7-5 And a bowl bid. UCONN - 65% Notre Dame - 60% ( I assume G. Tate is heading for the NFL ) UMASS - 99% Bowling Green - 85% Indiana - 65% Michigan State - 50% Iowa - 45% Penn State - 25% Illinois - 60% Purdue - 60% Wisconsin - 25% Ohio State - 25% I predict a season not too unlike this one, a hot start followed by a tough slog through the B10. However hopefully the team will be improved in general, we return most starters and will have a chance at finally starting a QB w/some experience and a defense w/ consecutive season with the same coaching staff.
He didn't just push him. He He didn't just push him. He grabbed his vest and gave him the "what's your name" routine. When you do that you're implying you're going to try to get that person fired. For what? Doing his job? Furthermore there is no reason to be pushing people out of the way. Especially not security guards in an era when Joe Average can't even bring in so much as a tiny bag. Petty and stupid behavior; corporate arrogance. I'm glad it made the news.
I'm the guy whose diary post provoked the nasty comments, which were then rebuked, which was then moved/deleted (don't know which, really) and now someone is complaining about the move/delete. First of all, let me simply state that I never expected anyone to get so worked up about the original post. In hindsight it was a little silly, but jeez - shall I quote Rich Rod? "Get a life" if you didn't like it. If the diary section is something to be guarded carefully, or reserved for "high quality content" (whatever that really means) then I humbly suggest that it be reserved for certain users, perhaps those with a certain number of points or something like that.
so I'm looking forward to the season, sue me From the diary section: "This is your own personal section of MGoBlog, to post in as you like." Tough crowd here, jeez. You guys take everything so seriously. It's college football. Chill. It's meant to be fun.
Look, I realize that this subject is being beaten to death, but on the other hand, but how much else is there to talk about right now? So Why neg the post? Heaven forbid that Tate and Denard split time during the first 4-5 games. "Who's the better qb?", will be the only thing people will want to discuss! Chill out a little, guys.
gee sorry Didn't realize this news article that just came out today has already been discussed 'ad nauseam'.
oh please please be true "I mean, it's scary. Every time you miss him, strike up the band, it's a touchdown." To have a threat like this is beyond awesome. Now if the o-line has improved like they say, we could be seeing a significantly better offense this season. Just a thought - If he's this fast, and Tate wins the starting job due to better passing/familiarity with the offense, how long before Denard moves to WR? If he's that talented you gotta have him on the field, right?
Not too surprising, considering last season Last season RR let Threet and Sheridan basically try to win the starting job on the field during the first 2-3 games, I had a feeling he might do something similar this season. Of course RR would love to have 3 viable qb's, who wouldn't , especially after last season, and I could see Forcier and Robinson splitting time, at least for the first few games. Sheridan too? I don't see that happening, unless Sheridan is no longer DEATH and perhaps only a SEVERE HEAD INJURY. Of course there's the Coner, and a couple other kids (Nader Furrah? and the other kid, Kennedy - played a few snaps in the spring game ) but if we haven't heard anything about them yet I don't think they're viable options at this point.
stadium employee FTW I'll be scanning tickets and angering women with large purses ("I'm sorry that bag is too big to be allowed into the stadium, mam.") at each game this year. After the game starts I get to go watch the game, I mean assist the ushers.
well yeah.. but I expect an improvement in turnovers just out of the sheer HORROR of last season, being so bad, they can't do much worse if they tried. The main problem with the defense is depth. A few serious injuries and we're in deep trouble, our starting safeties will likely be a true freshman (Emelien?) and a converted corner (Woolfolk). The D-line will be ok if it stays healthy. Linebacking is a question mark to me, how good are they really? Hard to say, at least for me. The secondary is a concern depth-wise, and inexperience wise at safety. I really can't see UM doing better than 7-5, ok maybe 8-4 if they stay healthy and get lucky. Remember this was a squad that lost to a *bad* MAC school (Toledo) last season. Of course we have a new DC and all that, but I don't see UM doing any better than 7-5.
Hmm.... No, never. To Hell With Notre Dame!
Good Riddance If he was involved with drugs and so on, then good riddance. I'd rather see UM go 0-12 than be turned into some kind of Miami (FL) thuggery-filled nonsense. Reminds me of that one kid - Kellie Baraka? Highly recruited RB, recruited by UM and ND, chose UM then couldn't leave the weed alone.
jobs in Michigan Will be hard to come by. Best thing to do for grad school would be to go the GSI or research assistant job, don't know what your majoring in, but it's a good way to pay for your education. I earned my masters in engineering by being a "research assistant" which basically meant I was writing software for a couple of professors. Tuition was waived plus a monthly paycheck.
My last 3 1) One Man's Wilderness Sam Keith/ Richard Proenneke - guy decides to retire early to a log cabin he builds himself in Alaska. Interesting diary & photographs. 2) The Next 100 Years - George Friedman - interesting predictions from this guy. Economy will suck for another 20 years, FYI. 3) Poland 1939 - Steven J Zaloga - the mechanics of the German invasion of 1939 that started WW2. The Poles were outnumbered and outgunned. The French and British could have done more (a lot more) but probably not enough to save Poland. Currently reading "A Bridge Too Far", by Cornelius Ryan. Another WW2 history text. Good stuff. Also I'm going to try to finish the Zombie Survival Guide tonight.
Grad school? Go to UM for grad school. Get a Teacher Assistant (AKA Graduate Student Instructor) job or research assistant job and have your tuition paid for + monthly paycheck. You are now a Wolverine. Problem solved? Also did you at least get the Michigan fan girl's phone #?
My 2 cents Western: Not guaranteed win, but we can't lose to a MAC school two years in a row, can we? Nah. Win, 1-0. ND: I see ND as improved, but we can't fumble five bazillion times in one game again, can we? I see the ND game as a toss-up, either team could win, but I think we'll be able to pull it out. Win. 2-0. Eastern: OMG RON ENGLISH? No. Eastern will prove feisty with an expected aggressive defense, but it's Eastern. Win, 3-0. Indiana: Uh... Indiana's not good. At all. Win, 4-0. MSU: A toss-up. Michigan will pull it out, I hope. Even though it's at God Awful East Lansing. Calling it here, a win. 5-0. Iowa: Who? Oh yeah, Iowa. Have we ever played them? Seems like the 1980's since we have. Stupid Big Ten/Eleven with its crazy scheduling. Anyway, This is another pick-em, and since I've said we'll win the first two toss-ups, I should chose us to lose one. OK, first loss to I-oh-way. 5-1. Delaware State? OMG JUST LIKE APP STATE?!?!??! No, not this time. 6-1. Penn State: yeah... uh... not gonna win. 6-2. Illinois: Juice Williams shows Tate Forcier how to run the spread. Lose, 6-3. Purdue: They suck. However, just like last season Purdue puts a totally untested QB against us in hopes of racking up another 48 points. This time, it doesn't work. Win, 7-3. Wisconsin: Toss up. Since I've predicted 2-1 so far in the toss up games, time for another loss. 7-4. The Bucknuts: Face it, they're better than us. But if you want to live in the magic happy land were it's OMG BRANDON MINOR DOES BIAKABUTUKA IMPRESSION! UPSET W/300+ YDS RUSHING BABY! BELIEVE IT! At the moment I choose to live in magic happy land, 8-4 with the shocker upset of OSU! 8-4!!!!! woo! We will then go to a crappy bowl and lose. So... 8-5.
Another one bites the dust And how many kids have left the team now? Jeebus. Also, internet hate-mongering "HURR DURR HE WAS TEH SUCK ANYWAY" begins in 3...2...1...
OMG MICHIGAN IS LOSING THE OMG MICHIGAN IS LOSING THE IN-STATE RECRUITING BATTLE ! Oh wait...nevermind.
>> Tate is way ahead in terms >> Tate is way ahead in terms of accuracy and knowing when to use different touch on the ball." That's an understatement. Watching his youtube highlight it was clear that Robinson A) is fast as heck, B) still needs work on this throwing mechanics Forcier was surprisingly accurate during the spring game and I honestly hope that continues throughout the upcoming season. We may actually see 7-5 if Forcier stays healthy. I think it's assured that it's going to be Forcier to start, followed by Sheridan, who equals death unless we're playing Minnesota. If Robinson makes it in as a QB it'll be another situation where, like Feagin last year, he'll be running the ball.
thinking out of the box Outside of the obvious "APP STATE GRUDGE MATCH", perhaps a rematch with an old bowl opponent like Washington State - I don't think we've played them since '97. Or a double header with a Michigan game followed by Slippery Rock vs ??
horrible, if true If no one else is panicking yet, I think I will go ahead and OMG PANIC. If true, this is very very bad. We now have no qb's with any experience - again. Oh there's Sheridan, but as we know Sheridan = Death (unless we play Minnesota). OMG PANIC PANIC PANIC Forcier will to prove to be a wunderkind and never ever get hurt. Yeah, that'll happen. Yeah, that's it. That's what's gonna happen.
RichRod's not-so-mad recruiting skillz Is it OK to panic now? Every week it seems there is another decommit. This team is starting to look very thin at LB and DB. The fact that we have a wide friggin' open QB position and only 1 QB commit this season is also disturbing. You'd think kids would be lining up to play here. I'm really getting concerned about this program. There is a certain crowd that seems to see everything through Maize and Blue glasses, believing that everything will be fine since "Rich Rod did great at WVU" and so on. I'm having my doubts. You'd think he wouldn't be losing his QB recruits to friggin' Tulsa, for one thing....
McGuffie's concussions Seriously bad news. Three in one year. This is the kind of crap that can end a career. Let's hope he at least has the chance to play next season. I've read that depression is one of the many symptoms experienced by athletes following concussion. There have been rumors that McGuffie has had off-field issues along those lines, concussions won't be helping that either. I think they need to move him to WR, maybe he won't take such a beating?
