Per ASU, the Sun Devils are at Michigan for two the last weekend of February, so Michigan will not be sitting out of games that weekend. Safe to assume that senior night will be that Saturday?
I have yet to visit Nebraska, Maryland or Rutgers, but here are my rankings for the other ten from best to worst (not including Michigan Stadium which being #1 goes without saying):
1a. Wisconsin (Camp Randall Stadium): Great atmosphere and environment for a stadium that is over a century old.
2. Minnesota (TCF Bank Stadium): Having attended the last Michigan game there, I was impressed with the smaller but quaint stadium. The atmosphere was great and there didn't appear to be a bad seat in the house. Easily accessible from downtown Minneapolis by their Metro System.
3. Northwestern (Ryan Field): Small, but always a good atmosphere, especially if NU is having a decent season. Similar to TCF Bank Stadium, it's easily accessible from downtown Chicago via the CTA.
4. Iowa (Kinnick Stadium): Much better since the recent renovations. Great atmosphere in the stadium, especially for a night game.
5. Indiana (Memorial Stadium): Never a problem obtaining tickets. Stadium is small and atmosphere (at least for the home team) is not always the best, but never had any issues in seven trips (1995, 1997, 1999, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2015).
6. Ohio State (Ohio Stadium): Having not been there since 1996, my ranking would probably be higher if I had gone since their recent renovations. In 1994, we were seated in the lower deck against the back cold cement wall with the over hang of the upper deck partially blocking our view of the field. Miserable.
7. Illinois (Memorial Stadium): Been both pre- and post renovations. Meh. Niether good nor really bad. I do like the Marching Illini (near the top of Big Ten Marching bands for me after the MMB, of course.)

Penn State (Beaver Stadium): To the piece-by-piece construction of it to the swaying of the upper deck in the endzone to the creepy and disgusting fan memorial of Paterno, this stadium is best when Michigan is kicking butt and their fans have not much for which to cheer (see 2015). Also, I hate their section letters; a little confusing to outsiders.
9. Purdue (Ross-Ade Stadium): Kind of dumpy and not very much too look at (similar to their campus as a whole). Had magnets stolen off my car in one my previous visits.
10. Michigan State (Spartan Stadium): Way too many ramps to upper deck, steep sections, small bathrooms with long wait times, not enough concessions, etc. Plus, it's in East Lansing. Enough said.
I know that Bishop Gallagher closed a little more than a decade ago. They had merged with another school, changed their name, and after three years was closed permanently. Very sad since BG was my alma mater.
In my opinion, because of unbalanced conference schedules (including the 8 vs. 9 conference game schedule), they should not be putting so much emphasis on this. It's not like it's an eight team playoff where all the Power 5 Conferences receive an automatic bid. It should be the four best teams and head-to-head should matter more. For instance, if for some reason Alabama should be upset by Florida (not very likely, but anything is possible), they would not put a 9-3 Florida team (who will drop, at least slightly, from 14 following their loss at FSU) over a 12-1 Alabama team that has been dominant all season long. Although, this scenario would definitely have to change the committee's thinking going forward if they feel strongly about not leaving two quality squads that are not conference champions. I am cautiously hoping for the best, but not expecting much. I am definitely a Colorado and Virginia Tech fan this week!
I am going to share this with my brother, a Penn State fan, that continues to defend dear old JoePa. I have had a hard time breaking through his denial and have had to stop talking about it with him after awhile because it me makes sick to my stomach.
...considering that they had Maryland and Rutgers as their crossovers games the last two years. Their three crossover games are their first three conference games and after opening with LSU in Green Bay, they have two cupcakes at home before this opening six game conference slate: at MSU, at Michigan, OSU, at Iowa, Nebraska and at Northwestern. They will definitely have earned a trip to Indy if they do well with this schedule, let alone just quailifying for a bowl game! I'm looking to forward to our first game against them since 2010 and (hopefully) our first win since that comeback at Michigan Stadium in 2008.
Michigan went 5-2 against the other seeded teams; single wins against Oklahoma, Missouri and at UCLA and two wins at Florida State, with singles losses to Florida and Washington.
With the "east/west" setup, Michigan will always play the weaker teams and rarely play the better teams to the west. The only positive is that this schedule helps Michigan continue its dynasty in conference play. To me, baseball definitely has it better.
a team ranked #6 should never fall behind 5-1 to an 11 win team in March. There is also no reason that a top ten team like Michigan is supposed to be gives up 24 goals to an average OSU team that, although they are obviously playing better now than their 0-9 start, should still not be able to score that much on on a top level team, especially in March while winning the season series 2-1-1 and taking 8 of 12 points on the season. This team should be improving, not slumping at this time of the year if they are good enough to win anything of significance. I am grateful for all that Red did to resuscitate this program and take it to greatness, but a time comes when it's best to step aside and do what's best. I don't feel like he's decided what he's going to do, otherwise there would be a big send off planned for Saturday's game for which we would have already heard. Bottom line, this team is aggravately to watch and it's hard to see them winning much more this season, even if they do limp into the NCAA tournament. I was planning to go to Cincinnati if they were placed there, but now I think I'll skip it and go see the UM baseball team play in Evanston the following weekend.
... and convince the regents to allow the farmers to create an agriculture school (with perhaps plans to locate it off site in the future) so what would become MSU would never exist and we would not have to deal with our family members' and co-workers' BS during this time of year or ever. Or perhaps to mend the rift between Yost and Notre Dame before they became more of national university so we'd have more games against them and perhaps the 'Independent' Notre Dame would never evolve.
Assuming MSU loses to Ohio State and Michigan then beats OSU with all three winning their remaining games, this is what would happen:
1. All three would have a 1-1 record against the other two.
2. All three would be 5-1 in the East Division.
3. They would all be 1-0 aginst the rest of the teams in the division.
4. The only common opponent outside the division is Minnesota. Would MSU be left out because they don't play the Gophers?
5. Michigan would have to finish ahead of State in the poll following November 28, and be ahead of or within one of OSU (which would also have to be ranked ahead of MSU)
6. Michigan would be left out due to their loss to Utah.
I've seen at least one road win in person every season since 1994, except 2008 & 2009 (the teams only won one game total away from Ann Arbor anyway!) and Bloomington & Evanston have been the best places for me to catch a Michigan win (even the ugly ones!), where their record is 13-1. I will also note that 12 of the 19 times that I have been to a road a game that Michigan has lost have all come since 2008. I've been to every Big Ten school at least twice for a road game except Minnesota and the three newbies, which will change after October when I attend my first Little Brown Jug game outside of Michigan Stadium.

I had student season tickets in the mid-90s when the student section was really getting going to become what it is was to make Yost such an intimidating place to play for opposing teams, and I always loved that we filled then entire sideline behind the team benches (not including the visiting team's families). After reading all the posts, it got me thinking, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think those days might truly be over. Even having any student sideline seats is a bonus, I think. Having been to more than half of the Big Ten schools for hockey, this is not the norm. The Ohio State and Wisconsin students all sit in the endzone where the opposing team defends in periods one and three. At MSU, they wrap around the corner, much like at Yost these days. I haven't been to Minnesota or Penn State, but when we were considering going to Penn State in year one of the Big Ten, I recall seeing a seating chart that showed the PSU student section in one of the endzones. So, unfortunately, it appears that Michigan's student section was unique for a long time, but may never be set up the same way again. I hope that I am proven wrong.
Michigan and Wisconsin are scheduled to meet every year from 2016-2019. However, Michigan is only scheduled to face Nebraska once in that time span (2018). This is why a nine game schedule is necesssary in a 14 team conference, and even then you still don't face somes teams as much as would be liked by fans. The ACC and SEC need to get with it and move to a nine game conference schedule so schools like Wake Forest and UNC do not have to schedule this way.
Hopefully it will be PSU's home hockey game because it appears that Michigan will be sacrificing a home basketball game. Assuming the one and two plays will remain the same in a two year period, Michigan would play the one plays on the road next season that they are playing in Crisler this year and vice versa with this year's road games. Since the the teams only play once this season in State College, I would assume next year's game was slated to be played in Ann Arbor. That being said, I believe that I will try to go to NYC next year for these games. Michigan sports and NYC; what could be wrong with that!
Does Michigan have a chance on Saturday? Not very likely, but that's why they play the games. I would like nothing more, especially to shut up these smug Sparties at work.
...and I agree. In their minds it won't even be close. I just let them speak and politely nodded at times because at the moment I can't back up any thoughts or hopes I may have for a win in that game. One of them was fighting back a huge smile while they both agreed that State will "easily" score 50+ points on Michigan and will win by more than four touchdowns. We'll see. No matter, if Michigan wins, I will be the one fighting back the smile two weeks from today. It's about the history behind the name of the oldest major collegiate athletic conference in the country. The name wasn't even officially "Big Ten Conference" until 1987, after 70 years of being called the Big Ten by media and fans. (Its official name was "Intercollegiate Conference Athletic Association" or Western Conference, but the popular "Big Ten" nickname began after Michigan rejoined in 1917 to bring the conference to ten members which, except for a few years following Chicago's withdrawal and MSU's acceptance into the conference, it held steady at ten members until Penn State joined in 1990)
I'm okay with the number of members not matching the name; after all, the Big Ten is a destination for schools, not a place where you want to get out and join something better. From what I understand from the article is that he lied to his team about actually seeing the video, but one of the accused claims he showed it to Franklin. Franklin denies this. So either he's lying about seeing it or lied to team about seeing it. Either way, it looks bad. If he did actually see it from one of the four accused players, then he lied in his testimony. Which is not good for him or PSU going forward. Or he lied to his team at the time, which I don't get. What is the point with lying about something like that when it involves rape. No matter what his intentions were at the time, it just doesn't look good later when it all becomes public, and things like accused rape by an FBS football player(s) always will be news.
...but yes, everyone else that walks through the gate is counted. This includes the event staff, vendors, media, marching bands, etc. It also includes tickets sold, whether they are scanned or not. I knew that we'd be okay when I learned that a couple hundred member choir and the Miami marching band would be in attendence, plus the invited military members that took part in the pre-game celebration. However, I figured there'd be at least 100,500, but also it would be under 101,000. I was a a little surprised that there were almost 103,000. Like others have stated, I also expect that this will the lowest attended game this season.
This is very disturbing. I'm rooting for Rutgers Saturday and every one of their opponents this year (even OSU & MSU) hoping that they lose seven of their last ten so they can't go to a bowl game anyway. Let's win these for the kids.
The shrine to the old man where his statue once stood outside the stadium is proof of that. The majority of PSU fans are in such denial; they don't want to accept that the head coach and administrators were as much responsible as Sandusky since they enabled him to keep doing what he was doing. When I went to our game there last year and saw that shrine it made me sick; I could only think about what those poor kids had to endure and then thought of how it could have been my one of my nephews. You'd think if more people would consider that if could have been their sons and/or nephews, then they might pull their heads out of the sand!
I feel so strongly about this, especially when I think about my nephews. The football program was put above all else, no matter what anyone says. I understand that Penn State fans want to see the team have a chance to compete like every other school, and I also understand that the players and current staff had nothing to do with it, but I always felt that the death penalty was deserved for them allowing these horrific acts on innocent children to takes place for YEARS. The culture in place by the former coach was that football ruled and exposure by the scandal that would evolve if the 'secret' was revealed would ruin everything that had been built in State College by the football program. After all, people's livelihoods would be greatly affected by it. The raping of innocent children and the trauma it created was not as important as the ecomonic impact on the community. It also explains why he would not retire, even though there were rumors of him falling asleep during games in the press box. I feel like the coach (I can't even bring myself to say his name; it sickens me) was one of the biggest players in this drama. Taking action against Sandusky would ruin everything that he and his family had built in State College (they are treated like royalty, after all). The NCAA should have sent a stronger message in that putting a sports team above atrocities like this will not be tolerated, even if there is collateral damage. PSU and the State College community got off easy when a season (or two) was not canceled and now it feels like what these poor kids had to endure does not even matter.
I've been saying the same thing for months. Michigan Stadium records should only be broken at a Michigan event; it's Michigan venue & it's not like we don't continuously set new records. I lost count over the years at how many games I've been part of a new stadium record! Especially since I will not be attending the Winter Classic, please don't break the record. ;)
Only home game that I have missed in 22 years of attending Michigan football games. Would have an incredibly long attendance streak if not for missing that game, however I take solace in knowing that the weather sucked and Michigan lost the game. Gotta love weddings during football season... ;)
I did attend that one. I'd make it 2a. Downpours from the remnants of a hurricane. Too many turnovers by Michigan that gave Notre Dame easy points. Only loss to ND from 2006-2011.
1. 1995 Purdue: Day started warm with heavy rain, changed to sleet with the incoming cold front and then to snow. Field conditions were abyssmal.
2. 2008 Northwestern: Very cold stready rain. Gloves were needed, but then became soaked and were rendered useless. Only time I left a game early at Michigan Stadium when it was my choice.
3. 1995 at Indiana: Windchills in the mid-teens to early 20s for mid-October in Southern Indiana.
4. 1996 BC: Pouring rain for extended period of time that caused streams to flow down the cement steps at Michigan Stadium.
5. 1992 Illinois: Very cold. Poor field conditions. Possible snow (can't remember for sure). Too many fumbles by Michigan which resulted in a tie to an average Illini team ending Michigan's 19-game Big Ten Conference winning streak.
Bonus: 2007 EMU: Only makes my list because it was very hot and humid for the first Saturday in October.
but I checked the website yesterday and under Gameday Prohibited Items it is listed as ALL Seat Cushions and Seatbacks and the top of the page says it is updated for the 2013 season. I would be more inclined to go with the website, since the guides were printed who knows how long ago. I'm guessing that this will not be announced until after today when the price for the permanent seat cushions goes from $35 to $42 a seat. I also agree with the fact that what do non-season ticket holders do for a seat cushion. Doesn't seem fair.
I too am 40 and attend all home games and several road games each season. I love to have the seat cushion not only because it fills my given bench space, but it also aids in comfort when we do hit the sitting stages of the games. I already shell out enough for tickets and the right to buy tickets (aka "donation"); why should I be expected to pay $70 each season for seat cushions when I can pay $34 plus tax and uses them for many seasons to come? That money adds up after a decade. It just seems like easy way for Brandon to make additional money. How harmful is a non-zippered seat cushion coming into the stadium from the outside? You can do more with an electronic device like a cell phone or radio if you desire to cause harm to a great number of people, yet they are still allowed. Beside, I hate those seat cushions anyway; thay are too thick and make climbing up the benches harder when the aisles are crowded at the conclusion of a close game.
I would venture to guess that Brandon only agreed to the MSU/OSU home and away in the same seasons if the east division was guaranteed five home conference games in even years to offset the loss of both traditional rivals coming to Michigan Stadium.
State holds on to win game three 4-3 despite Alaska scoring twice in the final minutes. With reseeding, Michigan now heads to Lawson Arena to battle #3 seed WMU with a 24th consecutive trip to the Joe in the CCHA playoffs on the line. It looks like tickets are still available. Friday's game is 6:30 with Saturday and Sunday (if necessary) at 7:05. Let's get as many Michigan fans there to try to counter the Lawson Lunatics. Go Blue!
I left early only twice; back as as student in '93 at the Illinois game because the friend that was with me had to get back to CMU for work that night and the '08 Northwestern game because the cold rain was very unbearable and since I was leaving in a few days to go visit family for Thanksgiving, I didn't want to be sick for trip. I left the Illinois game with about five minutes left and the NU game at halftime; needless to ay Michigan was winning when I left both times, and wound up losing each game. Moral of the story: if I leave early and Michigan is winning, they will not be ahead when the clock says 0:00!
I was fortunate to meet Red and Lois in early 2006, and he was the nicest man. I asked him what the secret to his longevity was, and he told me it was exercising every single day. I'm sure most would agree that it's better said than done. A few months later, I saw him at a baseball game at Fisher Stadium, and after saying hello, he took me over to meet Jennie Ritter, the starting pticher on Michigan's 2005 national champion softball team. I also remember seeing him and Lois for several years after that sitting in their usual courtside seats at U of M women's basketball games. He was so kind and loved to talk to everyone, and I know that he will be very much missed by so many people, especially those of us in the Michigan community. Red Simmons, a "True Michigan Man".

I've seen at least one road win in person every season since 1994, except 2008 & 2009 (the teams only won one game total away from Ann Arbor anyway!) and Bloomington & Evanston have been the best places for me to catch a Michigan win (even the ugly ones!), where their record is 13-1. I will also note that 12 of the 19 times that I have been to a road a game that Michigan has lost have all come since 2008. I've been to every Big Ten school at least twice for a road game except Minnesota and the three newbies, which will change after October when I attend my first Little Brown Jug game outside of Michigan Stadium.

I've never been for softball, and never there this late in the season, but I don't think it will be too troublesome. There is a big parking area next to the main athletic campus, so your car should be safe. I'll be heading down, and hopefully there will be a fairly good size contingent of Michigan fans just as there was in Evanston last year. Plus, with OSU on the other side of the bracket (they are the 6th seed), Michigan may very well never even play them, so I don't expect many of their fans on hand when Michigan is playing (especially on Friday afternoon).

I had student season tickets in the mid-90s when the student section was really getting going to become what it is was to make Yost such an intimidating place to play for opposing teams, and I always loved that we filled then entire sideline behind the team benches (not including the visiting team's families). After reading all the posts, it got me thinking, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think those days might truly be over. Even having any student sideline seats is a bonus, I think. Having been to more than half of the Big Ten schools for hockey, this is not the norm. The Ohio State and Wisconsin students all sit in the endzone where the opposing team defends in periods one and three. At MSU, they wrap around the corner, much like at Yost these days. I haven't been to Minnesota or Penn State, but when we were considering going to Penn State in year one of the Big Ten, I recall seeing a seating chart that showed the PSU student section in one of the endzones. So, unfortunately, it appears that Michigan's student section was unique for a long time, but may never be set up the same way again. I hope that I am proven wrong.
Michigan and Wisconsin are scheduled to meet every year from 2016-2019. However, Michigan is only scheduled to face Nebraska once in that time span (2018). This is why a nine game schedule is necesssary in a 14 team conference, and even then you still don't face somes teams as much as would be liked by fans. The ACC and SEC need to get with it and move to a nine game conference schedule so schools like Wake Forest and UNC do not have to schedule this way.
Hopefully it will be PSU's home hockey game because it appears that Michigan will be sacrificing a home basketball game. Assuming the one and two plays will remain the same in a two year period, Michigan would play the one plays on the road next season that they are playing in Crisler this year and vice versa with this year's road games. Since the the teams only play once this season in State College, I would assume next year's game was slated to be played in Ann Arbor. That being said, I believe that I will try to go to NYC next year for these games. Michigan sports and NYC; what could be wrong with that!

...and I agree. In their minds it won't even be close. I just let them speak and politely nodded at times because at the moment I can't back up any thoughts or hopes I may have for a win in that game. One of them was fighting back a huge smile while they both agreed that State will "easily" score 50+ points on Michigan and will win by more than four touchdowns. We'll see. No matter, if Michigan wins, I will be the one fighting back the smile two weeks from today. No, forget that, if Michigan wins I will be smiling all week at my job, especially in front of the Sparties!
It's about the history behind the name of the oldest major collegiate athletic conference in the country. The name wasn't even officially "Big Ten Conference" until 1987, after 70 years of being called the Big Ten by media and fans. (Its official name was "Intercollegiate Conference Athletic Association" or Western Conference, but the popular "Big Ten" nickname began after Michigan rejoined in 1917 to bring the conference to ten members which, except for a few years following Chicago's withdrawal and MSU's acceptance into the conference, it held steady at ten members until Penn State joined in 1990)
I'm okay with the number of members not matching the name; after all, the Big Ten is a destination for schools, not a place where you want to get out and join something better. I'm sure that Penn State, Nebraska, Maryland and Rutgers could care about the semantics; they are all just happy to be there.

Let's not put the cart before the horse. As much as I or any of the thousands of other Michigan fans want him replaced, he still is the AD at Michigan. This discussion is very premature; let's wait and hope that the powers that be make the right decision and show him the door!
From what I understand from the article is that he lied to his team about actually seeing the video, but one of the accused claims he showed it to Franklin. Franklin denies this. So either he's lying about seeing it or lied to team about seeing it. Either way, it looks bad. If he did actually see it from one of the four accused players, then he lied in his testimony. Which is not good for him or PSU going forward. Or he lied to his team at the time, which I don't get. What is the point with lying about something like that when it involves rape. No matter what his intentions were at the time, it just doesn't look good later when it all becomes public, and things like accused rape by an FBS football player(s) always will be news.

...but yes, everyone else that walks through the gate is counted. This includes the event staff, vendors, media, marching bands, etc. It also includes tickets sold, whether they are scanned or not. I knew that we'd be okay when I learned that a couple hundred member choir and the Miami marching band would be in attendence, plus the invited military members that took part in the pre-game celebration. However, I figured there'd be at least 100,500, but also it would be under 101,000. I was a a little surprised that there were almost 103,000. Like others have stated, I also expect that this will the lowest attended game this season.
This is very disturbing. I'm rooting for Rutgers Saturday and every one of their opponents this year (even OSU & MSU) hoping that they lose seven of their last ten so they can't go to a bowl game anyway. Let's win these for the kids.
The shrine to the old man where his statue once stood outside the stadium is proof of that. The majority of PSU fans are in such denial; they don't want to accept that the head coach and administrators were as much responsible as Sandusky since they enabled him to keep doing what he was doing. When I went to our game there last year and saw that shrine it made me sick; I could only think about what those poor kids had to endure and then thought of how it could have been my one of my nephews. You'd think if more people would consider that if could have been their sons and/or nephews, then they might pull their heads out of the sand!
I feel so strongly about this, especially when I think about my nephews. The football program was put above all else, no matter what anyone says. I understand that Penn State fans want to see the team have a chance to compete like every other school, and I also understand that the players and current staff had nothing to do with it, but I always felt that the death penalty was deserved for them allowing these horrific acts on innocent children to takes place for YEARS. The culture in place by the former coach was that football ruled and exposure by the scandal that would evolve if the 'secret' was revealed would ruin everything that had been built in State College by the football program. After all, people's livelihoods would be greatly affected by it. The raping of innocent children and the trauma it created was not as important as the ecomonic impact on the community. It also explains why he would not retire, even though there were rumors of him falling asleep during games in the press box. I feel like the coach (I can't even bring myself to say his name; it sickens me) was one of the biggest players in this drama. Taking action against Sandusky would ruin everything that he and his family had built in State College (they are treated like royalty, after all). The NCAA should have sent a stronger message in that putting a sports team above atrocities like this will not be tolerated, even if there is collateral damage. PSU and the State College community got off easy when a season (or two) was not canceled and now it feels like what these poor kids had to endure does not even matter.
I've been saying the same thing for months. Michigan Stadium records should only be broken at a Michigan event; it's Michigan venue & it's not like we don't continuously set new records. I lost count over the years at how many games I've been part of a new stadium record! Especially since I will not be attending the Winter Classic, please don't break the record. ;)
Only home game that I have missed in 22 years of attending Michigan football games. Would have an incredibly long attendance streak if not for missing that game, however I take solace in knowing that the weather sucked and Michigan lost the game. Gotta love weddings during football season... ;)
I did attend that one. I'd make it 2a. Downpours from the remnants of a hurricane. Too many turnovers by Michigan that gave Notre Dame easy points. Only loss to ND from 2006-2011.
1. 1995
Mine in order:
1. 1995 Purdue: Day started warm with heavy rain, changed to sleet with the incoming cold front and then to snow. Field conditions were abyssmal.
2. 2008 Northwestern: Very cold stready rain. Gloves were needed, but then became soaked and were rendered useless. Only time I left a game early at Michigan Stadium when it was my choice.
3. 1995 at Indiana: Windchills in the mid-teens to early 20s for mid-October in Southern Indiana.
4. 1996 BC: Pouring rain for extended period of time that caused streams to flow down the cement steps at Michigan Stadium.
5. 1992 Illinois: Very cold. Poor field conditions. Possible snow (can't remember for sure). Too many fumbles by Michigan which resulted in a tie to an average Illini team ending Michigan's 19-game Big Ten Conference winning streak.
Bonus: 2007 EMU: Only makes my list because it was very hot and humid for the first Saturday in October.

but I checked the website yesterday and under Gameday Prohibited Items it is listed as ALL Seat Cushions and Seatbacks and the top of the page says it is updated for the 2013 season. I would be more inclined to go with the website, since the guides were printed who knows how long ago. I'm guessing that this will not be announced until after today when the price for the permanent seat cushions goes from $35 to $42 a seat. I also agree with the fact that what do non-season ticket holders do for a seat cushion. Doesn't seem fair.
I too am 40 and attend all home games and several road games each season. I love to have the seat cushion not only because it fills my given bench space, but it also aids in comfort when we do hit the sitting stages of the games. I already shell out enough for tickets and the right to buy tickets (aka "donation"); why should I be expected to pay $70 each season for seat cushions when I can pay $34 plus tax and uses them for many seasons to come? That money adds up after a decade. It just seems like easy way for Brandon to make additional money. How harmful is a non-zippered seat cushion coming into the stadium from the outside? You can do more with an electronic device like a cell phone or radio if you desire to cause harm to a great number of people, yet they are still allowed. Beside, I hate those seat cushions anyway; thay are too thick and make climbing up the benches harder when the aisles are crowded at the conclusion of a close game.
I would venture to guess that Brandon only agreed to the MSU/OSU home and away in the same seasons if the east division was guaranteed five home conference games in even years to offset the loss of both traditional rivals coming to Michigan Stadium.
State holds on to win game three 4-3 despite Alaska scoring twice in the final minutes. With reseeding, Michigan now heads to Lawson Arena to battle #3 seed WMU with a 24th consecutive trip to the Joe in the CCHA playoffs on the line. It looks like tickets are still available. Friday's game is 6:30 with Saturday and Sunday (if necessary) at 7:05. Let's get as many Michigan fans there to try to counter the Lawson Lunatics. Go Blue!
I left early only twice; back as as student in '93 at the Illinois game because the friend that was with me had to get back to CMU for work that night and the '08 Northwestern game because the cold rain was very unbearable and since I was leaving in a few days to go visit family for Thanksgiving, I didn't want to be sick for trip. I left the Illinois game with about five minutes left and the NU game at halftime; needless to ay Michigan was winning when I left both times, and wound up losing each game. Moral of the story: if I leave early and Michigan is winning, they will not be ahead when the clock says 0:00!
I was fortunate to meet Red and Lois in early 2006, and he was the nicest man. I asked him what the secret to his longevity was, and he told me it was exercising every single day. I'm sure most would agree that it's better said than done. A few months later, I saw him at a baseball game at Fisher Stadium, and after saying hello, he took me over to meet Jennie Ritter, the starting pticher on Michigan's 2005 national champion softball team. I also remember seeing him and Lois for several years after that sitting in their usual courtside seats at U of M women's basketball games. He was so kind and loved to talk to everyone, and I know that he will be very much missed by so many people, especially those of us in the Michigan community. Red Simmons, a "True Michigan Man".
I am inclined to believe that is has not been set since the athletic department is always on top of game times, especially for football.
I am going to Champaign and I am so sick of all these noon games (11 Central) this year.
