|1 week 1 day ago||Exactly, this team didn't really need more free-swinging power||
They needed am everyday guy who could hit 1 or 2 ( Aoki for example, who played with KC last year) and help in the bullpen. They still have time to get bullpen help, though.
|1 week 1 day ago||Are you assuming they resign Scherzer?||
Because if they don't that outcome would be a moot point since there is no way that Greene can offset the loss of Scherzer. Once again, we are back to the same conclusion, that this team at best is not any better than last year's team that wasn't good enough.
|1 week 1 day ago||Krol was never a valuable piece of that trade in the first place||
Scouts had him pegged as fringe major league type of guy, who most likely would only stick in long relief. Not a surprise that is what he turned out to be.
They absolutely did not get enough Fister.
|1 week 1 day ago||Gose and Davis are not ideal 1 or 2 type of hitters||
Speed isn't the only component. Neither guy get's on base at a high enough clip to be a great option. Gose doesn't hit for a high enough average and Davis rarely walks.
Not to mention Kinsler being a huge question mark, considering how awful he was offensively in the second half.
|1 week 1 day ago||Not a fan of this offseason so far||
There is no way that losing Scherzer (assuming he isn't resigned) and Porcello from the rotation will lead to this being a better team next year, even with the addition of Cespedes, Simon, and a hopefully healthy Iglasias
Not a fan of Cespedes at all, free swinger to the bone on team that already didn't take enough walks last year. He had an OBP lower than Hunter's last year. Complete one trick pony at the plate, all or nothing. His defense is really the area that will provide a significant upgrade over Hunter's production from the last two years.
They still haven't done squat to bolster the bullpen, assuming Simon and Greene are in the rotation. As others have said you give up valuable trade pieces in the Simon trade for a journeymen, who fell apart in the second half of the year last year.They still don't have a legitimate number 1 or 2 type of hitter either, Kinsler was awful in the second half of the year last year, and neither Davis or Gose are 1 or 2 type of hitters.
Barring any significant move (resigning Scherzer or James Shields) I don't see how anybody could argue that this team has gotten any better and they weren't good enough last year. The window may be shut at this point.
|1 week 6 days ago||They lost seven games||
Do you really believe all of those teams were faster, stronger or more talented?
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Harbaugh could resign if he doesn't like the trade options||
SF doesn't have to fire him in order for him to consider UM.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Bill Snyder of KSU is 75||
I really don't see issue some people seem to have with Les Miles and his age. If Les is still passionate about coaching I don't think his age should be that big of a deal. I would prefer Harbaugh like anybody else, but Les is a good back up option with a track record of success if UM doesn't land Jim.
Edit: This commented was directed at Brody's posts earlier in the thread about not wanting Miles due to his age.
|6 weeks 3 days ago||Do not understand the comments in this thread||
The reality is the Tigers may need to overpay for Victor if they have to, because otherwise if they lose him and Scherzer they are simply not going to be a contender next year. The window will shut on the Tigers if they lose both of those guys,and don't replace them.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||Somewhat dead||
Nowhere near the rocking house that it was in the ND UTL game. Understandable, given the circumstances.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||Still standing with the players||
The coaches not so much. That is the important distinction.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||Disagree||
When you have QB who can't move and protect himself from big hits, I don't see how that isn't dangerous. Same thing with Morris and his ankle, even before the concussion.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||Finally switched||
About fucking time, idiots.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||Still on both stations||
Go fuck yourself, ESPN.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||TCU/Baylor on both ABC and ESPN 2||
What in the fuck is this bullshit?
|9 weeks 6 days ago||TCU/Baylor still on both channels||
What in the goddamn hell?
|9 weeks 6 days ago||WTF||
TCU/Baylor is on both ABC and ESPN 2 now.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||The problem is there is till 12 minutes left||
At this rate we will miss the whole first quarter.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||Once again, it is not blacked out||
Other games are just running way over.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||Guys, the game is not blacked out||
It is on ESPN 2, the problem is the Baylor/TCU game is still going,
|9 weeks 6 days ago||TCU/Baylor game going longer than expected||
It is listed on ESPN 2 on my guide (Comcast).
|9 weeks 6 days ago||Will it switch to the Michigan game?||
Still a full quarter to play in that TCU/Baylor game.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||Agree in principal||
However, that particular call was bogus to me. Didn't see enough contact either way to warrant a flag, that looked like typical handfighting to me. That could literally be called on every play.
|10 weeks 5 days ago||Why pitch hit Perez?||
I really don't understand sending a guy with a grand total of 5 at bats on the season up when your season is hanging in the balance. Don't see how Romine or Suarez aren't better options.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Then that ref is as incompetent as the ones on the field||
and replay booth. Two steps and a dive for the first down, is 100% a catch under college football rules.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Not missing a rule||
It 100% should have been a catch. As somebody said in another thread, the players just can't catch a break. Stuck with shitty coach, and the refs and replay official pile on in that crucial situation.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Is this a serious post?||
Great DC? Maybe we thought that in 2011, but what has Mattison shown the last 3 years to make anybody believe that now. Was it the torching of the secondary tonight by a mediocre QB?
Also newsflash, no QB is going to be effective in the pocket if you can't protect him. The core problem is not the QB position. At this point, having a guy with DG's legs is the only thing keeping some plays alive, it would only get worse with a true pocket passer. DG also made good throws from the pocket tonight, on the rare occasions there was one.
I still fully support this team, the players that is, and that is exactly why a change is needed. They may personally like Hoke, but that is a irrelevant. This staff is doing the players a disservice by not fully developing/utilizing their talent and potential. DG is probally the best example of that, among others.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||DG was not bad tonight||
One bad decision/throw withstanding he played a solid game and his legs were one of the only reason they had a chance at the end. When he had time to throw, he made the throws.
With a better coaching staff and offensive line DG would probally be having a pretty good year. No QB is going to look good behind this offensive line.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||I hate when people do this||
Officials and replay officials have a job to do like anybody else.They don't get a fucking pass because a team deserved it or left themselves vunerable. Yes, we all aware of the shitty job the coaching staff has done and that the pass defense was awful to night, but that doesn't mean a horribly botched call that occured on a crucial drive in a 2 point game shouldn't be talked about.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Did you even watch the play?||
He did not fall to the ground during the catch. He caught it, than clearly took two full steps. The dive (which was not a product of the actual catchl) was after he had already established possession by taking two steps. The two steps and dive are 100% football moves, and that is how that play is routinely called in college football.
