They project the "thug" image on purpose

I'd been to ND and PSU away before, and this was my first time in CBUS.  I was shocked how nice most of the OSU fans were.  I was expecting the worst, but really almost everyone I encountered was civil.  I'd have to rate all three away experiences pretty much the same.  A couple "fuck michigan" taunts from each school, but all in all, people were very friendly and helpful.  I was even given directions for a shortcut to the stadium (I was very suspicious), but it all worked out really well.  Afterwards, it was all "good game", "I thought you had us there", etc.

I think the bucks try to project a thug image just to scare away visiting fans.  Based on my experience, SUBSTANTIALLY fewer M fans make the trip south than Ohio fans make the trip north.  I think they like keeping their home field locked down by projecting the image that your tires will be slashed / etc, but it just isn't true.

Tailgating in Columbus?

Has anyone been to Columbus before for The Game?  This is my first time attending it away and I'm not sure where the best place to park is, etc.  I've heard that no alcohol is allowed on any university lots.... where do visiting fans usually go?

BEAT OHIO - SPOIL THEIR AP

Ohio now has a serious shot at a split (AP) national championship.  We are the only thing that stands in their way.

If Stanford wins they play

If Stanford wins they play UCLA two weeks in a row.

AP national championship game

Essentially, we're playing in the AP national championship game.  Althought not for a shot at at, but if if we lose and what everyone expects will happen happens (alabama destroys nd), then ohio will win the AP.

This is a huge game.  We have a season to ruin.  Beat Ohio

BCS Baby!

So, our 2 of our 3 losses came against #1 and #2.  I'd say we have an excellent shot of making the top 14 and an at-large bid if we can beat a certain unbeaten team next week.

Actually We're #1

One of the BCS computers has us at #1.  It's the one that has no bias towards the previous season, or conference affiliation, etc.

Michigan is #2

One of the BCS formulas has us at #2!!!

Time to buy BCS national championship tickets.

doubt it

i think DB has actually been 100% honest, despite most of you not wanting to believe that.

When he said "he thought the players deserved to have a coach in the bowl", most of you thought he couldn't possibly believe that, and that it was part of some master plan...  i'm pretty sure he was being 100% honest

Both Offenses suck

What is with these weird end-arounds on every play. They aren't working at all.  And 3 turnovers in the first 10 minutes.

Pro style

Which is exactly why we need to return to a Pro-style offense.  The fact that so few programs run it today means we can attract the top offensive talent.

Also

RR won't be back.  The brightest spot.

Where is our "elite" offense?

Our current offense is NOT

Our current offense is NOT elite.  14 points?  7 against ohio state?  That's mediocre to bad.  Our defense is terrible.  Our special teams are worse.  Time to fire dick rod.  NOW

It's about fairness

Only a few schools could realistically afford to pay their athletes.  How would a team like Eastern Michigan deal with this kind of stuff?  Unless you want to go back to the days where there are only 4 or 5 never-changing elite football programs, you can't pay the athletes.

Even better

The whole intro video from the company that makes them (OldHatCreative):

Personally I like CC threads

but seriously, this adds absolutely nothing whatsoever

Honestly

Honestly, I think DB is enough of a CEO type he might just be doing this for the money.  You can't take the businessman out of the man.

Pre penn-state logo

How do you think it compares to the old logo?

The Rose Bowl

The Rose Bowl never should have joined the BCS.  TCU should be playing UConn and Stanford should be playing Wisconsin.

Let's extend our 20-5 record

Let's extend our 20-5 record agains the SEC!  (tOSU is 7-11)

So basically, the door is

So basically, the door is open to superconferences, but we won't be the ones to start it

We want mooooooooooooore

We want mooooooooooooore goals!

This still doesn't justify

This still doesn't justify waiting.  Whether he holds a press conference on Jan 2 or yesterday, it will still come off as "this is your one last shot".

Assuming he is keeping RR,

Assuming he is keeping RR, can you name me 1 good reason why DB should wait?  I can come up with about 1.5 million rea$on$ to wait until after Jan 1st to fire him, but not one reason to wait if he's sticking around.

Thanks David Brandon!

Your indecisiveness cost us another one.

Biggest Positive

We had success out of the I formation, traditional play action, bootlegs.  That first drive was great.

Our athletes can run a pro-set.  Transition will come easy.

Pat White

Pat White was also cut.  I hope this translates to Denard staying for his senior season.

Tom Brady

Brady had the success he did because he fought tooth and nail for the starting job.  I think you are more likely to make to the next level by fighting your way to the top rather than taking the job by default at a lesser school.

Why?

I'm just curious here.  Why does Tate's dad answer the phone when some blogger calls and wants to bring up a nasty article written about his son?  And how do you have Tate's dad's number in the first place?

Turn it off!

I spent the whole game hoping they would turn it off.  It sounded terrible.  I sat near the band.

The only way I could see it working would be if the speakers were right next to the band.  The speed of sound is finite, and the stadium is big.

Late in the TV special

Despite side-stepping the question early in the show, they addressed it later.

It goes:

  • Conference
  • Head-to-head
  • division
  • BCS
Who would you move to the

Who would you move to the other division?

I think it's a certainty

Remember, the AD's UNANIMOUSLY voted for Nebraska and UNAMIOUSLY approved the division and schedule.  I think everyone is on board with the 9 game schedule.  They pushed the date back to 2015 to accomodate everyone's contracts, and I think everyone is on board.

It doesn't last forever

Sadly, not everyone is Brett Favre.  The average NFL career is only 3 years.  Hopefully his Michigan education will take him far.

I wish him the best in his post-football career.  Minor was a true Michigan Man.

I disagree.  With larger

I disagree.  With larger divisions, you can preserve more history.

If I had to choose

I never felt Northwestern was a good fit, being the only Private school.  They would be one.  I think Indiana or Illinois should be the other one.

I'd like to see a 16 team conference

I do hate not seeing Penn State more often.  But, we weren't going to play them the next 2 years anyways,

I'd like to see a 16 team conference, with an 8 team division consisting of former "Big Ten" teams and the other division containing "Big 12, Big East" teams.

We were the #1 issue

After the division announcement, the first thing they talked about is the Mich-OSU date.  We still are the Big 2.

Creates the least fuss this

Creates the least fuss this way.  People will quickly move on to real football and not complain all offseason.

Why play them twice in a row?

When you can play them THREE times in a row

Enter the game undefeated, #1 and #2

Loser of "The Game" wins "The Championship Game"

Both 1-Loss teams play for the BCS National Championship.

Yet their president....

At least according to this, everything is very preliminary.

But... the OSU president favors moving it earlier?

Bo

Bo would have fought it.  There are some battles worth fighting, and this is one of them.

I can still post

What does it do exactly?  Besides deduct from an arbitrary online currency?

Of course a lot of it had to

Of course a lot of it had to do with his being a republican, but there was a lot of opposition from M fans/alumni as well.

Brandon's replacement, Julia Donovan Darlow, has said she wouldn't take a stance on such a "complex issue" until she was a regent.

"I just didn't feel it was appropriate for me to take a yes/no position," Darlow said Wednesday. (Of course, Darlow has taken a position on stem-cell research [yes], affirmative action [yes] and tuition restraint [yes]. The stadium issue is complex, but it's not that complex.)

If I had to pick the worst thing...

To me, the worst thing to happen to Michigan Football in the past few years is not the bowl streak, or the losing seasons, or the MSU/OSU losses, or losing to a MAC school.

The worst thing would be to see THE rivalry lose much of its meaning and tradition by being moved.  So yes, I think this is important enough to overlook the good DB has done.

This would really suck for OSU

They have to play Nebraska, Wisc, Iowa every year, AND us as a protected rivalry?  Talk about a tough schedule.  At the same time Penn State has to play the likes of Illinois, Purdue, MSU, and Northwestern.
