"Admit it, that was a hundred times more fun than any football game this season."
Absofuckingly right. I watched from the opening tip to the very last and all I could think (especially during the second half run) was "God it's nice to have a team that's well coached and GOOD." It was such good basketball from both teams.
With Beilein on the sidelines you know you're never out of a game because at worst, you've got a push with the other team's HC and in most games you're clearly at an advantadge. With Hoke it's exactly the opposite.

Growing pains. My guess is Beilein will have the team playing just fine by March. This happens.

Nor do I. The timing of the termination and hiring of Nuss seems far too well orchestrated for Hoke to pull off.

Guys settle down. There are DOZENS of Ohio and Miami fans eager to see the end of this titanic struggle. Undisputed possession of fourth place in the MAC East is riding on it.

Oh man I've been pissing them off right afterwards by telling them to stop worrying. While Barrett did want to transfer he got turned down by admissions cause his grades and SAT scores were too low.

After the first game of the season this year, rookie Head Coach of the Cleveland Browns Mike Pettit was asked the question "how does it feel coach to know your team never quit, never gave up and almost won?" (The Browns were down 27-3 to the Steelers at half, came back to tie the game but lost on an end of game field goal 30-27). His answer sums up how I feel about this post:
"There's a term we use in the NFL to describe "almost winning". It's called LOSING."
I hate that we've sunk so fucking low that moral victories are something we're calling upon for inspiration now.

You want hate? I'll give you hate. Those fuckers tore down our banner
We won the game in 1974. The refs called a very obviously game winning field goal no good.

I wish our team was so fired up and intensely focused on beating OSU that Hoke had to issue such an edict to Michigan to not punch somebody.
All Hoke has to do remind them to not bring their camping gear onto the field and we're ok.

God that video clip makes me so sad. I was at that game and remember thinking that we fucking OWNED the future cause we had the best offensive mind in the game wearing our colors. Watching that play, and how utterly unstoppable it is, and then comparing to the dredge that Hoke thinks passes for offense literally makes me sick to my stomach.

I could not agree more with that statement Ferris. Absolutely 100% correct.

One is very likely (but not by any means 100% unfortunately)
Two is a maybe. It's NOT a "done deal" like everybody here hopes it to be. That's my point - we've collectively gone all "he's coming...he's coming" and if he doesnt we can still get a damn good coach but it seems to me like the board convinces itself daily this is a sure thing and it's anything but. Everyone seems to think that in a conflict with the GM the Owner is going to side with the GM and run Jim out. What if he doesnt? What if the GM is let go instead? IMO it's easier to find competent GMs in the NFL than coaches as good as Harbaugh.
Look - I want the dude as much as anybody here. I KNOW he would turn us around immediately and restore the program. I'm just trying to pump the brakes a bit on the EXPECTATION he is coming.
|1 day 1 hour ago||I'm sorry but these Harbaugh||
I'm sorry but these Harbaugh threads remind me of this. It seems to me like we've gone "all in" on so many freaking assumptions:
1. That Hoke will be fired
2. That Harbaugh will leave the 49ers
3. That if Harbaugh leaves the 49ers he won't want to stay in the NFL (cause he's sure as Hell gonna have a bunch of offers from other teams)

I live in Northern Ohio and have since 1987. The saddest part of the rivarly these days is that they really don't "hate" us anymore like they used to. They really don't. They PITY us and that is exponentially fucking worse let me tell you. I'm wearing my Michigan gear proudly and have my Michigan flag flying high in front of my house. In years past I'd get a lot of snide, sometimes profane, comments about my clothing choices. These days? Nothing. Just a sad smile and shaking of the head and usually a comment like "what the heck is wrong with you guys?"
Read the comments of people going to the shoe and it's totally different now too. When I was there it was a jungle and they hated every fiber of our being. Nowdays it's like we used to treat the idiot fans of teams like Purdue that would travel to the Big House to watch their squad get slaughtered. Anybody here get upset with a travelling Purdue fan lately? Didn't think so.
Nobody really hates anymore cause we've become Purdue. How much does that suck?
|1 day 20 hours ago||I swear to fucking God it||
I swear to fucking God it seems more and more each day that the ONLY people who give two shits about the record of the football team are the fans. Everybody else - players, ex-players, coaches, ex-coaches - seem to think wins and losses are just not that important in the grand scheme of things.
|1 day 20 hours ago||Sorry Turd but I could not||
Sorry Turd but I could not disagree with your first bullet point any stronger. As a matter of fact I think the lack of "negativity" inside the coaching staff is one of the primary causes of the shitstorm we find ourdselves in the middle of. Who is held accountable for the stream of missed assaignments, blown plays, bad penalties and poor execution? Who has been benched or pulled from a game for not performing up the apparently lofty standards set in practice? Where is the negative feedback loop Bo used to give to players who screwed up?
If you've seen it ever applied I sure missed it. I think we have a team full of t-ball players where everybody gets to play first base and every hit is a HOME RUN! And as far as the coaches go - all games end in a tie cause it's effort, not results, that matter and we woudn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

FWIW that wasnt at all the point of my post as I'm well aware that everyone is well aware.

|1 day 23 hours ago||Fandom||
"The depths of my fandom have been tested; there's a bottom there. I'm fed up with ticket prices and the cookie-cutter inanity imposed on a Michigan Stadium experience that used to be unique."
I hit that place last year right after the Nebraska game and decided to give up my tickets. The sad thing is I dont miss them and I dont miss being at a place I lterally planned my entire fall around for almost 30 years. Where I used to go to every home game, one away game and literally scream at the TV when not in attendance I now stay at home and just shake my head in disgust at what I'm watching. There is no emotion, no sense of outrage and once the game is mercifully over I just turn off theTV and do something else and dont think about it again.
Does that passion ever return once extinguished? Maybe if Harbaugh is hired it'll come back to me but I cant help but wonder if the coaching malpractice inflicted by Hoke these past three years didnt damn near kill what I once held dear.

Bang on Brutus. What scares me are all the "obviously Hoke is fired" posts that assume something has happened that actually hasnt occurred yet. And with the number of players, ex-players and other folks inside the AD department all seemingly in Hoke's corner I fear that Hackett might actually decide to give Hoke another year.

So does your negative opinion of organized groups that have members who do bad things extend to ALL groups or just the ones you personally object to?
For some reason I have a hunch that if someone were to make the same statement you just made about abolishing fraternities about a particular religion that was populated with extremists who liked to blow themselves up while committing mass murder, you'd have a fit.
