no doubt

the situation was much worse at stanford.  i can't argue with that.  but wins are the bottom line and JH is one year ahead on the same trajectory as RR is now.  my point is only numerical.  and the numbers show improvement along the same lines for both coaches.

3....5.....7....(2011 ??)

we certainly aren't going to get worse next year with 19/22 returning.

It's not where you've been

it's where you're at, and he was at or near the same place as RR during his third year.  You have to be a fool to ignore that from 3 wins to 5 wins to 7 or more wins is improvement.  Would a 9-3 record next year and 11-1 record the following year (denard senior), not be good enough for you?

Not worth it IMO to change.

This Is Very Clear to Me

Taking a step back, RR rolled the dice and lost.  DD rolled the dice and lost.  That's it.  RR thought he could get in.  DD thought he could get in.  DD didn't get in.  This has happened with recruits before, and it will happen again.  We wouldn't be up in arms if this was another recruit who didn't qualify.  The fact that DD is a stud is the only reason we're more passionate about things.

I agree going forward we need more communication b/t Admissions and the coaching staff, but RR and DD gambled and lost.   Let's move on.

Admissions Contact

I called Admissions, and someone there informed me that the individual handling calls re: DD is a gentlemen named Bruce something at 734-764-4423.

Here's my take on TC I don't understand why if he truly cared about the program and his teammates he'd talk to the media instead of keeping it in house. Here's my post on it: http://www.michiganfootballblog.com/2009/09/why-didnt-toney-clemons-kee….
I agree and what bothers me most about this is that the average fan isn't reading this site, engaging in these arguments. They only read the Freep or listen to ESPN. So it's more likely to splinter the Wolverine community over time.
No problem Easy David. I'm happy to link to the blog. I thought I was doing everyone a favor by using the shorter URL, which I also use on my Twitter feeds. Here's the longer one if you'd prefer that one: http://www.michiganfootballblog.com/2009/08/why-espn-and-general-media-…. Thanks for the read.
Yeah 2 of 3 would be great. But D-Line remains a huge need in this class. We need 2 or 3 there, plus another 1 or 2 at OL.
One thing I noticed.... from the video I watched was that he shed blocks extremely well. He always seemed to have his eyes on the second level, and had good separation and timing when he needed to break free. He didn't seem to have that extra spark or jump in his step, and obviously isn't the fastest guy around. I don't want to be the first to say that he has fullback potential, but he does.
Curious to see... if you can get your hands on some of his video. Eager to see what the kid can bring to the table.
I agree... strong redshirt candidate. Assuming Gallon qualifies and J. Stokes doesn't redshirt, slots ahead are Odoms, TRob, Roundtree, Gallon, and Stokes.
Seems a little big... for a RR and company LB, no? He's at 235 right now at around 6'3", so who knows how much more he can put on. Plus, rivals lists his speed at 4.7. I'm thinking hand down DE/LB or solid MLB in the future, if offered, but he may lack ideal frame size and speed. My guess is he's not being offered b/c there are other LBs we may believe we're close to getting (Wilkens, Johnson, etc.).
Defensive Recruiting I'm feeling fairly confident we'll land Cullen and one of Mathis or Wood at corner, but I'm getting worried re: LBs and D-linemen. We have a few key recruits at LB and DE attending the BBQ, so hopefully some good will come from that event. I keep telling myself it's very early in the process....
I am hoping that Jeremy pulls through with the grades I think he will be a tremendous talent, and agree he can contribute immediately. I will go one step farther and say he has a chance to surpass Odoms by the end of the year, assuming he progresses and can hold onto the ball. From what I can see, he has better hands and moves after the catch, although Odoms was injured last year. Even pre-injury, I didn't see the flashes that I've seen from Gallon, which were on display during Army week. Very high on Gallon, and think he'll be a great fit.
I like how he implies it's okay because they are in the business of recruiting. Really? So none of the other big 10 schools are, huh? And Ohio State must recruit 10 x as hard to get 1/2 the violations. Hilarious.
Couldn’t agree more Quite easily Cap is the dumbest college football blog I’ve ever read. It really isn’t even worth answering these fools, but I guess when they attack you, you kind of have to respond. http://tiny.cc/xvQoQ
There really isn't much new to add here.... I think as long as fans see improvement in most every facet of the game (read: so long as we don't turn the ball over 6 times to teams like Notre Dame), they will tolerate a .500 record. If, however, we do not demonstrate improvement in most areas, then the debate begins. But we should end the speculation until the Fall. What's the point in talking now about what will happen to our Coach if the sky falls?
Is there a chance.... he'll camp at Michigan or at least make another trip to Ann Arbor before he decides? If not, I agree it may look like this one is headed in ND's direction. Hope he chooses UM.
Seems like a smart kid I like the fact that Brennan is looking at the whole package, including academics and the depth chart. He's a different type of back than S. Hopkins and they could really be a nice duo in the backfield and play to different strengths.
Seriously Let's hope that any departures come from position groups where we're solid in the two deep. Frankly, any departures from the defensive side of the ball scare me quite a bit.
All I can say is "wow" I'd really like to know Kevin's side of the story. Was there some misunderstanding or bad advice or was this really a huge screw up on his part? Either way, tremendous pressure on Coach Rodriguez to suspend him indefinitely. Has anyone ever suited up for Michigan after serving jail time? More of my thoughts at www.michiganfootballblog.blogspot.com.
It will be interesting.... to see how Je'Ron is worked into the program. Hemingway and Stonum will be pretty solidified on the outside, assuming they continue to progress, and Odoms/TRob/Gallon will battle it out for the short/small guy slotdot position. Stokes can play both positions, and he represents more of a taller, thinner slot, akin to Carlos Brown/Mike Shaw use last year, than the little guys. Definitely one to watch. www.michiganfootballblog.blogspot.com.
Great post just linked to it with some new photos and tidbits at http://tiny.cc/EvXdj. enjoy!
Great recap I was there as well. Everything was spot on and I just wanted to write to emphasize Coach Rodriguez's hilarity. Really funny dude, who also sported a pretty serious tan. It's obvious he's been doing a lot of recruiting in Florida. I'll have a few extra pictures up this afternoon on the link below. www.michiganfootballblog.blogspot.com
