It's also about hiring smart people who can teach. Every great leader surrounds themselves with staff who support what they may not do as well. Michigan hired defensive specialist Luke Yaklich away from Illinois State this past offseason. This may be the most significant difference. Smart. Team players. Fit a slot in a program. Execution. If you’re going to Crisler today, search out a concession stand selling the giant M shaped pretzels NOT the regular pretzels. Only certain spots sell them. They are amazingly good. I couldn’t care less that they cost $10. My daughter, a freshman at Michigan, is going to them game today. She sent me a text this morning asking which concession stand sells them. I wonder if that pretzel is her #1 reason for going to the game. lol

Accountability is a function so lost in our society. I watched video of a few of these victimized women addressing this scumbag and found myself wishing they were allowed to truly punish him. I hope there are some guards in the other Big House that turn their backs.
As for the line of individuals who were in positions of authority that could have taken action, shame, shame, shame on them all. They too are criminals for robbing these women of so much, none of which can be replaced. If the penal system can't address MSU's staff for their complete lack of respect for another human, I hope these women take civil action against Michigan State and each person individually. Protecting a serial rapist is beyond comprehension. Those who participated in the cover-up must be held accountable for not protecting those they were responsible for. Prayers to each of these victims and their families.
He keeps disappearing while on the court. Can't happen. Livers has earned every moment he plays. Wait...I'm with Brian. NBA - He sucks. Needs to stay at Michigan 5-6 years. lol
If only Michigan Football would play at a level to allow us to enjoy this caliber of writing from Brian. I LOVE this site when Brian is this on. I'm glad football is over and he doesn't have to muddle through articles about an underachieving team, all the while trying to find a positive in the chaos. This basketball team may drive you crazy with their on court mental indifference twice per game but, at times, they are incredibly fun to watch. If Coach B can get even 39:04 out of them per game, I wouldn't want to play them.
There was a link on the Women’s Track and Field Facebook page that allowed me to watch the live updates/results on FloTrack (which was very cool). The site charted each runner and calculated team results each 1000m. It also indicated change in position per 1k.
Both teams led wire to wire. A truly inspired performance. Congratulations to all. Go Blue!
I watched both games. Beaubien was outstanding. Great location and a wicked drop ball. Threw fastball 65-66 consistently. I thought Katie Alexander behind the plate was outstanding. The star of the defense this day was at 3rd base (Taylor Swearingen ?) who made several outstanding plays.
This is a very athletic team and showed great speed on the bases. That said, the offense was seemingly lackluster. Central threw 4 different pitchers, 1 freshman and 3 seniors, in the 10:30am game in which Michigan really only hit the freshman hard. CMU’s other freshman pitcher, Cloe Mallory, had them off balance for the first 3 innings of the Championship game. She was pulled one batter after taking a line drive off her shin. Only a late game home run put the game out of reach.
I will take great pitching and solid defense any day but the lack of overall power on offense is surprising/concerning.
Watching Beaubien for the next few years is going to be a treat.
Excellent coach. Has done everything necessary to prove he deserves the opportunity. It should be a no-brainer IF that's what Mel wants. The best point of all is he is truly a good person and will long be a positive representitive of the University of Michigan.
Both are brutal. Went to a campus bar for pre-game and it was 95% Michigan fans. While that was fun, wtf? Next road trip we will stay in Chicago and take the train north for the game. Purdue isn't much better. Beyond boring.
You haven't been to a game in a long time. It's going to be a fun game to watch regardless and this team has a legacy already. Treat yourself. Get good tickets. It isn't like you do this all of the time. Is the extra $50-$100 going to change your life versus having an enhanced experience? Buy the tickets you want and enjoy every second.

I'm just happy to see he has a strong advisor helping him sort through it all. If Michigan is the best place for him, great. It was for me.
