goal is not to report the truth, facts, or even the "news". They want page views because page views equal money. Do you think ESPN keeps Stephen A. Smith on because he's a rational, sane human being with intelligent views? No. He gets people riled up and says idiotic things to keep you watching. No one is going to click a news article that says, "New evidence shows that Hitler was a really really bad guy". However, the media would love to write a story, "New evidence shows Hitler wasn't all that bad" because people are going to click on it. For all we know Wetzel knows exactly what he's doing and smiles as millions of Americans get red-in-the-face after reading his stories. |

Were raisins recently made illegal??? Because it appears as though she is smuggling some! Ba-Dum-CHA! |
| 2 weeks 10 hours ago | "LOOK AT ALL THIS ABANDONDED |
"LOOK AT ALL THIS ABANDONDED SHIT YOU CAN JUMP OFF OF AND STUFF!" Detroit has finally found an event that it is perfect for, besides apocalyptic training drills. Also... they might want to NOT advertise that "May is Drinking Water Month in Detroit!". It sounds kind of... third world. |
| 2 weeks 12 hours ago | Possibly. Or they would just |
Possibly. Or they would just institute "athletic fees" like 95% of universities do... forcing students to subsidize money-losing athletic programs so that others can play games. And yes, there is some argument that "but then the students get to watch sports and MARKETING!" Unfortunately, there is no opt-out option if you don't want to attend athletic events or don't have any connection to "school spirit" (grad student). Also, how many schools are actually helped by sports visibility? Does Memphis get any additional applications because they have crappy sports teams you can watch? Maybe some people choose certain schools to watch A sport, but I doubt anyone has ever chosen to attend a school due to their fandom of any women's sport (save UConn / Tenn) or men's non-revenue sports (outside of a few random teams). The school will just tack on an additional $1,000 at the beginning of each semester... who's gonna notice that on top of the $20,000 or $40,000 bill they're already paying? But hey! At least the players are gettin' PAIDDDDDDDD biotch. PEOPLE FORGET AT MOST SCHOOLS THE NORMAL STUDENTS ALREADY F***ING SUBSIDIZING THE PLAYERS JUST TO BE THERE BECAUSE THE MARKET DOESN'T SUPPORT HAVING 20 CRAPPY SPORTS TEAMS NO ONE WANTS TO WATCH. NOW PEOPLE ARE BITCHING AND MOANING THAT A FEW PLAYERS MAY OR MAY NOT BE GETTING "UNDERPAID" AFTER RECEIVING A $250,000 SCHOLARSHIP AND GETTING ACCEPTED TO A SCHOOL MANY OF THEM WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN INTO IN THE FIRST PLACE? (yes, picture an old man yelling, if it's good enough to get O'Reilly's point across, it'll get mine across as well.) That's what a university is all about.

| 2 weeks 14 hours ago | Stipends assume athletes |
Stipends assume athletes WOULD get a part-time job anyways. I doubt they'd have time during the season. I would think it's okay in the summer as most students do get summer jobs (although the school pays for their room and board during the summers if they stay, correct? That's not an option for other students and worth more than what you'd make working for minimum wage). Plus, what percent of students have part-time jobs anyways? 50%? I'm not sure but you'd certainly be giving extra money to some athletes who wouldn't work anyways (remember, the maj. of athletes play sports that aren't exactly lower-class sports, Golf, Water Polo, Tennis, Soccer, Baseball, Hockey, etc). And for most, your parents should be slipping you some $ if they have any means whatsoever, as 1. the athlete is possibly saving them for paying for an education or, 2. at least getting out of the house and getting free room and board. Hell, if my kid gets a full athletic ride to Michigan, I'm taking him/her to a car dealership and saying, "Pick one and I'm giving you all the pizza money you want, you just saved me $100,000-$200,000". Obviously that's not the case for everyone, but a lot of athletes come from normal, if not very wealthy backgrounds (ever met anyone who plays Water Polo... BMWs baby, BMWs). |
| 2 weeks 14 hours ago | The basketball argument is |
The basketball argument is really weakened by the European leagues. Want to get paid? Go to Europe. Plus, that gets SOME bad-apples out, as the kids who don't want to go to school just don't. Can you still Lebron-it to the NBA (sorry, not a fan so I don't keep up on the rules). The NFL is a different story because 1. no other league, 2. kids are too small coming out of high school to make the jump. |
| 2 weeks 14 hours ago | I mean, Scout and Rivals do |
I mean, Scout and Rivals do have staffs of guys trying their best to evaluate how talented these guys are. They're not lying. With a limited staff, why not use some of their knowledge? I mean, unless the kids send tapes or coaches know to look at certain schools, how are some guys going to get spotted? How does Michigan find players in Utah? I wouldn't be using this to knock Urban, if anything it's a smart move. Obviously you don't want to depend on the rankings wholeheartedly, but what's bad about another set of eyes and another opinion? |
