"Semen related costs run into the thousands every year"
I would argue that estimate seems kinda low.

One thing's for sure.......
They arent big bettors in Las Vegas.
|1 day 10 hours ago||Exactly||
Which is why, based on my giving history, I have been awarded the mGrowOld, LS & A class of 1981 memorial South Quad, third floor mens bathroom stall #5 toilet paper dispenser in my honor.

I love reading he comments in these threads because with no facts, no knowledge of the participants or knowing if there is witness bias or not everybody is ready, willing and able to form, share and DEFEND opinions.

I live in Ohio so "I went to Michigan" works pretty good.

Mods: Can we have an "All-Fashion" open thread sort of like the snowflake threads after a game?

First one is Ok.
Second one not so much.
|2 days 6 hours ago||Whatever the reason, that MSU game has got to be fixed.||
Sadly - no it doesnt. Because we're the only team screwed over in the deal and when it comes to standing up to the B1G our leaders seem to only know how to say "thank you Sir, may I have another".
Unless we were willing to really create a shitstorm and do something out of character this problem is NOT going to get fixed because we're the only ones who think it's a a problem. 11 other schools think it's just dandy that Michigan sat quietly and took it in the hindquarters so don't expect any help from them.
The only real lever we have to pull IMO is the threat of doing a separate deal a-la the Longhorn network and there's no way we'd ever do that. The schedule isnt changing.

If not for this one game we would've been #1.

I find these to be higly effective ways of telling me "football is coming".

Best response ever to a late, duplicate post admonishment.
Should leave this thread up just for that. Well done OP....well done!

You've been here almost 8 years and yet you think news from our biggest rival (sorry Rutgers it's true) about a player we were head to head with on recruiting wouldnt be posted here three days after it breaks? Seriously?
|3 days 7 hours ago||Granted this is NOT a Michigan hype video||
But it's the best one I've ever seen. Cavs fans will appreciate it more than anyone else but check it out (and bonus points if you can name the movie and the actor doing the narration at the beginning)

Shockingly no. But I do find the stories of idiots walking off cliffs and leaving their cars in drive while leaping out to catch them more than a bit amusing.

An issue where I can "see" both sides. On one side you have the heartbreak and frustration of a person pulled over 50+ times and then seemingly executed in cold blood by the very people who are hired to protect him.

ALSO BREAKING: the only thing that matters less than recruiting rankings are politician and celebrity #hastags "stay strong" and "thoughts and prayers" when lunatics kill a bunch of innocent people.

But what if it were Magic Johnson instead of Jordan? One could argue he is the #2 player on the Mt Rushmore of basketball greatness behind only Jordan. What if he "joined forces" with us on a new clothing line - would that be ok?
Would the board be as excited having an MSU grad be a honorary captain at an upcoming game?
Like I said - I get I'm one of only a handful of people who actually REMEMBER watching NC knock us out of the tournament year after fucking year (and yes evil empire I remember 1989 and finally getting the monkey off our back too) so I get why 99% of the board just sees Michael as a great pro from the past and not a representative of a school that beat us in basketball when it counted.
But I do and that's why I dont particularly like it. I'm Michigan first - fashion second.
|1 week 1 day ago||I'm with you||
Michael Jordan played basketball at North Carolina. The same North Carolina who defeated Michigan in the NCAA tournament in 1987, 1988 and in the Championship game in 1993.
I know it's terribly exciting to have a Jumpman logo on our pants and all but damn it I wonder if everyone would this euphoric if somebody on the 2013 Louisville Cardinals basketball time started a clothing line. I wonder if you'd want one of the their players to be an honorary captain to a football game to celebrate our new fashion excitement.
The problem is, IMO, most of you guys have zero memory of us losing to those fuckers again and again so having their best player represent us means nothing to you. For us old-timers it's a bit of a kick in the nuts to be honest.
I wonder how these guys feel about it?

I can honestly say I've seldom been as excited to get a commit as I was when the news broke that the 5 STAR tailback Derrick Green was coming to Michigan.
I can also honestly say I've seldom been as shocked and dissapointed in a players conditioning (or lack thereof) as I was when pictures of Green as a freshman started to surface.
It was the best of times
It was the worst of times
Good luck Derrick. May you follow in Thomas Rawls footsteps in your career

Michigan vs. Maryland: Michigan
|1 week 2 days ago||nailed it||
It's a great question because he was clearly one of the best if not THE best point guard Michigan has ever produced. Grant played lights out defense too which is often overlooked in the stats the OP posted (other than steals). I think the lack of tournament success played a huge role in keeping his Michigan legacy from gettng its due IMO.
We've played that "name your all time Michigan starting five" game several times. He is ALWAYS my first team PG and it's too bad most of the board is too young to have ever seen him play. He was amazing.
|1 week 2 days ago||Not that these wouldnt be somewhat interesting but.....||
What problem exactly are we solving?
The NBA is at it's height of popularity and is growing exponentially hence the big jump in TV monies which caused all the contract angst this year. And seven different teams (including Cleveland for God's sake) have won the title in the past 10 years.
The college game is equally thriving with TV ratings and attendance both climbing. I doesnt appear to me that college basketball is in trouble in the least.
You forgot to mention no more floor cams for ESPN. That's one rule change I could get behind.
|1 week 2 days ago||Oh what the hell.....||
So my ex and I were in the final stages of a divorce when I was admitted to the hospital with undetermined stomach pain. We were separated and had been for about a year. After 5 days in the ICU and multiple inconclusive tests I was cut open and they found the cancer.
While in recovery my ex made a big production of giving me a new wedding ring and announcing to me and our kids that she was now recommitted to our marrage and would "love me back to health". About four days later I was discharged from the hospital under fairly heavy sedation and pain killers and had 16 staples running from just above my crotch to half way up my sternum to keep my guts from falling out. I was ordered to do nothing but sleep and was given heavy pain meds. My ex went to my apartment, got all my stuff and moved me back into our family home.
Day two of my recovery I was laying on the couch. I was barely awake and again under heavy pain meds. It was a Friday. I remember this because somehow I was able to pick a fight with my ex (according to her) and she stormed out of the house. To this day I have no idea how or what we were fighting about and again, being under heavy pain meds I think I just blinked a few times and went back to sleep.
The entire weekend passes and no call or text from the ex. Frankly I dont really care much but it was kinda odd. Monday morning she arrives back home at about 11:00am, wakes me up and informs me she's bought a house in Columbus (we lived just south of Cleveland), was restarting the divorce proceedings and was moving there in a week. Oh....and I could have custody of our kids and could stay in our house if I wanted.
Two months later she married the dude she was having the affair with. And a few months after the divorce was final I met Jill.
And less than a year later she got divorced from the guy in Columbus.
