Candidly I was really hoping more for something along the lines of "The SEC is composed of cheating bastards who I've now exposed as also being gutless pussy cowards who are clearly afraid of me. Suck on that on Nicky."
But subtle is also good.

Schools down south will cheat like a bandit for a back-up long snapper. I cannot even imagine what the highest bid would've been for the #1 recruit in the country.
That's some serious will-power right there.

You mean like Discuss Man? I really liked that guy - always starting threads with interesting topics and encouraging us to talk about them and then BAM, one day he's gone. Not sure why he left us but ironically he was also being accused of being a WD dobbleganger.
You keep fighting the good fight Benn. Don't let these negative nancy's run you off like they did poor old Discuss Man.
|18 hours 5 min ago||Is this true?||
I know you outed the Discuss Man persona but why do you think Benn is also WD? Other than the insane amount of points he's accumulated in about a month.

They actually DID levy some pretty stiff punishments initially to PSU. But then Penn State issued a statement saying they were real sorry for shielding a child rapist for over 10 years and that the next time one of their coaches starts raping children well by golly next time they will do something about it. Eventually. When the time is right.
So faced with that the NCAA had no choice but to take back the punishment that was....you know....punishing and replace it with the slap on the wrist version you see today.
What else could they do?
|18 hours 29 min ago||Wrong||
This time things will be different. This time the NCAA has all the evidence it needs to truly lay down the law and inflict a punishment so severe and so damaging to the program that schools will truly fear the rath of the NCAA. The enforcement wing of the NCAA is ready for action and is not pussyfooting around one day longer.
Morgan State is going to get absolutely pulverized.

All of which are extremely NSFW so I'll just not post one.
But trust me....she grew up nice.

Had one lined up back in the mid 80's and didn't pull the trigger. Have wished I had that decision back a million times. Sigh.....

Brian/Seth should add you to the staff. You generate more real content & analysis that 99.8% of the board and as good or better than much of what lands on the front page IMO.
Me - when the time comes where they need a writer to provide snark, Cleveland sports news, sarcasm and the occasional funny GIF or two I'm the guy.

Based on the voting I think it's safe to say that EVERYBODY else was hoping for the same as you.

I have no first or even second hand knowledge of either the victim or LTT. I have read nothing on the case itself nor have I even bothered to listen or learn anything remotely connected to this situation, the principles, the police investigation or the law being violated. In short I could not possibly be less qualified to offer anything resembling an informed opinion on this matter.
Based on that it's beyond clear to me that he/she is innocent/guilty and the victim/LTT are clearly lying/telling the truth.

FWIW I was in the "Orr must go" camp in 1981. Frieder did 99% o fthe coaching AND recruiting by that time it was pretty damn clear he'd lost his fastball so to speak. Frieder went on to have some great teams (albiet not that hot in the NCAA's) so just cause it's a tradition doesnt make it wrong.

Line opened Carolina -3 and then quickly moved to Carolina -5. Crested at Carolina -7 on Friday then dollars started flowing Denver's way and as of this minute it's back down to Carolina -5 again and dropping. And 57% of all monies wagered have been placed in the past 24 hours!
I'm playing Carolina -6. Should've waited - hope it doesnt matter....

Carolina 38-7. Manning cements legacy as greatest regular season QB ever.

And I was thinking to myself "those lucky bastards back home now get to drive 85 MPH and their STILL bitching about it. Those lucky, lucky bastards."
Then I find out it's just some random concern-troll being "officially" concerned over jack-squat. What a let down.

My mGoBlog Brian photo bomb shirt I got for buying HAIL a couple of years ago. It's like 0-3 so it's not ever being worn again for a game.

I will admidt it. I was (and maybe still am a little bit) a HUGE Johnny Football fan. I was beyond excited when the Browns drafted him and I was there last October when he got his first start against the Bengals. I can tell you walking into the stadium that day there was an energy and excitement that we Browns fans seldom (if ever) get to feel. And then he laid a giant turd and that basically ended that last year.
This year seemed different though - at least at the start. He came in for a concussed McCown in game one and on the second series unleashed a beutiful 60 yard bomb for a TD. We lost the game but damn he was fun to watch. Then game two against Tennessee he led us to victory with again, two long bombs, the last one being totally JF with him running around and throwing the ball sidearmed against his body for an imossible TD. For a day at least it was fun to be a Browns fan.
Everyone knows how this has ended. And I'm sad for Johnny but I'm also sad for me and all the other Browns fans who hoped beyond hope we had finally found our QB. Now it's ending beyond badly, we've got a new coach (again) and we're going to have to find a new QB (again).
And I will miss watching him play. He made a shitty team interesting to watch at least.

I totally agree. Posting in a thread like this means my VERY IMPORTANT THOUGHTS ON THINGS might get lost in the tidal wave of crap you losers post. Only by creating my own thread can I be asured that everyone will see and hear my VERY IMPORTANT THOUGHTS ON THINGS and give it the attention it deserves.
|1 week 1 day ago||Great questions||
That's exactly what we were - "Sub-scouts" . My sister's next door neighboor in AA was Bob Chemiel who was the recruiting coordinator under Mo. And a very good friend of mine here in Cleveland was George Lilja who was an All American center when I was in school and retired from the NFL as a Brown. Couple those two and I got brought into the mix.
No, we could not talk to coaches or players (directly) without violating NCAA rules. But trust me, as soon as word spread there was a scout for Michigan at the game we had no problem at all meeting the frends and family of the player. And we would ask questions and they would ask me questions and so we'd communicate with the player through that Chinese veil of the third party. And yes, we worked the nearby area so for me it ran from Canton to the south to Solon to the north (I didnt recruit Cleveland but did have the Massilon/Barberton, Canton McKinley area).
Yes, winning was ASSUMED in the early 90's. That never even came up as a question.
And someday I'll write a diary about the time Marty Bodnar and me almost got us in trouble with the NCAA by offering to give Scott Loeffler a ride to a game. That was pretty funny but definitely a TL/DR for most.
|1 week 1 day ago||What mattered from 1992-1994||
What mattered from 1992-1994 was the following:
1. How soon will I play?
2. How many players at my position have you put into the NFL recently?
3. What's my position coach REALLY like?
4. Are the girls in AA as bad as everybody says? (don't shoot the messenger here guys - unfortunately we DO have a reputation and negative recruiting exists)
5. Academics in general in my major. What's that like?
We got a spreadsheet and were asked to attend certain games and report in weekly on what we saw, who we spoke to and what their friends and family were like (this was VERY important to Michigan FWIW). Most of what we did was through their family and friends as actual contact was limited by the NCAA but those were the questions relayed the most often to us that we'd try and get answers to them.
|1 week 1 day ago||You kids having fun yet?||
Recruiting is insane and I know first hand - I actually did it for three years for Michigan. Trying to predict the thinking/decisions of a 17 year old is more insane. Getting emotionally invested in said decisions of said 17 year old's is the height of insanity IMO unless you're a coach or the kid's parent.
This is the one time a year I just sit quietly on the sidelines and watch without much (if any) comment.
