Good lord. "Wise Up" is on…

Good lord. "Wise Up" is on the playlist? Never thought Michigan Football would deliver the same existential melancholia as Magnolia, but yes, yes it has.

Hmmph. I think I'll wait for…

Hmmph. I think I'll wait for Counterstrike guy to weigh in on this before believing. I mean I wasn't born yesterday.

I don't understand why on…

I don't understand why on earth Shaka Smart would want to retain Luke Yaklich. Everyday he'd be looking over his shoulder at a potential successor who's more popular with the fanbase from the start.

I also don't hate the idea of Shaka as coach. I'd rather go with Juwan or Yaklich though.

Hahahahahahaha

Hahahahahahaha

Stop hyperventilating about…

Stop hyperventilating about Warde. He bungled Beilein's contract extension a bit by not having a buy out. That still wouldn't have kept JB here and would have left us with the same shitty timing for a coaching search. No matter what he's 100x better than Brandon.

In theory, this is “Hell…

In theory, this is “Hell yeah!”

In practice, it looks like this weak ass shit: https://www.change.org/p/jim-delaney-get-referee-john-o-neill-and-his-team-fired

"As we know, John Beilein…

"As we know, John Beilein prides himself on his team’s ability to play tough defense."

This makes me smile. Imagine reading this two years ago!

Ah, Barstool Sports. Truly…

Ah, Barstool Sports. Truly the Brett Kavanaugh of third-rate sports blogs.

Consistent, adj, unchanging…

Consistent, adj, unchanging in nature, standard, or effect over time.

MSU's 2012 record: 7-6

MSU's 2016 record: 3-9

I guess we have different definitions of the word "consistent"...

Also, you're using "Jimmy" snidely, and don't pretend you're not. You can call him what you want obvs, but I can eyeroll it all I want chief...

"Jimmy" lol

"Jimmy" lol

MSU looks eminently beatable…

MSU looks eminently beatable. If we hadn't gone out and laid an egg against a ranked opponent (again), the in-state football story would have been Sparty's close call against Utah State.

And look at you, calling the coach Jimmy, like you're old pals or something. GTFO

But Shea did take a couple…

But Shea did take a couple sacks that were almost O'Kornsian in their foolishness... In fact, Flutie pointed it out when the second one happened: mobile quarterbacks often think they can rescue the play with their feet (paraphrasing).

Warde, you had one job when…

Warde, you had one job when it came to this. Get off the OSU/MSU h/h a/a schedule. Can't believe this nightmare continues.

My prediction?

My prediction?

Valenti's been his usual…

Valenti's been his usual self, concern trolling the UM fan base, but the others who lick his boots have been even more ridiculous.

I've found myself routinely…

I've found myself routinely yelling at The Ticket hosts over the past 3 weeks for soliciting all that garbage. 10-2 with those two losses would be fine with me as long as we are competitive in the losses.

I predict THUNDERDOME. Two…

I predict THUNDERDOME. Two men enter, one man leaves. Nah, he's getting off with time served or maybe missing week one at best.

Good lord his thighs are…

Good lord his thighs are thicc.

2007 Mercedes E 350 with only 89K miles for $10,000 (ok, this is five figures, but only by a buck)

Sticking to the rules, here's a 2009 Dodge Charger for $7,222 - relatively low miles 125,000 for a 10 year old car

When at a fast food…

When at a fast food restaurant, ask for a slight change to your sandwich (extra pickles, no lettuce, etc.) so they can't give you what's been sitting under the heatlamp for the past hour.

True: If you're trying to…

True: If you're trying to save money by cutting the cord, it's not going to happen because Comcast runs up their internet only subscription. But I still urge all to do so, because the cable service they provide is the worst.

I switched to Playstation…

I switched to Playstation Vue (which carries BTN) last year and haven't regretted it once. Once you throw in my other streaming services Netflix and Prime, I still end up paying the same as I did for Comcast cable, but I don't have to deal with stunts like this or the cruddy service that Comcast provides.

I’d say K, Williams, Cal, I’d say K, Williams, Cal, Self, Wright, Few. I’d take Beilein over all of ‘em.
As we already knew Once Shea was cleared, it all comes down to the O line how far this team will go. Well, that and the play calling.
Would have loved this Seeing as my UM spring commencement speaker in 1995 was the creator of the Cathy comic strip (a UM alum but perhaps the lamest choice ever), Charles Woodson would basically be Jesus mixed with MLK. But alas I can’t make it.
Not how I read it

I think you misread the rule. It has to be called fair catch before the player has caught the ball. You can't catch it at the 5, take a knee at the 10, and have it moved up to the 25. It's basically making kick-offs more like punts, except it moves it up to the 25.

This is a rather simplistic

This is a rather simplistic view of recruiting. First of all, we have a top 5 class next year, which correct me if I'm wrong means that the incoming freshmen in our top 5 class were in 7th or 8th grade when we made the 2013 finals. That's not a bump to you?

Second, we made the finals again this year with your "bubcus".

Third, MSU had a few one and dones the last two years (I'm including Bridges even though he came back), and they were hot trash.

I think the basketball program is doing just fine, tyvm.

I see a lot of people have

I see a lot of people have told you that you're wrong and / or crazy.

I will be another. You don't even have Teske on the two deep, lol. It's one thing to say that the lineup by January "could" look like this, but you said it "should" look like this, and that's placing a lot of faith on freshmen who haven't played a minute of college basketball.

I think the January lineup is more likely to be:

Simpson / Brooks / Dejulius

Poole / Watson / Nunez

Matthews / Iggy

Livers / Johns

Teske / Davis / Castleton

I'd also guess that Castleton (and Nunez) could possibly redshirt if not ready for the college game.

Yes.

Seems like a foregone conclusion with Moe. Beilein took him out with Robinson and MAAR for a reason.

I think we'll be good, but

I think we'll be good, but your two comments about Teske / Moe and Livers / Robinson swaps improving the defense are not necessarily true. Teske helps with rim protection but his feet are slower than Moe's, so therefore he can't get out as quickly on stretch 5s (like he had to last night). Also, Robinson improved greatly on post defense over the course of the year. Wasn't nearly the liability it was at the beginning.

You know how I know these aren't necessarily improvements? Because they weren't made this season.

Thank you

When Michigan wins, I now have the stats to pepper into my work and family conversations tomorrow morning.

Fake news?

You mean the one post that had three whole pictures from film session and lunch in which you can't even see the whole room? Because in the practice photos you can't even see who's in the huddles. If you have some inside dope, then that's fine, but don't use Twitter as your source.

(Adding: I believe this video was shot at the last practice, and he's there. So get out of here with your crap rumor.)

3>2

Let him drive and stay home on the shooters.

(Adding: not sure if Brunson can beat us on his own; in 3 of their 4 losses, he had a huge game. Seems the better bet will be to limit their three point shooting. Only loss of Villanova's when they shot the lights out was against Butler, who shot even more lights out.)

Agree that we can win this.

Agree that we can win this. But while defense helps, offense wins championships. Otherwise, we'd be getting set to watch Virginia v. Villanova.

Probably the same as Kenpom's

Probably the same as Kenpom's record.

No matter what happens...

Wagner (probably leaping over the announcers table) and Poole are going to feature in One Shining Moment. But I'd really like us to win this thing. Go Blue!

Not surprised

After the performance Villanova put in on a fellow one seed, and our offense going mostly AWOL for 4 of 5 games, I'm not surprised those who get paid to prognosticate would go with them. That's okay because the end result doesn't rely on what they think.

Just read the answers

They're much better than the post itself.

All but one

I would root for any Big Ten team except MSU. For OSU I wouldn't give a shit, because it's basketball not football, but I wouldn't actively root for the other team like I would for MSU.

Brooklyn sports bar A class of 2011 alum recently opened a sports bar in Brooklyn and is hosting a Michigan fans viewing party. I haven’t been there so can’t vouch but there’s a Facebook event post. https://www.facebook.com/events/180713402652307/?ti=icl
Double post

Double post

(That's how long this week is.)

Also

Also: why is it only Wednesday damn it? This week is soooo loooong.

not overlooking Saturday

While I am not overlooking Saturday's game (honest), I am giddy at the thought of watching Simpson guard Brunson or Graham on Monday night.

Medcalf

Year after year, Myron Medcalf is the worst ESPN writer / prognosticator come March. It's true he sets himself up by penning his notoriously awful "Predictions sure to go wrong" features, but even when it's not pure clowning, it's real crap content. Can't understand how he's kept a job after two years of constant layoffs at the worldwide leader.

It's Blue in there...

After a recent visit to the doctor, my toddler son has been interested in blood, regularly pointing to his body and asking me "Is it red in there?"

Last week instead of my usual "yes" answer, I jokingly said in response, "Heck no boy, we bleed Maize and Blue."

So now my son is asking "Daddy, is it blue in there?"

Damn straight it's blue in there.

Narrative The media is setting up a David vs Goliath storyline to push the Loyola Cinderella story to the masses, and so we need to play our part and be the Goliath.

It’s all a bunch of bs.
Duke and Villanova Because it gives me a shot to win my pool if Michigan wins it all.
We beat FSU in the 1997 NIT

We beat FSU in the 1997 NIT championship game. I was there in Madison Square Garden for the win. Steve Fisher was still coach.

They gave up 90 points to

They gave up 90 points to Syracuse? Granted, it was a double overtime game, but that suggests a porous defense to me given what we just saw Syracuse look like against Sparty.

If you’re saying play small If you’re saying play small ball without Moe or Teske at the 5, that’s a recipe for being down 18-0 in first 4 minutes on a barrage of dunks, alley oops and post ups.
