15 hours 32 min ago While like I said being in the crease

does not automatically make it a no goal. It basically comes to a judgement call about whether the goaltender was given the room to make the save, if the player is not making direct contact with the goalie in the crease.

Upong further thinking after my initial post, I think it is a call  that can be argued is technically correct, but is not a call that is  not consistently made on that type of play. That second part is why Chicago had a problem with it.

Like I said though it is ultimately irrelevant, as the Franzen play has been called boarding all year and in the playoffs, and Chicago never would of gotten back in the game had that been called in the first place.

15 hours 56 min ago No, but he certainly wasn't giving

him the oppurtunity to get out though. And the player being in the crease does not make it interference  according to the rule. It is basically a judgement call if the goaltender was given enough room to make the save.

But like I said whatever anybody's opinion on that call is, the Hawks got a gift on the no call on Franzen so it is really irrelevant to the outcome. That is why Quenneville has no room to bitch about it, regardless of whether it was  the right call or not.

16 hours 23 min ago Kindl had the Hawk player pretty much

pinned in though. It looked like Howard still had enough room to make the save to me. Though looking at the rule, I would probally rephrase from very bad to questionable though, as you can certainly argue that he was impeding Howard to some degree. And yes Homer did have numerous phantom calls made on him based on his reputation, no disagreement with that.

Whatever the case it isn't revelant, Chicago had a goal given to them on a non-call, so it is wash, and they have no room to complain about the outcome. The team that deserved to win the game did.

The Hawks should worry more about the fact that the less talented team in the series is physically dominating them. Basically the Wings are doing to Chicago what some teams have done to the Wings in the past, all be it in a more clean manner than those teams.

16 hours 41 min ago The no call on the Franzen play

really makes that  a wash though.

16 hours 44 min ago Chicago (Quenneville in particular) needs to stop bitching

about that goalie interference call, it was a very bad call, but that no call on the Franzen play makes that a wash. Gotta love the Hawks getting pushed around physically, getting frustrated, and having to resort to cross-checks and boarding guys. First time in awhile I can remember the Wings frustrating a team with their physical play.

16 hours 48 min ago You didn't offend me, but I just

don't see the point of  insulting the Wings D-Men by comparing them to a grandmother, when they are overchieving given the opponent.

Just kind of baffled by some of the posts I see in these threads criticizing the Wing's young players for mistakes you would expect to see in pressure situations, considering the overall body of work in terms of overchieving to get this far.

16 hours 58 min ago They are young D-Men

for the most part, what exactly do you expect? They still make mistakes like you would expect, but they are certainly more sound than earlier in the season. I also have no idea what two games you have watching if you don't think the defense has been better after game one, considering Chicago is the best offensive team in the playoffs.

The Wings have already overachieved this year, anything they do from here is gravy to me. This isn't the 1997, 1998, 2001 Wings, or 2008 Wings team, you can't expect them to play as sound as those teams. This team has given everything they have, to get to this point, they deserve alot of credit. We have been spoiled by the Wings over the years, this is the first Wings team that has had to overchieve.

17 hours 30 min ago Not sure why you a are criticizing the Wings

d-men or the Wings in general when they are leading a more talented team 3-1( should be 3-0) and have outscored them 7-1 in the last two games.

17 hours 38 min ago Not really questionable, that play

has called a penalty consistently throughout the season. It was clearly boarding, that is just as dangerous of a play as any hit that resulted in a suspension so far in the playoffs. The NHL picks and chooses when it wants to "protect players" it seems.

17 hours 45 min ago Fucking unbelievable, that

has been a penalty 9 out of 10 times during the season. And what is with these announcers basically openly rooting for Chicago, trying to say that wasn't a clear cut penalty.

5 days 18 hours ago That based in Detroit thing/insult

would actually matter if Wing's fans actually lived in Detroit. Thankfully most of us do not, so that point is pretty much moot. Not to mention let's not act like Chicago is all sunshine and lollipops, there are some pretty rough areas in Chicago.

5 days 18 hours ago He left as a free agent for a better

contract, don't see how that is a being a sellout. The fact of the matter is he did the Wings a favor in the first place by signing with them for one year when he had long-term offers on the table the year before. I don't understand why fellow Wing fans have a problem with Hossa.

5 days 19 hours ago Do Blackhawk fans actually possess the

intelligence to come up with a a better chant than Detroit sucks? Guess not.

5 days 19 hours ago Guess the Wings will

have to put up with atrocious officiating in this series too. Only in the NHL is Ab's hit a two game suspension, and a cross-check to the head isn't even a penatly. NHL sure is great at picking and choosing when it wants to protect the head area.

1 week 3 days ago It was a terrible play for sure, but it's not like

Filp has had good year to begin with. If you look at most of the Wing's mistakes this series though, alot of them can be chalked up to inexperience.

I am not going to criticize this team as a whole though, they overcome alot during the regular season (injuries, etc,) to get to the playoffs, and so far have overcome alot of bullshit (idiotic officiating, Abs suspension) in this series to force  a game 7 with the number 2 seed in the conference.

1 week 3 days ago And it was known before the year

even started that sloppy play was going to happen more often this year than in year's past, so I am not sure why anybody is surprised. Let's be honest this is a rebuilding year for the Wings, they may be better than what other teams would consider rebuilding, but everybody knew this team was going to take it's lumps this season.

1 week 3 days ago This is not your typical Wings

team, though. Everybody knew this team was going to make mistakes this season more so than in the past. Filp has no excuse for the play he made, but you can't blame Quincey for the referees incompetence. Even if the Wings don't win this game, they deserve credit for battling through adversity to just make the playoffs.

None of the NHL officials deserve to have a job next year.

1 week 3 days ago Duck player tripped a

Wing, wasn't called, and it led directly to a goal.

1 week 3 days ago Good non-call on what

fucking planet exactly? Oh right, the one where NHL officials are now the worst in all of sports.

1 week 5 days ago Why exactly isn't that a

game misconduct? Intent to injure, check, player is injured, check. Right, double standards those are a bitch. I guess as long as the injury isn't related to the head everything is fine and dandy, in this league.

2 weeks 1 day ago If your trying to protect guys heads

the fact that Z wasn't injured had jack to do with Weber's intent last year.  And yes suspending Eller is also more evidence, that Shanahan has no idea what the hell he is doing.  It should be about the intent, not the result, unfortunately Shanahan has proved he doesn't care about what the player's intent was over the last couple of years.

2 weeks 1 day ago Not sure where you getting the half

the comments angle. I see one post mentioning a conspiracy theory, the others about Bettman are simply pointing out the incompetent bafoon that he is.

2 weeks 1 day ago The problem with that line of thinking

is that players leaving their feet after the hit happens all the time. Clearly the refs, have made a differentiation between leaving your feet prior to the hit and after the hit, based on how the game has been called. If the NHL wants to take the route of not leaving your feet period, before or after contact fine, but when I see 10 other instances of the same thing during the game I have a problem with it.

2 weeks 1 day ago Agreed, as far as that

Senators/Canadians play as well. Did not see anything wrong with that hit, his teammate was the one who was largely responsible for the outcome with the dangerous pass he made.

2 weeks 1 day ago While that is great, alot of good admitting the mistake

after the fact does.  And last I checked one poster made a joking reference to a Bettman conspiracy theory, most rational people wouldn't think that. Still doesn't mean that Bettman isn't an incompetent fool who knows jack about hockey and  has presided over three different work stoppages. If you honestly don't think the league has been tarnished since he took over, than you are flat out delusional.

2 weeks 1 day ago I think we all know that about

this year's Red Wings team, but that really has nothing to do with this.

2 weeks 1 day ago I don't have a problem with most of your

post, but you're flat out wrong saying he left his feet before the hit. FSN showed at least 5 different replays where they stopped the replay at the point  of initial contact, and both his skates were clearly still on the ice. That is a fact that was shown on the replays FSN showed, regardless of what you think of the rest of hit, his skates were still on the ice at initial contact.

2 weeks 1 day ago No, every angle shows Abs

with both skates on the ice at first contact. They showed that at least five different times on replays during the game. And yes it does matter whether his feet were on the ice at first contact, if you think otherwise, you are the delusional one since the rule specifically uses language about the hitter jumping into the other player. Feet leaving the ice after contact is completely different than feet leaving the ice prior to the hit. Most big hits end with a players skates not being completely on the ice.

And you seem to think this is just about this particular instance, the officating league wide has been piss poor all year long, and Shanahan's rulings have been widely inconsistent league wide.

2 weeks 1 day ago No, he sounds like a rational fan

who can see how the league has been tarnished by the idiots running things.

2 weeks 1 day ago Once again launching himself

would seem to imply he left his feet before the hit, he clearly didn't his feet were still on the ice on initial contact.

And don't give me that bullshit about protecting the head area, when Zetterberg had his head slammed into the boards last year and nothing happened. Shanahan can't pick and choose when to protect player's head area, anybody defending his lack of consistency is an idiot.
