How everyone seems to leave out the win against #8 Wisconsin last year as a “big” win is amazing to me! Agreed though that Colorado and Penn St we’re good wins last season as well.
So because we lost by 4 to Sparty this year with JOK and a -7 TO margin we just can’t beat MSU?
What makes you say ND will be better next year? They lose 10 starters, including guys all over their vaunted OL. We’ve performed well in all season openers and bowl games under this staff.
OSU in Columbus will of course be tough and I’ll grant you skepticism there, but quit being such a whiny b****. Returning 20 starters. Next year we’ll have the goods. Just like we thought in 2015 we would in 2016.
Notably, the o/u this past week was 45.5. I don’t bet but I told many a friend that this was like requesting free money if you take the under. That held completely true until some explosive plays in the 4th qtr (Higdon’s big TD and IU’s pint return). Still, it took Higdon’s TD in OT to hit the over.
Good teams win close games against lesser teams sometimes. WTF is wrong with you? Look at what Clemson did in that regard LAST YEAR, when it won the National Championship! And seriously, you're going to throw shade at beating that 2016 UW team by 7?
Of course the actual results are all that matters. That's how Harbaugh will be judged. My point is that from our perspective, as ride or die UM fans, we should be able to stop screaming 1-4 and comparing it to Hoke's 2-2 or any other coach's early rivalry record as if we just went out and got whipped 4 times in 5 tries. We watched the games. We know HOW they played out and should be able to be reasonable in understanding what really underlies that 1-4. This latest one was painful and unexpected, yes. But taking away that one game (and no one can be judged on one freaking game), who else would be better than 1-3 in the other 4? Who else would have even taken us to within one botched snap on the last play with a perfect bounce into the other team's hand in stride toward the end zone and 1-2 inches on a spot from 3-1 in those games? If no one (as I believe), then let's quit bitching and support the coach, the team and the process.
Which of them beat rivals in their first 3 years that were at a OSU 2015-17 level? Still, as we know, a couple inches on a spot and he's 1-1 against THAT rival with a CFP appearance to boot.
And yes, 1-2 vs MSU. But can we please not act like the 2015 game was anything other than a once-in-a-lifetime-level amount of bad luck on the last play? Even this year, played earlier in the day (or any time without the monsoon) and I am confident we win, even if ugly.
That 1-4 is a razor's edge from 3-2 and we all know it. It's not far from 4-1 for that matter. And in any event, to act like there is some better option out there to coach this team is a joke. We'll get there with Harbaugh. Quite frankly, if we don't, I don't think "getting there" is possible.
We had 300 yds of offense even with 5 turnovers and almost an entire half played in awful weather. The only team that had more than 255 yds against MSU this year prior to yesterday is ND, which had 355 yds in good weather with 0 turnovers.
The turnovers suck, but without the 1st half fumbles and the weather, which I would argue caused at least 2 of the INTS, we easily would have amassed the 355 yds ND did and almost certainly would have scored enough to win. That's not said to suggest we have a great offense, just that it's not unredeemable. Ifs and buts -- I know -- but my point is simply that I do not think this O is the complete tire fire so many seem to be calling it. I guess we'll see soon enough, but everyone really needs to chill out IMO.
They got two first downs -- the first two of the entire 2H -- one solely due to a BS offsides call and one solely due to complete luck with Lewerke rolling over two guys before touching the ground. The D was sick.
Just what was so embarrassing about that 1-pt loss on the road against the #11 team in the nation just 24 hrs after the guy our entire defense is designed around got injured? If we had been blown out, maybe....
Don't see why Bama winning or losing would make any difference at all. Also, not sure there is any clear benefit to us between PSU/UW in the B1GCG. We'd like to see Clemson, Washington, and Ok State win next week. That leaves only Bama and OSU as 0/1 loss teams. Then 2 spots for these 2-loss teams: UW/PSU (B1G champ), Colorado (P12 Champ), Michigan, Clemson, Washington. Still unlikely, but we would have beaten the 2 conference champs head to head and we would have better wins and losses compared to Clemson. Washington would be out for sure I would think.
Exactly. I don't understand this line of thinking that you can't complain about awful, game-changing calls just because you played an imperfect game against #2 on the road. Of course you played an imperfect game against #2 on the road!
I honestly can forgive the spot because it was so close the home team will almost always get that given what was at stake. But the PI on Perry is the reason Samuel's TD could end the game. It was so obvious.
I think it's a NY6 game no matter what. B1G could even put 2 in the CFP, but even if not, whichever of OSU, UM and PSU/UW winner (if that is the B1GCG) is not in CFP or Rose will get picked up for another NY6. That team would be Top 10 at worst w 2 losses.
I think so and I think it's pretty simple. Assuming a competitive loss at OSU, there is no way we drop lower than 5/6. Thus, all we need is a UW loss to climb back to 4. (And UW still has 3 possible Ls on the schedule: USC, @WSU and P12CG).
The only other team in the conversation would be Louisville. If you compare UM's resume to L'Ville's, as the committee will have to do, there is no objective basis for having them ahead of us. Both will have a competitive loss to a Top 5 team, but ours will have been on road where theirs was at home. Both will have blown out a ranked team at home, but ours will be against a higher ranked opponent (PSU v FSU). From there, Louisville has no other Top 25 wins whereas we will also have wins against #7 Wisconsin and at least Top 20 (possible Top 10) Colorado. It should not be close btwn a 1-loss UM and UL.
Yes. Agreed on all fronts. Rooting for NU, chill out all you "Just win the games" guys, and would rather play NU in B1GCG (but not by a ton). It IS nice to know your opponent will not score 20 pts under almost any circumstances, which I'm not positive you get with NU.
Yes, mushrooms are an awesome addition that I don't always see. Cabbage as well. This is of course in addition to potatoes, corn, etc. God, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it...
Always want OSU to lose. I really want this team to know they are not invincible when they play us. Let some doubt creep in their minds when we punch them in the mouth rather than supreme confidence.
It looks like IU's D is much improved (from dreadful) but their O has taken a step back, especially on the ground. I just really struggle to see how they score more than 10-17 assuming our D stays healthy.
Moreover, if UW beats OSU, we should expect they will win out and we would get a 1- loss UW in the B1GCG rather than a lesser opponent. I think we want OSU to lose Saturday for sure. Just to show that they can be beat if nothing else.
CU's O hasn't been as fast as advertised. Seems like they get to the line fast, but usually check to the sidelines. I hope that helps our DL stay gassed up as the 2H plays out.
My suggestion is to subscribe to PlayStation VUE, a streaming app similar to SlingTV but way better. I feel like a lot of people are not yet aware of this. VUE has 3 pricing levels (channel packages), the middle tier of which is $34.95 and gives you BTN, ESPN, ESPN2 and U, SECN, FS1, FS2 and NFLN. By comparison, SlingTV only gives you the ESPN channels and maybe FS1 (can't recall). The other great thing is that a VUE subscription - which is monthly and can be cancelled anytime, like right after football season - gets you access to the ESPN Watch app. This allows you to watch any game on ABC, even if you don't have cable at all.
I think VUE is a no brainer for anyone considering cutting the cord. It also has pretty much every other popular cable channel you can think of, including all the kids channels for your MGoParents out there.
Exactly. Oklahoma just fell short of what we did in 2013 and will not follow it up with a conference title and Elite 8 next year like we did. They will continue to be a good program with years that a better than others just like us. Lon Kruger is a good coach. However, OU has not become anything that we are not already.
Having this published the day the dead period before signing day begins is genius. An opportunity to reach the remaining recruits and their families one last time with a positive message, while no other coach can. Who's got it better than us, indeed.
What is wrong with you? I mean, what are you suggesting? That we have bad coaches? I want to win the game as bad as anyone, but what do you want from them?
