If it's causing you that…

If it's causing you that much misery then why wallow in that misery on message boards/twitter complaining every day? Maybe take a step back? Find a new hobby that doesn't make you miserable?

I think it can function as

I think it can function as both a noun and an adjective, but is primarily considered a noun.  Most dictionaries and dictionary websites list it first as a noun

I'm surprised an apology

I'm surprised an apology could be viewed so negatively.  If someone apologizes, they should have to just quit?

If you're leading a group of people that fails, apologizing is a way of taking accountability and is something that takes a lot of guts to do, rather than pointing the finger at the team.  It's not uncommon at all either.  Coaches apologize to their team for their game plan or take some form of a "mea culpa" in the press conference all the time.  In my opinion it's what good leaders do.

Tim Tebow in 2008 following

Tim Tebow in 2008 following the Ole Miss loss?

In the OSU game, Evans had 11

In the OSU game, Evans had 11 carries for 67 yards (6.1 YPC) and Higdon had 11 carries for 55 yards (5.0 YPC), so I'd say they did pretty well in that game.  It's important to remove atrocious O'korn self inflicted sacks and FB dives only really needing to get 2 yards (which they did) when assessing the line's performance.

Our last two classes were

Our last two classes were championship caliber.  It's the 2014 (20th nationally) and 2015 (37th nationally) classes that will hold us back this year.

We are not at the point where

We are not at the point where we can reload like OSU, which is the reason for the lower expectations.  Our last two classes were elite, but the 2014 and 2015 classes were ranked 20th and 37th nationally.  The 2015 class is particularly tough, because the top player in the class is no longer with the program (Brian Cole), and the 4th best player is out for the year with injury (Newsome).

The Bama and OSU style reload comes from an elite class every single year, where you always have highly ranked talent entering their upperclassman years.  We're not quite there yet.

Yeah, but on those types of Yeah, but on those types of plays there is typically a fair amount of stopping, cutting, and maneuvering before breaking into a sub 100 yard sprint. A 200 yard race is in no way representative of that. The point still stands that there is never a situation where a player would be running in a straight line for more than 100 yards on a football field.

Clearly this means Najee gave his Michigan gear away to his trainer because he had no need for it as an Alabama player.  Panic!

According to a few of the

According to a few of the recruiting gurus we've led about that long for Wilson too...

What "type" of recruitments

What "type" of recruitments are you referring to?

Definite overreaction to the Definite overreaction to the "should have gone for 2" take. Michigan was outgained 137-5 in the 4th quarter. In overtime, it took OSU 2 plays to score and they made it look easy. It took Michigan 7 plays to do the same, coming down to a 4th down play with a razor thin margin for error that they converted. Not very repeatable. Your team is on the ropes, you're on the road and not getting any calls from the officials, and your injured QB is looking worse and worse as he takes more hits. And you know OSU gets the ball 2nd in the next overtime, which is another disadvantage for Mich. Why wouldn't you want to shorten the game and end it right there? It's true their kicker has missed twice already, but a whole season's worth of data shows he's pretty good. A pretty convincing argument can be made to go for two.. To dismiss the take as terrible doesn't make sense.
Because production is the Because production is the most objective way to quantify "outstanding" and "pursuit of excellence" in a player and their performance, so it does tie in.
The two things aren't really The two things aren't really related. Calling the targeting does nothing to affect MSU properly executing their concussion protocol, it just ejects the player after the fact. The concussion protocol (or lack thereof) directly affects his kid's health. I get being frustrated that an illegal hit on your son was allowed to go un-penalized. But to say people should be worried about that "instead" of questioning the MSU staff is ridiculous
Verbalizing the punctuation

Well verbalizing punctuation isn't is kind of a completely different thing right?. You always verbalize what the punctuation means, not the name of the punctuation.  When you see 100°C you don't say 100 degrees sign C, you say 100 degrees celsius.

But if the kid asks for the

But if the kid asks for the papers to sign and June and they are not sent, it will be pretty clear what position they are in and they can start to look elsewhere very early in the process.  It makes it so coaches can't lead recruits to believe they have a spot for them, when in fact, they don't know if they do.

If employed right, this can

If employed right, this can be really good for recruits.  But some changes need to be made. They basically need to add some clauses to make it really easy for the kid to back out, but not the school.

I would add a laundry list of reasons that recruit can back out of the contract (some are more feasible than others)

1.  The head coach is fired or leaves

2. The position coach is fired or leaves

3. His lead recruiter is fired or leaves

4. The recruit encounters extenuating circumstances in their personal life

5. Some predefined number of recruits at the same position of the recruit are signed after the recruit signs

6. ???

This makes it so the kid isn't stuck if something unforseen happens, and also prevents an Erik Swenson type situation from occurring where a recruit gets screwed over by a coach who ends up yanking their offer at the last minute.  It will also make it veerrry clear which offers are true offers, and which are "offers", which is an improvement.

There's a reason Urban Meyer is adamantly opposed to this, and it isn't because of the kids' well being like he is claiming....

I honestly don't think we

I honestly don't think we should be allowed to play OSU and MSU until we beat OSU and MSU

It's funny, because based on

It's funny, because based on the spring game it looked to me like Speight was getting a lot more velocity on his throws and O'Korn's throws were floating a little.  My conclusion would have been that Speight had a slightly better arm.  Even looking at the Houston highlights, I didn't see many laser throws or instances where he was able to put a lot of mustard on a throw without needing to take extra time to get his whole body into it.

However, many more educated insiders on various sites have said that O'Korn has better arm strength of the two.  Shows what I know...

I used to be in the exact

I used to be in the exact same boat as you on this.  But after thinking about it a little more, I think the distinguishment needs to be made between south" and "southern".  South is primarily a noun, and southern is primarily an adjective.  When you use "south" with a city, it is in order to become a proper noun and denote a specifically recognized and named area.

If they really are just referring to the geographically ambigious south part of Detroit, the correct way to say it would be "southern Detroit".  By saying South Detroit, it is creating a proper noun and assuming that is an established place.

That's why South Africa and southern Africa mean different things.  Or southern America and South America.

It still doesn't explain why people think "South Detroit" would mean Windsor though.  That joke still sucks.

Private company or not, the

Private company or not, the pantone sytem is the industry standard for defining color and the best tool we have to do so.  Naming a pantone is far and away the best way to standardize the color.  The colors are created and evaluated in a standardized way (i.e. standard lighting and environment) and then used on apparel.

You made a lot of good points about how lighting, time of day, humidity, etc can affect how we see colors, and then turned around and said we should go off of what our eyes saw over the years.  Seems contradictory.  Our eyes, and especially photos, can be very deceptive when it comes to color.

But Nike owns Jumpman, so

But Nike owns Jumpman, so they are the same entity.  It is basically Nike putting an alternate logo of their own on the uniforms.  As far as I know, there is no difference to "Jumpman making the uniform" or Nike making the uniform.  Same company, same factories, different logo.

It's a lot different than the Bentley example.

If someone intentionally If someone intentionally chooses the wrong word and it doesn't make sense, then that is a grammar mistake. If they wrote "tomato" instead of their, would you call that a spelling error?
I agree there was a

I agree there was a difference in what we wore last year vs. what we wore the previous few years, there's no denying that. But it's hard to determine which one is the "correct" maize and I would argue that Adidas corrected their error of moving the maize to more of a bright yellow.

What we wore last year is a lot closer to the official color given by the University.  As far as what they wore 20 years ago, it becomes a pretty fruitless exercise trying to compare a picture from 1984 to one from last year.

The official pantone for the

The official pantone for the Michigan maize is 7406C, which is the more golden color that you're describing as "mustard colored"

https://vpcomm.umich.edu/brand/style-guide/design-principles/colors

There's not a lot of value to posting pictures you find online, as there is so much variation with cameras, editing, and lighting.  You can find pictures of last year's team where the maize looks very yellow as well.  It is heavily dependent on how/when the picture is taken

The complete butchering of

The complete butchering of  Joel Honigford's name in that article would seem to indicate that he is a lock for MSU.  We should probably start calling him Mike Longiford now.

The same "under the

The same "under the bleachers" (figurative) argument can be made about camps on campus.  The university doesn't control who stands outside the big house, and a lot of camps are open to media and the public.

Plus, this same thing can happen at recruits high school games, practices, outside their school, online, or at any other event. There are tons of opportunities for shady third parties to introduce themselves to recruits. The risk is already there.  Satellite camps may introduce one additional forum for it, but it is not adding any risk that isn't already there in abundance. It's a really weak argument.

On top of that, people who want to "regulate" camps somehow have to reach the conclusion that a coach doing 10 camps (or some other arbitrary number) will not have a negative impact on third parties being introduced, but doing 11 camps will.

I'm genuinely not

I'm genuinely not understanding the "third party" argument.  How do satellite camps introduce third parties to the recruiting process in a way that is not already there?  The coaches show up, interact directly primarily with recruits and other coaches only, and leave.

If anything, its a incremental increase in risk and not really worthy of an argument, unless I'm completely missing some line of reasoning.

Maybe don't jump to

Maybe don't jump to conclusions based on one tweet.

A more comprehensive article was posted on umhoops and in the last bullet he talks about wanting to schedule less lower DI and DII teams, citing the lower than expected RPI as the reason.

MTSU outplayed MSU that one MTSU outplayed MSU that one game, sure, but that doesn't suddenly make them a better team. I guarantee Syracuse was thrilled they got that matchup and they would have had a much tougher time against MSU. So Syracuse would much rather play MTSU, and MTSU probably only beats MSU 1 out of 10 times they play. How would that not be considered lucky for Syracuse? The same goes for several other teams.
Commenting on the statistical Commenting on the statistical anomaly of all 6 underdogs moving on to face ACC teams in the second round doesn't have to be butthurt...people are allowed to comment on interesting things. Also, if you're suggesting that MSU losing to a 15 seed would somehow result in "butt hurt" around here, you're sadly mistaken.
Syracuse got a 15 seed Syracuse got a 15 seed instead of a 2. Notre dame got a 14 seed instead of a 3. They played higher seeds due to upsets, not because of how they themselves were seeded. How would you not consider that somewhat lucky? Even Duke getting an 11 instead of a 5 makes for a much easier road.

I'm not sure Bye is a better matchup for us.  I honestly can't remember the last time we've gone up against Bye and came away with a W.

Agreed.  I think he brings a skillset to the table that the other receivers in the class do not.

He also came back the next He also came back the next year and got benched after throwing for only 5.5 YPA and 8 picks with only 6 TDs through 6 games. And this was in the AAC. He's obviously got some work to do, but he has all the tools to be great if he can figure out the mental part of the game
