- I have watched the program up close and personal and have been able to guage the head coaching ability of RR much better than most people
- Players are working hard
- Players have confidence in their coach
- Players are studying hard and being good students
- After a questionable start, the program is exceedingly clean and expected to remain so
- Team has been making progress, expecially on offense
- Team will make some changes (insert your own speculation) on defense and we will expect significant improvement next year
- Program is moving in the right direction
- We have a good football coach, as his track record has proven
- Sports columnists are not in charge of Michigan athletics
- Radio talk show hosts are not in charge of Michigan athletics
- When DB says that he intends to make a decision after the end of the season, he means it
- Next time he waits until the end of a season to make a decision of any kind recruits, sports columnists, players and all others will know they are wasting their time speculating on why he waited until the end of the season
- DB is in charge of Michigan athletics

Experience in years does not equal experience in a system. I believe that changing both offensive and defensive systems detracts significantly from the validity of your analysis. With all players in a different system, it's halfway to starting over.

Let's say he goes 10 - 3 next year anyway !! Would that make you feel better?
|3 years 12 weeks ago||Naive perhaps, but||
How hard can it be to put 15-20 plays from last year's offensive playbook into this year's offensive playbook. It's not like the players have to be taught them. It is only up to the OC to call them. (Assuming all offensive players haven't thrown their 2010 playbooks away.)

You flip a coin twice and it comes up heads both times. You are grousing because it is probably going to come up heads again. The reason we flip coins is to see how they come up.
You pick two examples; undoubtedly the two examples you want to pick to make your preconceived point. Well done. Hopelessly unconvincing.
Surely you don't presume to prove that there is no coach out there who can't make good use of existing skills.

To show that speculation can go both ways, let's speculate that on January 8th, 2011 DB gives RR a 3-year contract extension. At that time he cites all the reasons he feels the program is going in the right direction
This will leave several impressions
Have a nice day!

If there is an announcement Monday (wildly speculated), it will not be to fire the coach, It will be to announce a contract extension for RR and put an end to all this nonsense. If anyone has been listening to anything David Brandon has been saying this past year, it all points to retaining the coach.
|3 years 30 weeks ago||Contract out stays in||
Why would RR want to remove the clause that allows him to be fired if UM is put on probation? Because he is planning on violating NCAA rules!!! Nuts to that. He will be just fine with the provision remaining in an extension because he will want to assure Brandon that he will run a very clean program.

This thread brings back old memories. Back in the late 50's - early 60s, I was an intramural team quarterback. Seven-man touch. Every offensive play we ran (all pass) was designed to put pressure on one defender and make him choose to cover one of two receivers. Then throw to the open guy. Not real complicated. Won an intramural touch football title. Lots of fun, too.

No lost fumbles: Check
No interceptions: Check
Open receivers=good routes: Check
QB accurate: Check
Opp held to 10 points: Check
No quick scores by opp: Check
Ate up the clock: Check

This post is a year or two too early. 2011 and 2012 will be determinative. 2010 is not. Just look at the youth in the 1 and 2 deep.

All this discussion about whether DG should redshirt seems to assume we will need DG as a fifth year senior. That's the year 2014. In college football years, that's light years away. If the offense gets rolling, Michigan will have its pick of the best high school spread option quarterback in the country every year. If he deserves to play, play him. We are selfish in wanting him here for a fifth year. Did you ever think about what DG wants?
|3 years 34 weeks ago||Recruiting goes on every year.||
We have another good QB prospect coming in next fall, and if I had my guess one or two every year thereafter. Play the best you have whenever you have them.

Someone once said "Times; they are a changin'. But the world won't end. It will just change.
|3 years 35 weeks ago||Simple||
Why isn't it just as simple as Moundros needs more work to get the position down; first team gets most reps; Moundros needs to work with first team.

At age 71 I strongly support RR.

It is difficult for me to imagine this happening without serious conversations between the head coach and the AD. If this actually gets scheduled, it shows a tremendous amount of confidence by the AD in his head coach, and a tremendous amount of confidence of the head coach in his future teams.
