that's unfortunate, but at least the interest is there on both sides

Sometimes I left early to study when we were getting our ass handed to us because I was supporting the university in other ways (e.g. by giving them thousands upon thousands of dollars so I could learn). If that calls my "fandom" into question and doesn't make me a Michigan Man in spite of having a diploma on my wall, meh, I'm okay with it. I value my education more than your opinion.

If you're referring to the practice round/opening round of Jacks course he designed, the back story was that he was with Johnny Miller, I believe, and the green was structured in a way where miller wanted to chip from one tier of the green to where the pin was located. The exchange was something like: N: don't you dare chip from there and ruin my green. You do it once then everyone will. M: but it's an impossible putt to make from here N: no it's not, I'll show you. That's more or less the exchange, though I've forgotten the details over the years. I was within earshot. So awesome for him to call it and sink it.

Well, obviously she doesn't care about Kalis the way she would her son. But if rude fans turn her off to a particular school, there wouldn't be any schools left from which to choose.

Perhaps she should read what OSU fans said about Kalis if she's going to use the voices of few to judge an entire fan base. This will always be an issue in today's tech age when people can hide behind keyboards.

Man, I love chess. And I'm from Jacksonville, too, so I appreciate the Jags love because there are, like, 57 total fans. I do have one question for you, though: if it can't be Harbaugh, as an athlete, for whom would you want to play if you were a current recruit?

Haha I'm a whiskey/bourbon type. But I will say, for a good chocolate espresso drink that has always been a hit with the ladies: 1 shot of each of espresso, vanilla vodka, kahlua, baileys. Line the martini glass with chocolate syrup. Definitely a big Xmas party favorite and can win you a few points

Presently I'm drinking "Elf Nog" coffee blend that I picked up from Busch's. It's mediocre. Suggestions, anyone?

Also understand this point. However, you wouldn't want to be the university that overextends financial commitments to a head coach during years of operating profit and then has to pay for it out of the general fund should things go south. Imagine the outrage if you are scraping for funds to promote the arts because your Athletic Department is in the red. Again, I'm in the we should pay Harbaugh whatever it takes, but I'm trying to play devils advocate and be in the mind of an academically focused university president.
|17 weeks 1 day ago||Totally understand. But you||
Totally understand. But you asked why it would be considered ridiculous. It's a drop in the bucket compared to UMHS, sure, but Harbaugh solely by himself isn't bringing in the revenues that the entire health system does, either.
|17 weeks 1 day ago||Because it still rolls up||
Because it still rolls up under the university. If you ran a multimillion dollar holdings company, would you be okay with one of your subsidiaries spending away a disproportionate amount of their profits for an investment just because you don't have to actively fund the venture at the moment? I'd be concerned. That said, I'm firmly in the hand over a blank check camp on Harbaugh.

A basketball court is only 28 yards long...considering most NFL QBs can hit a moving target on the money at that distance (think combine board bullseye) I would assume the full court, stationary throw is easier.
|1 year 5 weeks ago||I was able to do this maybe||
I was able to do this maybe 3/10 times in high school and I sucked. For a professional to put a ball in a one foot, stationary, window after a bit of practice isn't terribly impressive. I would guess that every QB in the league, starter or not, could sink that throw with a few attempts.

I-form or pistol near twins right with Gallon/Funchess. They run hi/lo outs. Play action stretch off left tackle, but Fitz continues out into the wheel route.
No idea if this works or is even a thing.

|1 year 39 weeks ago||In theory, all contact sports||
In theory, all contact sports would have the issue to one degree or another. But what I'm saying is the devastating and sometimes literally crippling hits are when someone leaves their feet, uses their body as a projectile, and spears someone helmet to helmet.
In my entirely unprofessional opinion if you take away the helmet, stabalizing collars, and shoulder/chest padding, make high tackles a penalty, someone isn't going to be a human missile at someone's head. They're not going to bust their face open, be out 3 games, and go get carted off for 120 stitches for any 'ooh's and ahh's' or to save a yard here or there.
Will the issue still arise from time to time? Sure. But will we have a decreased number people with severe injury from whiplash, paralysis, brain damage, etc.? Maybe. But at this point, I think it's worth exploring.
Many athletes have come out to say the reason they go all out, all the time, is that the immediate pain factor isn't there with today's equipment. The problem is that internal damage can and does still arise and be prevalent over time.
Just my two cents that probably isn't even worth as much.
|1 year 39 weeks ago||Honestly, the best way may be||
Honestly, the best way may be to remove padding. The hits in football are much more violent and at high speeds due to the protective nature of the "uniform". Rugby doesn't have this issue because players have to be conscious about preventing injury instead of going 110% and relying on advanced gear.

My thoughts exactly. It was his ego that had him tee it up again instead of the drop zone. With today's pin placement, you have a lot more green to work with vs yesterdays.
