You forgot that the Lions…

You forgot that the Lions also took Pettigrew with the first rounder they got for Roy Williams (20th pick overall).  With that said, I'm so glad the Lions finally hit on LaPorta. I wasn't happy about it the day of, but man was I wrong.

As for the Chargers, I imagine a trade down will definitely happen as they need to reconfigure I'm sure.  I would imagine that him and his staff have the Big Ten, Alabama, Washington, Georgia, and Texas scouted pretty well.  Assuming they trade back with the Vikings, I could see OL with the first pick, Mike S with the second pick.  Wouldn't shock me to see him draft some Michigan guys in the late rounds, as he knows their work ethic, strengths/weaknesses, and they'd have familiarity with the offense and defense he's going to try to run.  Wouldn't shock me to see them wind up with Harrell, Blake, Zinter, and Mike in Harbaugh's first draft class.

Edit: Forgot about Roman.

It's kind of like when you…

It's kind of like when you go to a restaurant and they have the word "Gourmet" on the sign or a hotel that says "Luxury".  Chances are the restaurant isn't Gourmet and the hotel isn't luxurious.

Maybe Michael Barrett? Maybe…

Maybe Michael Barrett? Maybe not a with a memorably bad first game, but iirc lots of people around here were thinking of him as JAG when he first cracked the rotation.

Mullings looks to be on that trajectory—after fumbling at the goal line in the fiesta bowl, looks to be the heir apparent at RB.

Spot on take here.  Glenn's…

Spot on take here.  Glenn's hand is kind of forced due to the roster constraints.  They run a fairly high risk/high reward kind of defense to overcome their shortcomings. Even then, they still looked right there for most of the season and the metrics showed they were at least an average defense (getting home on third down was their biggest issue IMO).  With a few more players, they could become a very good defense.

It should be a very compelling offseason.  There are some high level FAs at edge and CB this year.  It would be great to shore up one of those positions (CB1, Edge opposite Hutch) through free agency and then focus on defense (and OL depth/replacements) in the draft. If Glenn has some more impact players, it could end up being a very good unit.

And while I'm discussing offseason, I am also very interested to see what happens with Goff, Saint, Jackson, and potentially Sewell this offseason.

One last thing, can we just…

One last thing, can we just stop with the lazy analogy of GFs or wives banging other dudes.  Harbaugh looking at, quite frankly, more prestigious jobs in the NFL when the NCAA is unfairly trying to destroy his reputation isn't like your wife looking for a better husband while you are married.

If you want to make an analogy, its like us looking for a job when we work for the family business. Harbaugh is part of the Michigan Football family and he is currently CEO of the family business.  Would it hurt for him to leave--for sure.  But after the last nine years, especially the last three, we should want him to live his best life, even if it means moving on from us.

With all that, I haven't given up hope yet.  I think there is a decent chance he still stays, but no man knows the future.

It has not sucked any of the…

It has not sucked any of the joy out of the last three years for me.  These have been the best three years of Michigan football that I have enjoyed in the 30 or so years I've been following.  If you want to let the anxiety of not knowing what the future holds suck the joy out of what just happened, that's on you and how you choose to live life.

Jim Harbaugh promised us a return to excellence and championships.  He delivered in spades.  He set up a program infrastructure that includes Coach Moore and Coach Herbert, and probably a few more key pieces.  He has developed a roster full of pre-season all-Americans going into next season.

If he ends up leaving, he will have done everything he set out to do.  Sorry it didn't include considering your feelings.

1000% agree.  I've been…

1000% agree.  I've been super excited to watch the Pistons the last few seasons, but have not watched a single game on TV (been to quite a few live though).  I wouldn't pay $20 a month to watch the Pistons though, and I sure as hell wouldn't give it to BSN.

They really need to die the "free market" death.

no but the dominos might…

no but the dominos might lead to Moore or Minter being poached.  For example, Lanning to Bama, Minter or Moore to Oregon.

I could see him getting a…

I could see him getting a MAC or Conference USA type job and killing it.  EMU would be cool if Crieghton ever moves on.

Overall though, i think he will be an amazing college coach when its all said and done.  He's only 34--which is kind of the start of when elite coaches get hired.  My guess is he gets his first shot after next season if Harbaugh stays and maybe even this season if Harbaugh leaves and the coaching carousel gets crazy.

Saintristil and Graham were…

Saintristil and Graham were AA players IMO

The better analogy is 125K…

The better analogy is 125K from SmartTech and an internship that will likely lead to some amount of performance bonuses from our investors at BizTech.  Not as easy.

Team 144 is probably already…

Team 144 is probably already better than the 1997 team. A win over Alabama would all but seal it. That is my hot take of the day.

There was a lot of chatter…

There was a lot of chatter for a few weeks on the 247 Buckeye message board (I think it was formerly Bucknuts and now is called "the Front Row" or something).  They said that something was coming down against Michigan and it was going to be be big and bad for them (us).  There was a lot of talk from one of the posters about knowing a guy who was somehow connected to the Days and he had heard that they were investigating Michigan and it was going to be real bad, something that would destroy the program.  That was a week or two before the news broke (and well before the Big Ten allegedly knew about it).

Spot on. There is always…

Spot on. There is always multiple reasons a team loses, none of which matter after the fact.  2016, maybe JT was short, maybe there was a hold on the previous play, maybe there was pass interference on Darbo... But also OT never happens if Spieght doesn't throw some backbreaking interceptions among other things that we could have done to win.  Doesn't matter, because we lost and we had to overcome the scars to finally get over the hump.

I do think it is glorious that we win the last version of "the game" that matters to get win number 1001 (MI).  Sure one team may need a win against the other to make the big ten championship game or to improve playoff seeding, but nothing again will be this.  Hell the next time they are undefeated, I would almost run a super vanilla version of the offense in the regular season matchup to have a better chance of winning the next week.  It will be the exact opposite of this game, the one no one wants to win.

So in a sense, OSU can focus on being a championship quality team instead of a team that can beat michigan and also win a national championship.  That should be freeing for them, but most do not have the requisite capacity to think this way.

That would be my vote as…

That would be my vote as well.  Tell Petitti to hand it to Moore, he's earned it!

Weird that two OSU…

Weird that two OSU affiliates that take videos buy groceries every time Michigan played but not on the bye week. Also weird they used TUNst the week before MSU.

It’s pretty clear that OSU is just a dirty or even dirtier than Michigan when it comes to sign stealing. We should be doing the exact same faux outrage that they did to our program, otherwise you are a KFATA of OSU.

Maybe the NCAA is so mad at…

Maybe the NCAA is so mad at Michigan and Jim Harbaugh they're going to punish Ferris State's coach instead.

Yeah, Stroud's success makes…

Yeah, Stroud's success makes me more confident in the Game this year, as he is legit an elite QB.  Without him dropping dimes all over the field, they are going to have to work even harder to score their 25 points.

I do think OSU's defense is better this year, but they looked real good coming into the Game last season as well.  I am also thinking that there is a whole section of the playbook that is only being repped in practice.

Looking forward to the…

Looking forward to the Harbaugh Grinch smile over the next three weekends!

As a fellow attorney, I…

As a fellow attorney, I couldn't agree more.  That was beautifully written and I am both grateful for and envious of the person who wrote this.  The smile on my face just kept getting wider as I read more of the letter.  Perfection

Agreed!  Obviously he…

Agreed!  Obviously he probably had an attorney draft this, but this letter so perfectly states what we've all been thinking/hoping for the past three weeks.  After reading that, I do not know how there could be anything that comes from the BIG.

But totally agree, Warde deserves a kudos here. Also, OSU and Ryan Day have helped galvanize the Michigan factions into a united front. They should also get a minor tip of the hat.

Joking aside, hopefully this has helped heal any issues between Warde and Harbaugh.  Who would have thunk that an action meant to chase Harbaugh out of AA would only strengthen Michigan moving forward.

2 pick sixes where the DB…

2 pick sixes where the DB jumped a play, almost like he knew what was coming.

Also the first documented…

Also the first documented evidence of wrong doing outside of Stallions at CMU.  I mean if there are videos of people sitting in seats recording games, don't we think it would have leaked by now? Same with the proof of Stallions buying tickets?

Also absent from the Stallions "dossier," which sideline was he buying when he sent people to other games.  I have a hard time believing they were scouting Rutgers and Northwestern signs, but it's pretty clear that Illinois, Indiana, and Rutgers have all had our signs in the past.

I think it is broken and…

I think it is broken and slowly starting to leak out. Three weeks until OSU.  My guess is that some big stuff drops later this week.

Those are level I and level…

Those are level I and level II violations.  Michigan is accused of a level III violation.  If level I and level II violations committed under the direction of the head coach amount to nothing, then Level III committed without knowledge of the head coach is less than nothing. It might not matter to mouthbreather OSU fans, but it will matter to any judge looking to rein in the conference as it's commissioner looks to selectively enforce certain rules while turning a blind eye to others.

Based on OP, it seems like…

Based on OP, it seems like from the 23 class, meaning they are Freshmen and probably won't play much if at all.  If you look at when Day asked for 13M from his boosters for "NIL", it was around early June 2022.  You can go look at 247 at their 5 and 4.5* commits from out of state to get an idea of who it could be.  Michigan doesn't care of those players play or not this year.

But the bigger story would be the selective outrage and selective enforcement.  If Connor Stallions did all of this for 15K and it was a level III violation, why would teams pay tens of thousands just to get kids to show up to recruiting visits knowing that is a level I violation.  I mean if the level III violation is such an advantage and illegally enticing recruits is not an advantage (as claimed by the OSU-friendly media), why commit worse violation for less advantage?

He wouldn’t have to. Game is in Maryland and they play the Thursday before

I cancelled the Athletic…

I cancelled the Athletic last month when the story first started breaking and they were at the epicenter.  I like their coverage of other stuff, but I had prepaid for a year.  I provided my reasons for cancelling, as I am sure many other KFATAs did.

Maybe he said worst scandal…

Maybe he said worst scandal in his history as Big Ten commissioner and the Big Ten admin misheard him

I would say that the TRO…

I would say that the TRO would come before a response to the BIG.  Giving Michigan two days to respond is not enough time for them to review the evidence and respond to the allegations. They would point to every other type of proceeding that gives the accused weeks or months to respond.  This is an impossible ask of Michigan and only meant to satisfy the bylaws on paper only.

Jain said…

Per the article:

Jain said the system produced a similarity score of 0.6 when comparing the two photographs. To validate that score, Jain and Grosz compared Stalions' photo to a database of more than 4,500 photos of white males.

"The reason why it's 0.6 is because there's a disguise," Jain told ESPN. "If I take an identical photo, it would be one. Even changes in the pose, illumination, expression, sunglasses, the match will never be perfect. Based on this analysis, the two images are of the same person with high confidence."

0.6 is not any kind of high confidence.  Not saying it wasn't him, but this is just laughable.

My reading of “not appealable” means not appealable in the Big Ten. They can sue in court, especially for a temporary injunction.

Unless they know they are in the right but are waiting for the NCAA to come out and say that there was nothing wrong with what they are doing, that they will be allowing in-helmet communication devices moving forward (or starting next season), and that they will be making updates to the in-person scouting rule.

I'm thinking of going to.  I'll be heading into DC that day for a concert, so hopefully it's the noon game.

Besides tears of haters, which may sound like whispers, what would those whispers be if Michigan went 15-0?

"They would have never beaten Rutgers without cracking their codes"..."How was Michigan stealing signs at PSU when Stallions was suspended? Did Franklin forget to change the signs from last season or something?"...or "Ryan Day's pool boy told me that the whole Harbaugh family, I mean Jack, John, all of them, are sharing the same Netflix password?"

As much as I would hate it,…

As much as I would hate it, I would probably cheer for OSU. Your buddies are giving you the seats, plus you can wear the Michigan gear and not get into sucker-punched by a mouth-breather.  Also, it's nice to beat an undefeated OSU ranked #2 in the country. No one forgets that.

Michigan already kind of has…

Michigan already kind of has something like this in place, except recruits get paid once they hit campus instead of in some sort of up front arrangement.  Will Johnson's NIL was fully activated the day he hit campus, JJ was fully activated during his freshman year if not earlier. I'm sure their parents have shared this info with the Underwoods and the Davis family before him.  Sometimes you got to trust. Unfortunately most SEC and big ACC programs are run by sleazy dudes, so they pay up front.

Tin foil hat theory: The board of trustees were sitting on the info. They knew if they were timed it when they were 2-0, it would look like Tucker is being fired for cause and not because he’s a “horse-shit football coach”. If they waited until October, they’d likely have a couple of losses and Tucker would have a stronger argument to get paid out.
