Am I correct in that Michigan's defense has given up 2 tds in 16 quarters. Pretty remarkable, considering Alabama and how Nd is getting high marks for theory defense...they've held opponents to 0 tds in 16 quarters

Probably good you waited a few days to post this.  I appreciate your insight to have a gauge of what the outside world thinks of the program.  My biggest confusion lies in your choice of favorite programs.  I'm trying to be rational here: I see a little bit of myself in the Michigan program; I like how they are coached and how the players hold them selves to high esteem in the media.  I like who they are as NFL players and I really enjoy the Big House game day atmosphere.  I like the iconic uniforms and helmets.  

But, what do you like about MSU?  If it's a proximity thing, I would think the choice would between Michigan or OSU?  If you are an alum (or family) ok, I get that, question answered.  I just can't watch Sparty games and think....yeah...that's my team right there...

I just want to drink the Kool-Aid and love this team to death.  They are just AWESOME to watch, grow, and listen to.

If any of you have the College Football Encyclopedia presented by ESPN that might shed some light on the game stats.  I'll check mine when I'm home from work today and provide an update.

I'm in PA making my first trip to Ann Arbor for 3 games (WMU, SDSU, and Nebraska).  I've been to 3 away games '06 PSU '08 PSU and '10 PSU.  It's interesting, I've seen the career school record holder in rushing yds (Hart), passing yards (Henne), team with the worst school record in 50 years ('08) and Denard ('10).  A lot of up and down for me-but worth every dollar.

You know far more about the site then I do.  I have two questions: 1) can we conduct an online live draft on their website, or will we need to do that through another medium (chat, tango, googledocs, etc.)? 2) How do you set up bye weeks for a 10 team league? Rather than  play 1 team twice, I'd rather have a bye.  Or is there a better way to resolve this?

OP--I don't claim to know a lot about the QB position; but looking at Denard's throwing motion looks pretty similar on deep balls from last year.  

The write-up is saying that Daryl Stonum is back from suspension.  Did I miss something?

For all the talent we have here at MGoBlog, I struggle paying for any outside recruiting services.  You also have to think, the people that report here to this site have a strong interest in Michigan athletics.  Maybe it's just me, but I trust people on this site regarding recruiting then some random _______ reporter who has to cover an entire area of the country/conference.

Most recently, Ferrigno served as the wide receivers coach at California during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. With his assistance, the Bears posted a 10-3 record in 2006 en route to the Holiday Bowl championship and a No. 14 final ranking in the AP poll. That was followed by a 7-6 record and an Armed Forces Bowl title in 2007. In 2006, California scored 280 points in Pac-10 play, the second-highest total in school history.

California wide receiver DeSean Jackson ranked 20th nationally in receiving yards per game and caught a Pac-10-best nine touchdowns in 2006. He ended the season with 1,060 receiving yards and earned first-team all-conference honors.

Prior to his work in Berkeley, Ferrigno was the wide receivers coach at Oregon from 2001-05. During that five-year period, the Ducks advanced to four bowl games aided by 23, 100-yard receiving performances. He helped develop Keenan Howry into Oregon's first first-team all-Pac-10 wide receiver in 16 seasons. He also coached Oregon's all-time leading receiver, Samie Parker.

As a tight ends coach, Ferrigno helped develop Tony Gonzalez while serving as his position coach at California. A first-team all-Pac-10 selection, Gonzalez was the 13th overall pick of the Kansas City Chiefs, where he has become an NFL All-Pro tight end.

Regardless of all of the individual grades it just feels like our defense is playing better than last year.  Last week, another commenter wrote that the defense looks like a young, inexperienced SEC defense.  No SEC FOOTBAW!!11 love here, but I sort of agree.

If I remember correctly there was an injured Michigan player in the first half but the camera never showed his number.  I forgot about that in all the excitement, but just a wild guess here that the player was Mike.  With surgery, I hear that injuries like this can heal in 4-6 weeks, again just a guess though.

Not that it matters, but I live in the town where Yuengling is made and went to school with the daughter of the company.

-ND offense looked better in the first half then the second, whatever that means. 

-Why would Purdue have a 4 man D-line and drop one into coverage?  That DT had zero depth and was basically useless. I understand schematically why you would do that, but it was so unsuccessul with there already poor pass rush. 

-On the other hand, blitzing Crist seems like a great idea because of his indecision and long developing WR routes.  Did anyone else catch how long it took Floyd and that Komara (sp?) kid to get into their patterns.  The only problem I see is Armando Allen killing us with draws and a few of those cheap shuffle passes.

-I only counted 2 plays where Purdue brought 4 (similiar to our 4-4 under look) with a running back next to Crist where the play gained 5+ yards...both were Cierre Wood.

-RR can out-coach Kelly here and get a win.

I love how everyone is flipping out.  We all wanted to expand--and we all want OUR school to have it perfect.  Let's face it people, it isn't going to work out purrrrrrrfectly (7 r's) for every school, and remember there are 15+ varsity sports that need scheduling too.  You want the Game at the end of the year, you have it.  IT'S COLLEGE FUCKING FOOTBALL, every game matters--all the pundits agree NCAAF has the most meaningful regular season.

Agreed.  Writing off the season before it begins is absolutely being a shitty fan.  HOWEVA, I am so pumped for this season that I take BC's depressing, rekindling of shit memories in the same way that certain movies, shows, and books build momentum for a final battle by showcasing all that the characters have gone through until that point.

When we watched the 5 minute clip during a new south park episode last year before the series began, I think everyone looked around the room and said, "wtf?" But I'm really glad FX has picked up another 12 episodes for the fall.
