I'm leaning with you, maybe a kid might make something up to get some attention and maybe some other school would pick up interest, but who knows.

Their D is too soft. If you can't outmuscle them then gotta at least try to beat them with speed and numbers. Blitz the crap out of them to throw off their timing instead of letting them get a head of steam.

Such a momentum game and Oregon had it in the beginning. Not saying they would have won but those back to back third down drops were major momentum killers. After that their D was either tired or less inspired. Maybe both

I'm surprised that people aren't talking much about Speight, sure the dude was a three star (if that even means anything) but he also 6-6 and started for the Under Armour game and he redshirted so probably heavier now too.
I'm expecting Oline to make a jump next year so that should help out the running game and passing game and what I want most is a legit deep threat to emerge from the Canteen, Drake Harris, and Brian Cole and rest of the WR group.

Honestly if there is a Coach that can work wonders with QBs it's probably Harbaugh. He seems like the type of coach that can simplify the game for a young player. I mean he even made Kaepernick look good one year, that's impressive

I'm sure Harbaugh helped Andrew Luck a bunch, but he always seemed like the type of player that would have been good at a lot of places. Dude seems to define student of the game.
I would say the better example would be Alex Smith, who was riding the bust bus before Harbaugh came in.

I must have missed the part where Brian said if offered he would come here. Can somebody link?
|10 weeks 1 day ago||What god damn snowflakes? You||
What god damn snowflakes? You have a running back that's averaging almost 7 yards a carry and pretty much unstoppable all game and you only run him 14 times or whatever.
Jesus Christ this staff is so damn stupid, and Funchess? If I was the coach I would have benched his ass like 5 games ago.

Positions argument aside, wouldn't it make more sense to recruit speed since you can't coach speed, but maybe coach strength? Like Frank Clark for example.

I think Chesson is probably the best gunner lol. Silly me was thinking Chesson to LB earlier in the season

Probably on Indiana, but somehow I feel that on his 2nd TD run, if it was the other RB's they would probably go straight and get tackled on the 2 yard line instead of making that cut that he did to get in for a TD. RB instincts woot

Indiana caveats apply, but one thing thats noticeable is that Drake makes a decision he just goes, doesnt spend too much dancing or whatever even when he hits a wall, he hits a wall quickly and decisively..
He seems to be more instinctual than any RB we've seen so far. Faster than Green or Smith, more decisive than Smith, and at this point looks to break tackles better than green, again it's Indiana, but Smith also played in this game and the limited carries that he gotten werent too impressive either.
I'm really curious to see how he would do against better competition

Finally a one cut and go running back. So glad to see Drake and Justice getting some more playing time. For a big back Deveon dances wayyy too much and tries to take Denard angles without Dilithium
|14 weeks 5 days ago||Not that you ever wanna see a||
Not that you ever wanna see a player hurt, but I really want to see some speed from the RB position and really want Hayes and Drake Johnson to get some touches. D. Smith dances side to side a bit too much sometimes and he's nowhere near fast enough to get away with it.

It's tough with GR3 because he was playing out of position and came in with a bunch of first rounders at guard/wing. I honestly think if GR3 was put as the focal point of Beilein's offense he would easily be a first rounder as well, shit he almost made it to the first round playing the 4.

Didn't Hoke wear a headset as a Dline coach back in the day? Could have sworn I saw a pic of him wearing one and pointing.
|17 weeks 5 days ago||I'm reading a profile on him||
I'm reading a profile on him and he seems like a good no bullshit type of coach that's had success and as you say well rounded. He's looking for a challenge and Michigan right now certainly fits that bill and even took a paycut to coach at the worst team in FBS last year. I hope when the time comes Michigan takes a hard look at him.
|18 weeks 4 days ago||I'm pretty sure the player||
I'm pretty sure the player development issue is real. The team is not THAT young and players seem like they are actually regressing. I mean you would think with all of the Michigan contacts and influence we can get a good amount of coaches with the necessary experience to teach these players.
With all due respect to Roy Manning, why cant they get an actual DB coach to coach? His recruiting is great and all but at this point, under achieving seems to be theme. Let him coach the LBs and bring in another CB coach and let Mattison focus on scheming overlooking the defense. Might as well have coach Hoke coach the DBs, started out with probably the same amount of experience at that position.
I'm still holding out hope that Hoke can be the correct guy cause he loves Michigan and if it works, we will have another long time coach, but I hope his loyalty doesn't cost him a job since players do like him as evidenced by the recruiting classes he is able to bring in. Even coach Beilein had to turn his staff upside down before his system started producing.

Being a fan of the team and the Philadelphia Eagles, that cheap shot he took against Notre Dame at the end of the game is almost identical to the one Nick Foles just took that ended up in a team wide brawl with two ejections. And those are contract players and not college teammates.
Maybe the Michigan players were kinda beat after the ass kicking they just took but what happened to the fire? Arent teams that are getting embarassed suppose to be more chippy and on edge?
I'm probably gonna get downvoted to shit but teams of the last few years just look soft and lacked heart and that's not so much on the players as it is on the coaching. Just don't see that "worked too hard to be losing" attitude.
|19 weeks 1 hour ago||I think it's just DG's||
I think it's just DG's confidence is super shaken. I know our oline is super shaky and he probably does not have enough time to throw a deep ball but he should at least take some shots. Wasn't DG supposed to be a great deep ball thrower? I mean see one on one on the outside and let the WR make plays. Maybe connecting one some of them might keep the other team from loading the box all the time.

What's frustrating is that it's team work. Bumping and throwing off timing is crucial for spread teams that air out out. Probably would help our d line too, throwing off rhythm giving more opportunities to sack.

I wanted Isaac to get his waiver now before he gets ruined by coaching. I'm so pessimistic now.
|21 weeks 22 hours ago||My understanding of football||
My understanding of football is not as in depth as a lot of others on here but I never understood why we dont incorporate more screens and use the other team's aggressive defense against them.
It's obvious every team is gonna attack our O-line so why dont they just let them pass and drop it off to Justice Hayes or something.
Or roll the QB out more... We have a dual threat QB and don't know how to use him. This dumbassery of play calling is more frustrating than anything.
And Jesus Mattison, wtf are you doing. We are going right back to that pussy ass defense. We already knew ND's oline was good. I was just hoping for more blitzing. Anybody can complete those passes with the amount of time and protection Golston had. You can have 12 dbs back there but they are still gonna complete all the passes with the amount of time he has.
I'll reserve judgment on Nussmeier since he's new and maybe system wasnt implemented enough yet or whatnot, but Mattison has been a big dissapointment and it seems like some comments I've read when he was hired about him being ousted out of Baltimore might have some truth to it.
No doubt in regards to his recruiting ability, but his ability to defend against spread teams or any team thats remotely good is just sad.
Everybody always talks about Hoke being a player's coach, and somebody that players love to play for.... I dont know what goes on behind the scenes but it feels like our players don't have an edge. I think we can all agree that we're excited about Jabrill, not just because of his talents but also because of his confidence and swagger.
