I think road games are an absolute blast. I've been to Wisconsin twice, Notre Dame twice Purdue, MSU and OSU.
Favorite for Friday night party: Wisconsin
Favorite for Saturday tailgate: Notre Dame
Favorite for game experience: Notre Dame
Least favorite: Purdue (place just sucked)
We went to the 2006 & 2010 ND games so I'm 2-0 against Touchdown Jesus. In 2006 we set up our tailgate on the front lawn of somebody's house across from the stadium and not long after we got set up a guy set a BBQ stand next to us and traded us sandwhiches for beers. Then the house next to us filled up with the following families: The Long's, the Henne's & the Rivas's (apparently Mr Rivas went to every Michigan game home and away even though he lived in Miami). Mrs Henne had a list of all the players families and was on the phone coordinating getting everybody to our little location which was pretty damn cool.
So between the BBQ guy, meeting the players families and kicking ND's over-rated ass that was one hell of a road trip.

True but think for a second what could've been if the rumors and negative recruiting hadnt scared off some of the bigger fish that at one time had Michigan as their favorite. Hoke has shown the ability to get recruits at the highest level to consider and commit, I am convinced that if last year hadnt tanked so badly we'd be looking at a recruiting class for the ages.
Hoke has done very well recruiting make no mistake. But I think he has the abiity to be truly great here. And once the whispers about his job security go away I think he will.

9-3 with competitive losses to ND, MSU & OSU but wins everywhere else. A second place finish in the East. A New Years Day Bowl win over a middle tier SEC team giving the team a lot of positive national buzz going into 2015.
Fueled by this season't resurgance Hoke's strength, recruiting, returns to the extremely high level he's shown he's capable of. The end of the whispers about Hoke's future and a high level of optimism and expectations for 2015. And rumors of Nuss potentially leaving to take a high-profile HC gig elsewhere.

Kyrie, Waiters, Wiggins, Thompson and Varejeo are definitely a better, younger and more stable long-term option than Bosh, a broken down Wade and whatever scraps Miami can put together after that.
I think the chances are still 50-50 he comes back home but I'm more optomistic about the Cavs now than I've been since four years ago yesterday - that's for damn sure.

Seth - I am so, so sorry for your loss. I lost my father on October 15th, 2008 at the age of 86 and not a day goes by that I dont miss him. I know exactly how you feel and will keep you and your family in our prayers.

I'm with you on this one - I'd rather he be upstairs if given a choice but if he's getting solid, reliable info it doesnt really matter. I also think you touched on the "why" in your earlier post in this thread when you said this would give him a better read on the emotions and psyche of the team.
If you've got a team that isnt real sure of itself and needs encouragement you want to be shoulder to shoulder with them on the field. But my question is - isn't that what Brady was suppose to be doing? I thought that he was sort of the "Chief Encourgement Officer" on the team. Or is that just for the defense?
Makes me wonder.

You do realize their is some room between "great" and the abomination we fielded last year right?
I'd be happy if they were just slightly below average as that would represent a quantum leap in effectiveness from last season's hot mess.

10-3 is my prediction as well. Lose all three of the "big" road games but hold serve at home and against the rest of the B1G. Then win an upper tier bowl game against somebody from the SEC. Final ranking around 10 nationally but positioned for a big jump in 2015.

Thanks for posting this. BTW - do you mean to say Weiss at #2 on the hot seat? You've got both him and Brady at #8.

Dear Mr Magnus:
Which in your opinion is more amazing and hard to comprehend?
1. That the song "What does the Fox Say" has over 425 milliion views on YouTube
2. The existence of life on other planets
3. That the follow sentence is true:
Defensive backs coach Tony Gibson: Gibson is the new defensive coordinator at West Virginia. He was the safeties coach at WVU in 2013.
I'll hang up and listen.

Did anybody else click on the link and relive the Nebraska game that I had mercifully put out of my memory until just now? Reading that post reminded me how much I dislike Borges as an OC and then I scrolled down to the comments and got to enjoy the epic Space Vs Coastal battle royale all over again.

This post has got to be included in the "Brian's greatest hits" vault of mGoBlog treasures. 10 out of 10 on the chills-up-and-down-my-spine-o meter of writing excelence. On the level of "11 Swans" IMO.
|1 week 1 day ago||If it's been answered||
If it's been answered anywhere Ken I surely missed it. I've seen mulitple threads bitching about it but I've never seen anyone answer the question - why isnt it stopped? If everyone hates it (as you state) then I'm amazed more isnt done to put an end to it. And to the casual fan (like me) it simply doesnt make sense why something everyone hates is allowed to continue and is seemingly rewarded.
The nine year old analogy works if you've ever been a parent of a nine year old who has allegedly injured themselves and is challenged. They will "sell it" to mom or dad and dial up the intensity of the crying and wailing directly proportional to how much mom or dad challenge the severity of the hurt. And it ends when they realize they arent getting the desired result (attention or in the case of soccer players - yellow or red cards) and refs, like parents, have the power to stop it.

|1 week 1 day ago||Whining about it constantly?||
Whining about it constantly? Try asking a question on why it's NOT cracked down on given, what seems to me, to be very competent officiating otherwise. My original question was just that - why isnt it stopped if nobody likes it? That's what I, the "every four year soccer fan" doesnt understand.
|1 week 1 day ago||But I DO like soccer. What I||
But I DO like soccer. What I dont like are players acting like they've just suffered a near-fatal shin injury when they get grazed. "Selling it" in other sports doesnt seem (to me anyways) to involve faking a near death experience which is what bothers me the most watching the floppers flop. Fine to go down but stop rolling around like my 9 year old when you got a boo-boo and you want kisses from mom to make it better.
I'm not saying it doesnt happen in all sports - clearly it does. But to this observer's eyes it seems like in soccer they have to massively embelish the severity of their injury so often it's silly.
