Tough loss for the Blue Devils, our safety Matt Daniels had a great game though...I hope he gets a chance at the next level because he is a phenomenal player. Wasn't too impressed by VT...FSU came in the week earlier and I remember watching their kickoff team, it was a bunch of like 6'4", 4.4 guys and they completely dominated the Blue Devils. Didn't have the chance to watch the FSU-ND game tonight, but I would be much more worried if UM matched up with FSU or Clemson...by far the two most athletic teams in the ACC that, when they are on, can be very tough.

VT just seemed like a solid, well-coached team, but they didn't blow me away with size or speed. I think our heralded (at least in the preseason) kicker Will Snyderwine was something like 1/4 on field goals and we had 4 or 5 turnovers. I personally thought they were throwing too much on offense as well. Granted, maybe VT didn't really get up to play in Wallace Wade, but I got the impression they were just getting by the whole season based on how weak the ACC is this year...they got demolished by Clemson twice and were fortunate enough to not draw the Seminole. There really aren't many other decent teams in the league. Their win against UVA was impressive, but UVA is still UVA in football...I wouldn't read too much into that.

FYI: Largely accurate

FYI: Largely accurate list...although when Maryland was good around the turn of the century they were a "tenting game" as well as UNC and I would argue our second biggest rival. Duke also recruits heavily from the DMV region, and the two schools are both competitive rivals in MLax, which adds to it. The Ky thing has taken a recent dimension with Calipari snagging JWall over Coach K and taking quite a different approach to managing his team than Coack K, but since we don't usually play them each year (while we usually play My twice) I don't think they are even really as big rivals as State.

And I don't know what you are talking about, Duke hates UNC plenty.

Not Rivals

Everyone thinks they are our rival...name the last time a team beat Duke and didn't rush their home court. Just like Michigan football, Duke basketball draws the best out of all opponents. And just like U of M, we only have one true rival (and at times unfortunately resort to elitist remarks at our state's major agrilculturally founded public institution).
