I think it was Ruben Jones…

I think it was Ruben Jones. Ruben Jones is the best defender on the team. Gayle is good at defending as well.

I was trying to be nice

I was trying to be nice

Chaundee is literally a 3…

Chaundee is literally a 3 and D wing/guard. Cason is a true G who can handle and pass. Not the same type of player.

It speaks to the type of guards Dusty wants in his roster. He wants guards to be able to handle, pass, make good decisions and score.

Also, Michigan is in a good…

Also, Michigan is in a good shape with Goldin so that pretty much fills the scholarship limit assuming Nimari and Jace are part of it.

on Philea side, yes. For…

on Philea side, yes. For others, not necessarily.

I think Wolf is a 5 but from…

I think Wolf is a 5 but from it sounds like May will give him some minutes at PF. It'll happen in the B1G against teams like MSU, Indiana, etc.

I think Cheddar is slotted for 5-10 min a game if he gets it at all. He barely played on a 8 win team, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play much with the current team.

Cheddar isnt a true PF in…

Cheddar isnt a true PF in May system even though he's a shooter. May prefers a wing at PF and Cheddar is most certainly not. He's a stretch big.

Bama brought in 3 forward…

Bama brought in 3 forward and Walters didn't get reassurance from Oats for PT so he transferred for more PT.

Things have also changed…

Things have also changed during Juwan's tenure. NIL and the transfer portal weren't within the scope of his coaching duties, and they changed overnight. Juwan could've done a better job of doing NIL, but Michigan also could've done a better job supporting Juwan. There's no 100% blame game, but both were unprepared to navigate the NIL. Dusty is better equipped to deal with it and understands that NIL is part of the college basketball landscape.

I mean if you look at the…

I mean if you look at the current depth chart

PF: Walters | Wolf | Potential portal player | Cheddar

C: Goldin | Wolf | Cheddar

That's the end of the bench player. He's being recruited over and Cheddar accept it.

Goldin seems the most likely…

Goldin seems the most likely commit. Assuming Jace and Nimari is still on the team then Mahaney becomes priority #1.

Don't think Cason and/or Rooths are in the fold, but Rooths would fit in nicely at the 4 if Mahaney is a no go which moves Gayle to the 2 and Jones to the 3.

Yup, I agree. Cheddar would…

Yup, I agree. Cheddar would likely be the end of the bench player.

FWIW, I think the impact of…

FWIW, I think the impact of Camp Sanderson is overstated. The players stayed in AA for the summer to work on their bodies. Not saying, Sanderson isn't amazing, but I think a lot are overrating the impact of Sanderson. Juwan has made it optional for the players which is played a bit of a role of Sanderson's not happy with Juwan.

As long as May can hire a competent S&C coach and requires the players to stay in the summer to work on their game and body, they'll be fine.

Except Rubin can shoot and…

Except Rubin can shoot and do PnR.

That's:Milk Chamberlain…

That's:

  • Milk Chamberlain
  • Cream Abdul-Jabbar
  • Larry Nerd
  • Larry Blurred
  • College Jokic
  • Rob Wave
  • Steph Blurry

to us!

If Michigan can land Mahaney…

If Michigan can land Mahaney, it would be huge to have Jones as the 6th man and slot in anywhere from 1 to 3 for May. Gayle and Jones can guard the best perimeter player.

With Walters in the fold, Michigan is in great shape for Goldin. If May can reel in Mahaney, I would give the off-season an A+ for assembling a quality roster at a short amount of time. It is coherent and can scale up and down based on the opponent. Plus there's roster balance with different classes for each players.

Both are two different type…

Both are two different type of player. Walters is more of a jumbo wing player who is JAS. Cheddar is a big who can shoot. Big difference between the two types.

I think we're starting to…

I think we're starting to see the trends going towards power running game because defense has gone 2 high shell to prevent explosive plays. The Rams, Lions, SF, LAC, Baltimore are all teams that wants to line up and mash at the LOS. Even the SB champion, KC has started to run the ball more, but it helps that they have Mahomes who is the best QB in the league.

Trends are cyclical from power running game to wide open passing game and now back to power running game. Defense has gotten smaller and faster so teams are going bigger in response to it. The OL are much more athletic than it used to be 20 years ago.

Just one. He'll use his grad…

Just one. He'll use his grad year to play at Michigan.

He shot 83% in FT so there's…

He shot 83% in FT so there's upside. Plus, he played with a wrist injury on his shooting hand which complicates things in shooting and ball handling. He lost confidence in shooting, but I'm confident that he can shoot in the high 30s to low 40s with more volume.

He shot 60% at the rim and can defend. This is a good pick up for Michigan.

A no brainer? There were a…

A no brainer? There were a lot of fans advocating for different coaches and May wasn't #1 in their wishlist here.

Michigan stole him from Louisville which is hard to do because Louisville is a blue blood program and Manuel should be given a lot of credit in acting swiftly to get May into the fold.

Yes they have good…

Yes they have good recruiting class coming in, but most of the time freshmen don't make an immediate impact in WBB unless they're special like Bueckers. They lost a lot of key players to the portal so they went from a potential top 3 team in the B1G to almost essentially starting over.

Michigan is very thin at the frontcourt and has a lot of guards on the roster so KBA will be forced to play 3-4 guard lineup out of necessity.

Going to be an interesting…

Going to be an interesting off-season for KBA. Philea has made a IG goodbye post to Michigan so she's not coming back. It sucks for KBA because all of the momentum the WBB has have been evaporated. I wonder what is the issue when there are a bunch of players transferring out of Michigan this off-season.

May rather play 3 combo…

May rather play 3 combo guards a wing and a skilled big in his system. Technically a G is a SF, but in reality, it's an another G. He wants them all to be able to handle, pass and make good decisions.

Everywhere I've read he's 7'…

Everywhere I've read he's 7' and is a better fit at the 5. He'd be a turnstile on defense at the 4. He would play the 4 against teams that like to play 2 bigs like Indiana, MSU, Wisconsin, etc.

Jones was the Conference USA…

Jones was the Conference USA DPOY. T-Will is nowhere near as good as him on defense. Jones can guard 1-3 and fit in whatever lineup it needs him to be which is valuable.

It's probably Rueben Jones,…

It's probably Rueben Jones, G from North Texas. Can shoot defend and play from 1-3 with his size at 6'5"

Davis reportedly is pricing…

Davis reportedly is pricing himself out of other p5 schools with his NIL demands. Unless he comes down on the price demand, he'll have trouble getting what he wants from NIL money.

It's the QB and MIKE LB that…

It's the QB and MIKE LB that gets the radio.

Eh, the last re-design was…

Eh, the last re-design was not good. Making it bigger won't solve the can't read numbers issues.

The new design is much better than the last one by a wide margin.

The last numbers sucked and…

The last numbers sucked and hard to read IMO

Gayle, come on over to the…

Gayle, come on over to the good guys!

Oregon defense was really…

Oregon defense was really good last season at top 15. Lanning is a defensive coach with Saban/Smart concept in pattern matching and a lot of 2 gapping to stop the run game.

Well Johnell Davis has a…

Well Johnell Davis has a visit to AA lined up so the rumor may be wrong?

Signing with Roc Nation…

Signing with Roc Nation doesn't preclude him from returning to college basketball.

Also, apparently he isn't in line to graduate like Vlad which complicates things for Michigan recruiting. That's probably why May is casting a wide net on guards. If May can land Gayle from OSU, that's a decent fallback option if Davis isn't an option.

It's pretty clear that we…

It's pretty clear that we need an MGo Post about the transfer eligibility. Most do not understand how it works. Grad transfers are auto transfers for Michigan. Freshmen and Sophomores are mostly fine, especially freshmen. Sophomores are fine as long as they don't exceed 60 credits, and probably, they will have to take a couple of classes in the summer.

He is a good PG but he's…

He is a good PG but he's more of a final piece than a featured piece. Also, a lot of blue blood programs are after him so I don't see Michigan in this one.

Johnell Davis is still a…

Johnell Davis is still a Michigan lean if he decides not to go pro. Going pro is his #1 option if he can get there. Otherwise, Michigan leads.

Freshmen and Sophomores are…

Freshmen and Sophomores are fine in terms of transferring. As long as they don't exceed 60 credits from the original school, they should be able to transfer.

I thought McCord was just…

I thought McCord was just okay. Not good like most think he is here.

Contrary to the popular…

Contrary to the popular opinion, I want Bryson to make a charge to win. I come to like him and YouTube played a big role in me liking Bryson. He seems like a good guy with some quirk. He's a huge golf nerd who constantly searches for an edge.

If Jace is a problem player,…

If Jace is a problem player, he wouldn't be back. May has zero obligation to keep him since he used up 4 years of scholarship. I think Sanderson wanted to use Jace as an example to rail on Juwan.

I think Nike was losing…

I think Nike was losing money on golf and has largely abandoned golf market except for Tiger.

I mean Juwan has landed a…

I mean Juwan has landed a bunch of transfers to his team like Mike Smith, Chaundee Brown, Devante Jones, Jaelin Llewellyn, Joey Baker, Nimari Burnett, and Oliver Nkamhoua.

It's just happen that Caleb Love and Terrance Shannon are two high profile transfers that did not get admitted.

Because JB told him which…

Because JB and Warde told him which type of players can get through in transfer portal. Dusty knows what to expect from the transfer portal and is basically targeting freshmen/sophomore and grad transfers.

Grad transfers are nearly automatically admitted so it's not a problem.

I would be surprised if Wolf…

I would be surprised if Wolf plays PF unless they play Indiana or teams that likes to play two bigs on the floor.

I think Scheffler wins it if…

I think Scheffler wins it if he's putting holds up for him. He is one of the best ball strikers on the tour, and I know many PGA-certified coaches are confused by his backfoot sliding techniques that defy convention.

New name on the board: Tre…

New name on the board: Tre Donaldson, G from Auburn.

He's visiting Michigan on April 19th. It'll be interesting to see if both Donaldson and Holloway wants to transfer to the same school since both are competing for the same position. Although Dusty's system would allow both on the court since both can be on ball and off ball guards. Holloway doesn't fit the ideal size that May look for in a guard but he's a former 5* recruit with elite shooting.

I mean KBA has brought in an…

I mean KBA has brought in an elite recruiting class including two McD AAs. The roster has a lot of guards and very light on the frontcourt. The frontcourt is an issue for KBA at the moment.

Iowa was certainly elevated…

Clark certainly elevated Iowa, but Iowa had been a very good team before CC. Bluder has recruited well and consistently in finding quality players like Gutsafon, CC, etc. She has a good track record that we shouldn't expect Iowa to fall off the cliff, though they'll lose a lot in CC, Marshall and Martin from the starting lineup. Iowa does have a #9 class coming in. They made it to the Elite 8 before CC, so it's not unreasonable that they're an S16, E8 team in the post-CC era.
