Not the first fire drill kick

Gibbons played amazingly well. I do want to shine light on the fact that this is not the first time such a kick has been made though, as Brian is claiming, if you are willing to count games from the NFL.

Broncos vs. Bills in 2009. I am having trouble finding video of it, but here is a game recap: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8022cb8d/article/elam-saves-broncos-bills-everett-suffers-serious-injury

"The Broncos were out of timeouts when Jay Cutler hit Javon Walker for an 11-yard catch with 14 seconds left, leading to a mad scramble onto the field. Broncos holder Todd Sauerbrun got the ball down with 1 second remaining."

That said, excellently executed here as well!

Fair enough; they aren't

That is a valid point. I am currently a student at Michigan, but was born and raised in Manhattan, KS, and hence have followed KSU all year. The drops are unusual for them. The issue has been accuracy in the passing game. Snyder called Klein a running back who happens to throw the ball occasionally. His accuracy has looked fine hitting wide open receivers, but has struggled when there is coverage. Usually that has meant when they've been able to get receivers wide open due to their running game, they've been able to throw the ball too. Right now they're getting guys open, and in those conditions I think their offense is set to take a big step forward.

It does hurt them that they've had great field position all year long due to true freshman Tyler Lockett, a 2011 all-american return specialist. He's injured for today's game, and Tramaine Thompson hasn't been able to match Lockett's production (and showed his inexperience with catching the ball ont he 2 yard line).

Drops

They also have 5 drops on plays that would have either kept drives going or been big plays in their own right. This isn't a case of nothing is working. They're getting guys open. If they catch those balls and make Arkansas pay for focusing on the run so much, this is a completely different game at this point. Catch a few of those and suddenly running lanes start opening up.

We have a game

Just like that we have a game again. They've had some drops, but I think KSU has actually looked decent so far. The drops have been on wide open passes because they knew Arkansas would be keying on the run. Snyder will have them ready for the second half.

Is that really the shot we want?

That first 3-ball when there was a clear path to the basket? Ugh.

Still a 1-1

Another foul and a missed free-throw . . . *crosses fingers*

ugh, bad shots

Just wasting our possessions here trying long 2s.

This.

Microsoft security essentials is fantastic, better than most paid anti-virus software, and free.

FWIW

K-State has already had their bye week, so Daniel Thomas's yards are coming from only 4 games as compared to Denard's 5. That said, I don't think there's any way shape or form that Denard isn't the frontrunner at this point, but Thomas would likely be higher than 5th in the nation if given an extra game, and he's a much larger part of that offense than those numbers would indicate (Carson Coffman is inconsistant at best, bad at worst).

As someone who grew up in Manhattan, KS but is now attending UM I'm rooting for both to do well. Hopefully the Wildcats can pull off the upset tonight, and the Wolverines can take care of business this weekend.

Considering what week it is

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Michigan and Michigan State (with the good guys on top by a mile of course)

I do believe that was the point

As was the reference to where Michigan QBs will be tonight (M.I.A and the game is being played in Miami). Joke post.

Considering he's already tied for the record . . .

Boy, that sure is a bold statement *eyeroll*. Seriously, The only other player in history to have two 200/200 games in a career is Vince young (one in the regular season and one in the rose bowl).

That has been done before

Marques Tuiasosopo in 1999 with Washington vs. Stanford.

A receiver who goes out of bounds

is not allowed to be the first player to touch the ball. Since we tipped it, he was not the first player to touch the ball, and hence there was no foul on the play.

About the fair catch

I thought making the fair catch at the 30 instead of letting the ball go out of bounds was a fantastic play. You don't know that the ball would've bounced out, it was clearly going to land in bounds, and if it bounced back toward the middle of the field, and heaven forbid UMass recovered it, that would've been a disaster.

The guys (multiple) that fair caught those balls were not the kinds of players I wanted to see returning kicks, and I was perfectly happy to see them take the decent field position and HOLD ONTO THE DAMN BALL and let the coaching staff adjust where we lined up so that Stonum caught the later ones.

Gallon on the other hand should not see another punt this year.
