Harbaugh is quite obviously not coming back to college without a Super Bowl ring while his brother and Pete Carroll have them.
Maybe it's time to stop clinging to "the one that got away"

Without using the comma, "and" serves as a conjunction which joins two clauses on equal footing, or it serves to join two descriptive phrases.
With the comma, the second clause functions takes on a slightly diminished role, serving to elaborate on the first. This style is less formal and more imitive of verbal conversation. [<-- notice my choice here: I don't use the comma because I'm joining "less formal" with "more imitive of verbal conversation"]. There is a small difference, and personally I find that it colors the way I understand the sentence. [<-- and my choice here: the comma is not strictly necessary, but I include it to denote a small pause and convey that the second clause is more of an elaboration on the first]
The second function could be served by a dash -- but that feels like a more exteme disruption of the flow.
P.S. written grammar is not something that modern linguistics regards with much seriousness, nor is it concerned much with the enforcement of formal rules even in speech. the function of language is to communicate -- the function of enforcing certain style standards is mostly to stratify persons based on their educational attainment and willingness to conform. if you don't think that a person's educational attainment is any reflection on their personal worth or the validity of their experience [and no offense but I think you're an asshole if you do] then don't correct someone's written grammar in informal internet conversation.

This is the most reasonable post I have found on this site in quite some time.
I think it's weird also how many people here were so offended about the 'muggles' thing. We fans are not in Schembechler hall every day. We don't know what happens in practices or in team meetings. We are profoundly uninformed relative to the players and it is flat out wrong to insist that we know what is best for them.
I spoke with a former player at a bar here in Chapel Hill last night, and the topic of Michigan naturally came up while we were watching Arizona lose to Oregon. His experience was that when something goes wrong on the field it almost never has anything to do with the coaches and almost always is caused by the guys lining up across from you being faster, stronger, or more talented.

Jim Harbaugh, arguably the fiercest competitor to ever play for the University of Michigan, is not leaving the NFL while his brother John and hated nemesis Pete Carroll have Super Bowl rings and he does not.
Anyone who thinks Jim Harbaugh will be our coach next year is in for some bitter disappointment.

You have to consider also that last year's stats were inflated by Jeremy Freaking Gallon being able to magically get open whenever he wanted.
I think the sack rate this year is at least partially on our receivers not being able to get separation.

That's funny, because what does anyone have to say on this blog besides shitting on Hoke?
He's a dead man walking. Let him die in peace.
|3 weeks 23 hours ago||If you went to Michigan,||
If you went to Michigan, chances are overwhelmingly likely that you had it pretty damn good growing up. You have a responsibility to be empathetic towards those whose lives have been fucked up beyond your imagining. If you condemn a young person who's had a life several orders of magnitude more terrifying than what you can conceive of, YOU have character issues.
People do not make it out of that kind of background without bringing some serious baggage along with them. They just don't. No one comes out healthy and whole without a long and difficult process of healing.
No one is nominating Clark for any kind of character award. That much is obvious. But we should be pulling for him to get his life turned around.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||If your response to that||
If your response to that situation is anything other than feeling terrible for everyone involved in it, you're an asshole. Ignorant at best. Clark most definitely had a more difficult upbringing than anyone else on that team or on this blog. The reality of DV is that it recurs in an intergenerational cycle where the abused become the abusers.
Did you know that at the start of the season, he said that his aspiration was to go to the Rose Bowl so that maybe, just once, his Mom would actually be able to see him play? If that doesn't break your heart then I have nothing else to say to you.
