So does ace have the "Goodbye George Cambell" post queued up? I guess not. Well maybe the hello post can be faxed over to an FSU/Bama blog when the time is right.

OH, *now* I get it... yeah, try to put yourself in this guy in the jeans' shoes... he's minding his own business, getting a vanilla-bullshit-frapcat-halfcap-doublefrap-latte and this dude in M swag comes up looking for a picture. it's like, .... really?

eh, IDK. he was Denard before Denard came along- minus the world class speed. Except it was during the Carr era, so he was so intriguing. I don't actually think his abscence hurt the program - in all likelyhood, he would have been used like Denard is now with the Jags. Playmaker, wildcat QB package. It was the intrigue surrounding his potential in an era where M just never had anything like him at QB. Of course, when RR came along the "what about Bass" meme just continued more than it would have otherwise. RR gave that dead horse legs. the bottom line is, he was such a great "what-if" story that just kept popping up, partly b/c of the length of his rehab, and then later b/c RR came along to perpetuate the "what-if""

If only Antonio Bass didn't destroy his knee. I read he is still rehabbing and might come back if things go well tho.

Do army, navy, AF recruit? I can't imagine they have a lot of options at the d1 level when it come to targeting recruits. I would think anyone who is considering an academy would have sports as a distant 3rd and at the D1 level that doesn't leave a lot of talented kids. If the just pull from the available student body, that's all te more impressive.

Last 4 years:
11-3, 11-2, 7-6 and 12-1
7-6, 11-2, 8-5, and 7-5
at this point, the 2 programs have completely switched places. they are the team winning the B10 and going to the Rose Bowl, M is playing in the toilet bowl. They win 10-11 games most years, M manages it as often as a leap year. M has inexplicable win vs ND, they lose to ND.
there is absolutely no reason to believe that next year Team A who finished 8-0, 12-1 will be worse than Team B who is 3-5, 7-6. Especially considering team A is at home next year.
I remember the days when M would finish 5-3 in conf, and everyone freaked the fuck out. now, we're hoping for M to have a year (2015?) where EVERYTHING falls just perfectly right for us to have a chance to win the division- schedule easy, everyone is a SR, 5th year with out any coaching transition.

I have seen papers that try to explain the observational evidence for Dark matter as resulting from a change in the inverse sqaure law when the masses are greater than, oh about 10^6 solar mass (IIRC). something like this:
Normal Gravitational Force: F=Gmm/(r^2)
Gravitational Force for M> 10^6 soalr masses: F=Gmm/(r^(2+h))
where h is a small correction to the square part of the inverse square law. nothing much comes of it b/c it cannot provide explanations for other observations.
re: science and belief. everyone has some kind of belief. the difference b/t scientific and , er... not-so-scientific beliefs is the one is based in evidence (objective, verifiable and repeatable evidence such that one can make reliable PREDICTIONS based on their hypotheses).
I'm not sure there any many scientists would be doubtfull of the gravitational effects matter has on light. the reason is that Einstein's GenRel theory was able to PREDICT the apparent position of Mercury's orbit and that prediction matched exactly what was observed.
additionally, based on the theory of the gravitaional effects on light (spacetime, really), scientists could calculate (read: predict) what it would look like for a galaxy to be gravitaionally lensed due to a central massive object. and low, those predictions matched precisely the observed lensing images. anyway, the worth of a theory only goes as far as it's utility to explain as many observations as possible (well enough to make predictions). A great quote I heard a few years ago was from Richard Feynman, IIRC. It goes something like this:
The theory of the electron is quite a remarkable one. It would be even more remarkable if the electron really did exist.
the point being, whether the electron actually exists or not is inconsequential- the fact remains that the theory we have developed provides such accurate predictions that it's validity is all but unimpeachable.

I agree- I keep comparing him to Tim Massaquoi, who was a HUGE HS WR out of PA- everyone knew he was too big to be a WR, but M recruited him to "compete" at WR. It was a forgone conclusion that he'd get RSed, move to TE and not see the field for 3 years, which is basically what happened. his blocking was brutal until his RSJR year, was poised to be all B10 as a SR and broke his hand.
it would have been great to RS Funchess let him work into TE, but that time passed long ago. the process described above (75% TE blocking in practice, but lots of PT @ WR if he can't block) sounds good to me.
