Sorry, had to neg, only b/c of this
From everything we've read, this was not his terminology. This was medical jargon that he was told and is being repeated verbatim. Why are people so hung up on this?
But I'm in agreement with most other things you've mentioned. He's been treeting Mich football as a product line from a company and not an actual athletic team. I do have to wonder though, why have we mostly seen negatives impacts with the football team and not basketball? (minus the STUPID bball student ticket package policy)

I had the same thought but when I added it all up, they would lose like $5 million. And that's no chump change

Batman is in EL today, filming the new Batman vs Superman movie (ugh, sigh, out of ideas). They are at the new(ish) museum on Grand River and it's all blocked off for filming tonight. If and when I see him on the streets, I'll ask him to go to AA for the team.

I think they need to redefine clutch.
"Jazz were surprisingly good in clutch game situations games in 2013-14, going 9-7 in games decided by five points or less."
So you're saying when the score was nearly tied towards the end of a game, they won about 50% of the time (56% exactly). Law of averages, man, low of averages. This is nothing special.
Also, could they use the word "game" any more?

Little off topic but I'd rather not start a new thread. Just checked and the game will be on ESPN2 (which I don't get). Instead of showing it on ABC, they are showing NASCAR. Yes, that's right, we are so irrelevant and unwatchable that they are putting NASCAR over us. Sigh. /weeps in corner

And how good are you at not reading? Not once did I say this was realistic. In fact it's tagged as "unrealistic". I also used the phrase 'as unlikely as it may be'.

Never trust a scatterplot without a R-squared value! And would it hurt to label the axis.

Oh dear Lord. The confederate paper currency had slaves working in the fields on them? That is absurdly in poor taste, I would think, even for that time.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||reasonable explanations||
I can understand not wearing a headset. You could argue that "the headset constrains my hearing on the field, and I'd like to be able to hear what's going on around me and on the field in more clarity". OR "I like to move up and down the sidelines and with a headset I just can't do that".
But that makes me wonder, what exactly does Brady Hoke do? Presumably he doesn't call the offensive plays, Nuss does. Presumambly Mattison calls most of the defensive playcalls. So what exactly does Hoke do? I thought he was more of an 'interact with the players' type of coach and decision-making (when to go for it on 4th down, when to call a timeout). But from everything we've seen that aspect of the game calling has FAILED miserably. So many wrong choices. And if he's not calling plays, then he how in the heck did he not see the Shane hit? Sure he could miss it live. But it's not like he's calling in the next play, he MUST HAVE SEEN the replay on the jumbotron. Everyone in the stands did.

At least from 2002-2003, ticket prices are relatively the same. I remember tickets being ~$20 per ticket and when I adjusted for inflation it ended up being about the same price students pay today.

Reason #3483 to fire Brandon. He sent out a HC to a national press coverage unprepared and lacking information that you had. This is bad PR. And this lays solely on DB's head for how it was handled. He's a PR machine that left a coach to hang out and dry. Why would another coach ever want to come work for him after this? Reason enough he needs to go

Quick suggestion, any way we can get the music down to a level 8 instead of its current 11 status. The volume level to hear both of you makes it so the music is blaring and often hurtful. Otherwise, love the podcasts!
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Over-reacting||
While I'm in the camp of Hoke must go (solely based for on-field performance). I think everyone is over-reacting to this statement:
I believe coach Hoke didn't see the play initially. I believe he didn't purposely leave a concussed player in the game. It's of my opinion that he clearly doesn't pay attention. This, combined with playclock issues, hurry-up, formations, etc. He's just clueless.
The comment that he thought it was a targeting hit can be summed up as a post-hoc reaction to watching the film. I think we need to step back off the podium for at least this comment. As for the others, well, Hoke certainly is digging his own grave and certainly seems to be trying to push blame on others.
Speaking of which, what would we have done if Hoke remained firm today on this stance, "We don't talk about injuries b/c I don't want to" meme. That died today (for good reason). I just can't fathom if he would have been able to leave the press conference with his head still attached to his body if he had tried to use that line today, of all days.

Wow. Some people wanted RR gone and voiced it. But never, and I mean NEVER, was the angst as to the point that we are now at with Brady Hoke. This is blowing my mind. But then again it really shouldn't. The media shenannigans was one thing, but to actually see it first-hand that he has absolutely no idea what's going on is beyond ridiculous.

What about those rumors about Gardner having nerve-type damage in his foot that is preventing him from doing a full progression in footwork after a pass. If, and that's a big if, that's the case, then an uninjured Shane would be the best route. But is this true? Who knows. And with the Fort in full lockdown, would we even hear about it till after the season?

Despite having "good intention", I'm not cool with a request for someone to be fired. If anything, you can say what you don't like and what you'd prefer... But to ask a guy to get the axe is too far (even if it ultimately is best)

Elaydin, so this is interesting. You were right about the login... in a way. But there also was a glitch with the app saying you were 'logged in' when one actually was not. I think I found your email at this website http://elaydin.wordpress.com/tag/mgoblog/ Will send you an explanation there.

Thanks for you smartass, remark. Gee, I hadn't thought of ... of course I did! I refreshed. I exited and re-entered. I tested it plenty of times. It's broke. I wouldn't have posted if I wasn't sure there was a problem.

|4 weeks 5 days ago||I've been flip-flopping about booing||
I was firmly under the impression it's OK to boo when the coaches do something like "not go for it on 4th down". That's clearly directed at the coaches. Booing after an interception is directed at the players. Not cool. There's a definite time and place for it, but one needs to be careful.
However, now that I've said that. I think I'm slowly flip-flopping about whether it's OK to boo. I've never been a fan of "booing". But after a lot thought can we just blame Dave Brandon? If I'm paying $100 for a ticket, that's PRO money. You present the team as professional when you require me to take a loan to buy season tickets. If you want us not to boo, then provide amateur-priced tickets. Until then, I think you can bet you're going to get some people who feel compelled to voice whatever opinion they want.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Why did we let that happen...||
...probably b/c we're not assholes.
What's the harm. It should be a family atmosphere. Letting a mascot in the stands is about creating a fun environment spirited event. Perhaps we should just ban all opposing fans. How dare they.
