|5 days 7 hours ago||Team chemistry||
has been mentioned several times this off-season as something that they are really working hard to improve. From my personal experience of football, the best teams I played on were the ones that had some kind of bonding that really made everyone close. I was on a team that traveled to another state and spent extra time the night before goofing around the opposition's campus as a whole group with no coaches. We had so much fun that night that it really loosened us up and really brought us together. The next day we won 42-6 and it was all because we were together in a sense that we hadn't been all season. There's something about that that really translates on the field.

(which isn't often at all) it just gets slammed for every reason you can think of. It used to discourage me from writing posts. That's what I think you are all aiming at. However, I just expect it now. I'm going to keep posting things I think are interesting from time to time, and if it means a giant neg-bang I'm ok with that. This is the best Michigan blog anywhere and I would like to try and contribute from time to time.

If you guys want, meet me at 11:10 on the corner directly across the street from Ravelli Hall, closer to the stadium to walk in with the band. If you haven't done this before, you will make it a tradition going forward. Coolest way to enter The Big House, period. Go Blue!!!

For those as challenged as me at this, I just figured out that if you copy it into a Word file and then use the "paste from word" button on this site, you will get the formatting you want. Learn something new everyday...

Formatting on this site is a skill that eludes me - (obviously). Can one of the mods help a brother out here? I made it look right before hitting save in both plain text and the other choice and they both turned out looking horrible...

I agree that Coach Manning seems like the perfect fit for the team and the staff. He adds some much needed youth to help relate to the younger generation, enthusiasm that always goes a long way, and credibility from having started on teams with Big Ten Championships. I really think he's working his butt off to get these kids ready, and this secondary has the talent to be something special for years to come. I hope we see some big splash plays this weekend! I can't wait to go to the Big House soon!!

This defense will lead the way this year. I'm really excited to see how they perform in our non-conference matchups. The ND and Utah games will be really good tests for us early. I can't wait to tailgate in less than a week!! Go Blue!

Man, this can't get here soon enough. I was also really impressed with how articulate Jehu is and how thoughtful his answers were. He is among a group of talented young guys that will make for a nasty group of upperclassmen in the future. This year is pivotal to the progress of our football program and I really think these first four games are huge for setting the tone this season. ND will be a good road test that if passed can pay big down the road for us. Go Blue!!!

Thanks for posting. It reminds me of the football version of 42 maps from Hank Green on youtube. OK, I'll just embed that one...

To see halftime adjustments on offense. Play calling that will try to focus on matchups more than scheme. Funchess will be the man this year. Peppers getting his first pick. JMFR causing havok all over the field. Frank Clark with a strip/sack. DeVeon and Derrick getting TD's in the same game. Canteen wide open on a double move. Gardner with another play action TD run. (Too many things to mention them all). Go Blue!!
|3 weeks 2 hours ago||Fantastic. I can't get enough||
Fantastic. I can't get enough of the X's and O's here. Can't wait to read the coaches' responses here. I hope they rep this stuff enough to get a feel for these schemes. I know that cutback can be deadly if excecuted right. I am interested in seeing counters, traps and all the different action that helps create holes schematically instead of just slamming it forward 27 times in a row...
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Depth..||
There is really nice experience and depth all over the defense this year. Added depth will really pay off late in games where we will pull away or close the gap. I'm still wondering who will win the open safety position. I am hoping DThomas wins it, just because I would love to have that much more speed on the field. If you have Countess, Taylor, Wilson, Thomas, Peppers in the secondary, then I think the team speed at the back end would be deadly. I wanna see these guys fly around and fk.sht.up. We will see a ton of 3WR+ sets and the need for a third corner will be often.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||We should all hook up before a game!||
I've tried to give people directions to my spot with good food and endless drinks (I sell spirits and wine for a living), but to no avail. What about if we all meet up on the corner across from Revelli Hall about ten minutes before the Band starts marching in? Could be cool to meet a few of you and walk into the stadium together. That's the best way to enter the Big House, hands down.

is the "Son of Hibachi" grill. It's portable, folds up and comes with a flame retardant bag that you can stick a fully lit grill into. It's badass, and actually gives you more space to cook on than most small grills. You keep it closed to light it, like a chimney, and then fold it down when the coals are ready. I've been tailgating with mine at Michigan for over 10 years and I'm about to buy a second one. You've gotta check it out.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||X-Factors||
I think Derrick Green and DeVeon Smith are paramount to the success of this team. Yes, the O-line needs to come together and create more holes to run through. I still think these big backs will crush opponents and create that 1-3 yards in the first half that translates into 5-7 by the 4th quarter. Frank Clark - it's his time to shine. This dude should lead the team in sacks and create havok all over the backfield. Jake Ryan - his new move to Mike should be interesting. I'm hoping that he doesn't have to think too much given a position switch, and he can just tear around and blow up the plans of our opposition. Freddie Canteen - Freddie has the quickest feet and best moves of anybody I've seen at WR in a minute. I really think he shines early and often, and the duo of Funchess and Canteen will be tough for teams to stop. Nuss - coach Nuss has a ton of nice weapons at his disposal, and I really like how he gets after the kids when he coaches. He seems to be a tireless teacher on the field, and I really think his energy and enthusiasm will go a long way with helping our offense improve.

That's instantly what comes to mind about that game. The wheel route that our defense was helpless against, even after halftime. I can't imagine being on a coaching staff that wouldn't fix something easy like that at the half (let alone during a game). That was a microcosm of how bad our defensive coaching really was.

also a huge fan of Sirius XM ch.91 - I even listen to Finebaum sometimes just because his callers are like watching a train wreck. An earlier poster said he's gone, but he just moved to a different channel. Bill King knows more about national recruiting than pretty much anybody except for maybe his guest every friday morning. Mark Packer is really funny, and even though coach Neuheisel (too lazy to google the spelling) is a Pac-10 homer I really like his takes on college football. There is a ton of SEC love all over the station, but let's face it: they are the king of the hill right now. The B1G needs to start winning some Championships before anyone will start respecting us again. There isn't any other place where they talk about College sports and 95% College football all day. My dial stays there until commercials and then wanders to the NFL Channel, or one of the many comedy channels. If you work in your car, SIRIUS is a must have IMHO.

See the negative in the guy who left and the positive in the one who takes over. That being said I've loved watching Coach Nuss since I seeing him coach in the Spring Game. The dude was workng hard to teach as much as he could every second. He seems to me like the hardest working on-field coach I can remember. We really have gone total opposite here from mad scientist scheme guy to a guy that's all about proper technique and fundamentals. This is going to be just what our running game needed. DG will be twice as effective a QB with some actual production from the RB's. We really haven't had that for a minute...

I really like the explanation of the read and react cover2/cover 4 scheme. If we utilize this, I would bet that it will take quite a while to get it down, even for a senior. Once they have been drilling this for over a year it could very well get nasty, but I wonder if this will leave two DB's arguing after a play where 2 guys cover the same WR. At least we have some real game time to figure out whatever it is we're up to before heading into South Bend. I can't wait to go to the opener!! Please keep the scheme discussions up - this is one of the many things that makes this blog special.

I've had three Michigan fans join since last night and probably will get more today. Like I said at the top I don't care what you think about me or this game. What's funny is that you took time to click on this thread and comment just to put me down so your tiny ego can feel a bit better than the infinitesimal pea it wishes it wasn't.

Not the most powerful one in my group but in the top 5. We've won 13 wars so far and counting... We have 29 members and I'd love to get it back up to 50 soon.

I love getting pumped up before the season. Funchess will dominate again this year and Derrick Green and DeVeon Smith will pound some fools. Who else will be there for the opener? I can't wait... Go Blue!!

that Denard is on the last version of this game. I also bought this evey year and will miss the new versions coming out. A buddy of mine will make the 2 deep on a B1G team this year and he's mad he just missed being on the game. I hope it does return someday...

I love the immortal moments. A few others for me: UTL was magical. I remember watching the crowd will the team to a comeback with an INT return for a TD vs Wisconsin (was it Thompson?). Sitting in the corner of the endzone when Manningham caught the TD pass vs. Penn St. with seconds that Lloyd argued for. John Vaughn returning kicks like lightning. The ATrain dragging dudes 10
