Jesus man you related to Corsi or something?
The point I was making was simply the concept that the metrics sports have used for eons are somehow less valid than these new, improved metrics is silly IMO. As stated above - look at ice time if you want to know how good the players coach thinks he is.

That actually did make me laugh out loud - thanks.

No it did not.
Bonus question from me: Am I being trolled here?
|5 hours 8 min ago||Dear MgoBlog: You guys are||
You guys are out of your collective minds. Corsi, like other more modern forms of metric measuring, should be reviewed closely when determining the relative merits of a players worth. In my sport, for example, certain members of the media and other so-called "experts" cling to the antiquated notion that things like hits, batting average, runs batted in and home runs still somehow matter when any progressive thinker knows those are just silly relics of the past.
Don't believe your lying eyes folts. Jack Johnson sucks - just like Miguel Cabrerra did last year when he somehow stole the MVP trophy from me. And I have the stats to prove it.

I have a semi-serious question that is related to the thread topic so here goes. IF we should somehow find a way to lose the Ap State game again would that spell doom for literally everybody on the coaching staff PLUS Brandon? Brandon scheduled the damn thing and should we somehow lose (i know...i know....not terribly possible) would it mean he goes out too? Cause I cant even begin to imagine what this place, much less the wider Michigan football universe, would be like if we were made the laughing stock of the nation a second time.

Why do you want to include them for God's sake? It's been over 14 years and they STILL don't know who let the dogs out.
|7 hours 43 min ago||I'm pretty sure it is but not||
I'm pretty sure it is but not 100% I remember that dude in the yellow hat and the fact that I couldnt quite get the whole scoreboard in the shot to show how close to gametime the picture was taken.
Ironically enough I took the picture and created the thread because I was in the "mad at students" camp at the time. Since then I've done a complete 180 and am now firmly on the "I feel bad for the students" team.

What the heck Bando - that wasnt the point of what I wrote. I was talking about the picture. If i write "where my seats are" then people post "I thought you gave them up". If I post "my former seats" then you guys accuse me of bringing it up again. There have been about 10 threads created on the subject (none of which were created by me) and two front page posts by the creators of this blog (which obviously I had nothing to do with). And I can point to any number of other posters that have been just has vocal about not renewing as I have been so this isnt just an issue about my decision.
Quit trying to make me the poster child for some sort of movement - I'm not. I'm just one person (of many it seems) than made a decision not to buy this year.
|8 hours 42 min ago||The biggest difference||
The biggest difference between the PSL I paid for my Browns tickets and the PSL I paid for my Michigan tickets is simple - frequency of payment. With the Browns I paid once (or rather my late father-in-law) paid once and it's done. End of revenue stream. He paid once and then "owned" the right to buy those tickets as long as he so desired.
With Michigan you have to pay the PSL each and every year. That's silly - buying the right to buy tickets annually is simply baking in an addtional cost to the season ticket holder and prices the seats far higher than one can get for most games on the secondary market
|9 hours 34 min ago||If that picture of the||
If that picture of the student section wasn't the one I posted here it was taken by somebody standing within 10 feet of my former seats. That is EXACTLY where I used to sit. Also, given my formally long game day commute I especially appreciate the "moving the stadium" idea somewhat closer to Cleveland.

During OT especially it seems like there are midly stupid posts, really stupid posts and monumentally stupid posts.
And then there are threads like this.
|20 hours 30 min ago||That's AWESOME. One regret I||
That's AWESOME. One regret I have for my time in AA was that i only went to one hockey game when I was a student. I was all basketball and hockey never seemed to get on my radar.
When people ask me why I want the students to pack the Big House I think I'll show this video.
|20 hours 39 min ago||Are you freaking serious?||
Are you freaking serious? The Yankees - who have won about 50% of all the World Series played since time began - have a player with what looks to be dog shit on his neck and you think they are targeted? He couldn't have made it more obvious if he had a sign around his neck with an arrow on it pointing at the stuff.

I predict they will stop sucking as soon as they aren't so young anymore and develop some badly needed chemistry.

Well the good news is now I know who JMFJ is. I missed him getting that moniker.

Interestingly enough down here in Ohio the news of Lindsay's committment has caused barely a ripple of excitement. It was mentioned, briefly, on Cleveland.com "Urban lands Alabama Graduate Center" and didnt even warrant mentioning on ESPNCleveland.com.
Rich getting richer and all that I suppose.

I think you missed my point. I did not say who I'd rather "win more games" I asked who you thought would win more games. Clearly I want Hoke to win this contest and win big but when I look at the two respective programs it's hard for me to feel optimism for our future and it's hard not to think they are on an upward trajectory.
A big part of this, for me, anyways, comes from the frustration of Rich being given a budget to hire assistants less than 1/2 of what Hoke has been given and my wondering "what if" Rich had been given the same hand to play. I know RR can coach up an offense and now I know he has zero clue on what to do defensively. So if he had a d coordinator that didnt have as his qualification "willing to coach defense for food" sign up I wonder where we'd be right now. And it pisses me off to no end to think we're back in the same basic hole we dug for ourselves with Rich by not giving him an assistant budget worth a shit now with Hoke. It makes me mad (sorry) cause i think we wouldve fared much, much better from 2008-2010 with a competent Dcoordinator and certainly now if that regime hadnt been taken out so we could get a "Michigan man" in place.
|1 day 19 hours ago||If you had to choose between||
If you had to choose between Brady Hoke at Michigan or Rich Rodriguez at Arizona and there was a prize where you got to collect $100 for each game they won at their respective schools starting in 2014 season and continuing until they either got fired, quit or retired from that school but you could only choose Hoke at Michigan or Rich at Arizona who would you "bet" on?
I'd take Rich in a heartbeat.
|1 day 20 hours ago||It's really not as difficult||
It's really not as difficult as you might think. Sort of like when I quit smoking in 2008 after some 25 years or so of the habit. The emotional drain the team took on me over the past 6 years or so (and ESPECIALLY last year's PSU game) killed a part of me that was very passionate about Michigan football for a very, very long time.
It doesnt matter nearly as much to me as it once did. Which is why giving up my tickets this year wasnt hard at all.

She thinks I've lost my mind I'm sure.

You are definitely in my personal "top five" favorite posters PurpleStuff. You and think quite a bit alike but you put things so much nicer and more eloquently than i generally do.
|2 days 3 hours ago||I know. I just play "what||
I know. I just play "what if" in my mind and imagine our program in year six of Rich's offense with a competent defense and what that would mean. I watched Arizona this year and it made me sad for what could've been.
I'm tired of being the nail. I want to go back to being the hammer again like we were from 1969 to 2006. These last 8 years for the most part (with the exception of 2011) have SUCKED.

Disruptive because he's sort of good and doesnt get knocked backwards when he comes off the line you mean? I could see where that type of thing would make the other fellows feel awful what with him moving forward and making everyone look bad.
|2 days 3 hours ago||The ripple effects of Bill||
The ripple effects of Bill Martin's refusal to give Rich a lousy 100K to bring Casteel over just keep spreading wider and wider across the pond now don't they. Simply amazing to me, in retrospect, how negatively impactful that one decision has been across the program since it was made 6 years ago. I really wonder what the team would've looked like back then (and now) with a half-way competent defense to support Rich's offense and moments like these really make me sad it didnt happen.
We'll never know.

Lately I have been having the same sick feeling I had when I watched Wisconsin run the ball on 37 of their last 38 plays in 2010 (and the last 32 in a row BTW). I remember thinking this is what it must be like like to literally watch the wheels come off the wagon. I remember thinking Rich was doomed and we had nowhere to go but downhill fast.
It's starting to feel like that again to me.

That was a nice piece but I have to ask you about one point you made.
"Right now Hoke is projecting to look more like Kirk Ferentz -- and while that's far better than where Rodriguez seemed to be going in his third year, it's not exactly Heaven for Michigan fans."
Rich was on an upward arc - Brady's heading down.
