That's been my pick and I've been saying it to anyone who will listen. It's usually met with "who?" He's the next Brian Kelly, and he's not a complete asshole. He's 46, successful and knows the state.
A fiery, young, up-and-comer from Miami(OH) wouldn't be without precedent....

So sick of the Harbaugh crap, it's not happening. Neither is Les Miles - which is good because it's a terrible idea.
No legit, current BCS/Power5/whateverit'scalled head coach is coming here either.
Who's left? Unproven guys.
Chuck Martin is the answer.

No. He dead now. RIP in peace Shane

Or, Michigan could have called a timeout and gotten Gardner back in. The ref even gave Hoke an eternity before starting the play clock, going "Are you fucking kidding me?!?

Twice. He inherited a talented Florida team from Zook, who was a phenomenal recruiter.

Is this only because #2 is the obvious choice for the next legend jersey, though? I wouldn't bet against it happening in the near future. Wow factor, added value proposition, etc. etc.

What's most amazing about his 7 Norris trophies is that he probably should have won 8 or 9 of them instead. He won the Norris trophy 7 out of the 10 years it was awarded between 2000 and 2011. A strong argument could be made for him winning it any of the four years previous to that when it went to Leetch, Blake, MacInnis, and Pronger. He just wasn't putting up the flashy offensive numbers at that point in his career yet. He was far more solid defensively than any of those guys.

It isn't, but by default it seems to be the case. I'm not aware of any teams running big, twin TE and FB sets up-tempo regularly. It's mostly spread outfits.
I kind of wonder if it would work though. How damaging could Stanford's offense be with Indiana's tempo?
|33 weeks 6 hours ago||Does there have to be?||
Does there have to be? I don't know that an exhausting study needs to be done, it seems like a logical conclusion to me. On every play there is a chance of a player being injured. More plays, more chances. Isn't it that simple or am I missing something here?
|33 weeks 5 days ago||Interesting line of thought||
I had never thought of the Miami/Ross thing before. I'd much prefer to play Florida there than another game at Jerryworld. I doubt they would go for such a thing though, just as I'm not sure Michigan would play at Soldier Field. I can totally see a Boston or NYC thing happening though. Interesting thought.

At least Russia only has to embarrassed about this for the next two years. This is just the appetizer to main course of clusterfuck that will be 2016 Rio.
|34 weeks 3 days ago||Re: Lloyd||
This isn't the same as what Lloyd Carr allegedly did, it's not nearly as bad. These are kids making a major decision about the next 4-5 years of their lives and beyond. The head coach who recruited them was retired, he may be a bit upset and is telling them to take a good look around before signing anything.
That's not nearly as bad as doing the same thing to players already in the program - in some cases for years.

Rape culture. I knew that buzz phrase would be coming if you posted long enough. Your borderline hysteria gave it away.
The overall theme of your argument seems to be that a young man's default position is rape. Only by using every conceivable opportunity to point out rape culture can we correct this.
"Hey don't forget fellas, no raping!"
It's pretty damn offensive to those of us who know rape is wrong, and who raise sons that know rape is wrong.
|46 weeks 4 days ago||But...||
But but but RichRod beat Georgia!
I couldn't care less what a coach did at a Mickey Mouse school in a Mickey Mouse conference. Put a Michigan football team on the field that progresses instead of regresses from week to week or gtfo.
|47 weeks 4 days ago||Good points, but I can't||
Good points, but I can't recall multiple screens in every game. Off the top of my head I only remember a failed tunnel screen against PSU as well as a throwback and WR screen against Indiana. Confirmation bias on my part, or have there been a lot of others?
|1 year 3 weeks ago||This reeks of bullshit||
This reeks of bullshit to me. Some asshole brah tries to be edgy thinking he's funny, rightfully gets heat for it, and then tries to rationalize his way out of the hard spot he put himself in. He wasn't trying to draw attention to anything but himself. Fuck him and his "Michigan difference" arrogant grandstanding. He's an embarrassment.
|1 year 5 weeks ago||Odd||
Odd that there's one on offense and three on defense. Assume there was a three-way tie on D or close to it?
As for Devin, he's the undisputed starting quarterback, he's a defacto leader on the team, captain or not. Nice to see some of the other guys get some official recognition.
|1 year 6 weeks ago||Re: Oregon game||
Perhaps what you're thinking of is the comment that Carr made in the post-game presser; Something along the lines of "Maybe the game has just passed me by." IIRC, it wasn't until late November that it was officially announced. The writing was certainly on the wall after his post Oregon comments, but there was nothing official at that point.
|1 year 7 weeks ago||I have a||
I have a sneaking suspicion that Norfleet will get more carries now, out of the slot, than he ever would have had burried on the depth chart at HB behind all the moosebacks now on the roster. Motioning him into, or through, the backfield adds another dimension for defenses to adjust to, and I don't think an occasional handoff is out of the question.
|1 year 7 weeks ago||I disagree||
I disagree. I don't think you go to all the touble of putting the numbers back in circulation, having a special ceremony for the families, a special patch, a special locker, etc etc all to just...not use them.
|1 year 9 weeks ago||Thank you!||
Glad someone finally said it. Look, I'm excited the kid committed. I'm looking forward to him being a Wolverine, but let's give him some time to finish high school before we declare him the next Anthony Carter. Sophomore 5*'s don't always pan out. See: Miller, Ricardo.

What would you prefer, the same tired circlejerking about politics, unions, and race that comprises the discussions of this topic everywhere else on the 'net? Try Mlive.
|1 year 11 weeks ago||Was about to post the same thing||
I was about to post the same thing. Unintended consequences indeed. It makes the concept of "lighting him up" quite literal. By doing this, you're giving defensive players something to aim for, a tangible measurement of how "effective" they are at devastating hits. You best believe an NFL rookie looking for that last roster spot, or a redshirt freshman linebacker looking for some recognition and playing time is going to try to make any TE or WR coming over the middle light up like a Christmas tree.

"My little boy! Watch the little boy!"
Your little boy would be just fine if you weren't assaulting an air marshall for doing her job you stupid bitch. Teaching him some great lessons in personal responsibility there, I'm sure he'll grow into a productive and law-abiding member of society with that thing for a parent. Poor kid never had a chance.

Watch them flip the schedules for 2015 and then make Michigan travel to Lincoln or Madison in 2016 (in addition to Columbus and EL) while getting Illinois or some such garbage as the home crossover.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Sounds about right.||
I think that's a pretty fair assessment of what's gone on, though I don't think the effect has been limited to just blue-collar workers. They've certainly felt the brunt of it.
As to your question further up, about a solution. I don't know, and I won't pretend to. I don't feel it's a sustainable trend, but I share your sentiment that no good is done by simply demonizing those on one end of the spectrum. It's a more complex problem than that.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Is the problem there on the||
Is the problem there on the top end, or the bottom end, though? Put another way, is the 400:1 ratio because executive compensation is out of control, or because the average worker's wage has stagnated (or even decreased from inflation) over those years?
