Even though the pass rush didn't get home, what Ruiz did looks concerning to me. His man does a slightly delayed stunt and, instead of passing him off, Ruiz seems to chase him, thereafter being in no position to do anything useful. Comments?
It's easy to take for granted the many high-quality pieces that we see here, and I just wanted to say how much I enjoy (and look forward to) reading Best and Worst.
"I don’t think they are one of the two best teams in the Big Ten East, but I won’t be surprised in the least if they go 1-1 against Michigan State and Ohio State."

We are in the NE part of Ann Arbor (not walking distance to the stadium) - but we'll include a ride to and from the stadium area, as well as breakfast.
... but at least he is a legitimate threat to throw the ball. Gardner just looked so awkward throwing last week, and as many have noted, was short a lot. To quote UFR: "this is a broken QB"
True that Morris' results last week were also poor, but given the situation, it's hard to say with conviction that he'll be that way in the first quarter of a 0-0 game.
Most important of all: we just need a damn break!!! And seven is such a lucky number.
... that two years ago I swore that I would not spend another dime on UM athletics as long as Dave Brandon is around, I decided that the team needs me, so I bought a couple of tickets on StubHub.
The most logical explanation, to me, is that they have had too many other things to fix, in a limited amount of available time, and that the punt formation did not make it high enough on the priority list to get addressed.
What puzzles me is, if that were true, why not just say it?
The rating was said to reflect the entire staff, not just the head coach. Here was what they said about UM:
"Michigan: (HC-Brady Hoke 47-50, .484 in eight years, OC-Al Borges, DC-Greg Mattison) - Do not be fooled by the sub-.500 career record. Hoke led Ball State to a 12-victory season in 2008 while the nine victories at San Diego State last year were three more than any other Aztec season in the decade. Throw in a couple of veteran coordinators, including former Irish defensive leader Mattison, and the Wolverines should have the stability that was missing throughout the brief Rich Rodriguez era."
This description sounds more positive than the numerical rating, Shrug.
...that we have the same chance of beating Wisconsin at home as we do beating Minnesota on the road (29%, link). To me, the latter feels more likely, but I'll be there to watch us try for the former.
This is a game that I discovered last week and am totally hooked. You play it like Scrabble, asynchronously, either with people whom you know or (more likely) with complete strangers. Players make moves as time permits, so a game could take hours or even days. This could get boring if you only played one game at a time, but you are allowed to play up to 20 simultaneous games, so you almost always have active games that are waiting for yor next move.
The interface is very professional and it has been pretty stable so far.
WWF (got to love that acronym) is available for iPad/iPhone and I think it has just been released for Android. AFAIK, there is not a web browser version. I am not sure if this is an intentional omission or if they just haven't gotten there yet (more likely the latter, IMO).
This has replaced Crosswords as main treadmill activity (at least, for now).
They defended the inbounds play under the basket much better
JB called time out to stop MSU runs really quickly...much more so, I think, than usual
Novak and Douglass are taking 3-point shots from a few feet behind the 3-pt line, where they are more likely to be open than if they are right at the line
...the athletic department is still fully accountable for its actions to the people of the State of Michigan through the Regents, regardless of the source of their funds. You can bet your last dollar that when David Brandon was a Regent, he would have had no problem demanding an expanation for anything from the AD.
...has played two lousy games in a row so far this year. Next game is NU...will be tough, but winnable with the kind of effort shown against Kansas and OSU.

We're all still behind you, Ace.
Kudos!
Actually, no ... I wanted to catch up on Space Coyote.

I'm part of an ongoing clinical trial that may apply.

Possibly the best of them all, IMO.
Cheers...
How about it mods?
You are a credit to your blog!
Maybe reading defenses is overrated.
Phil Jackson did OK ....
My bad ... I thought that he was referring to Michigan, not MSU.
No, that changed as of this morning.
... but by this time of year, you are what you are, and this is not an NCAA tourney caliber team.
I was at the game last night (with a few dozen others, or so)
Mo was impressive. If he's going to become a focal point for the offense, though, his FT percentage will need to get better.

20-13 Michigan

... thanks for the correction. The real quote was even better.
... was, when Huge asked about his recent trip to the Normandy beaches, he talked about "the pride of winning back-to-back World Wars".
...I got two from StubHub. Row B, behind the M bench.
It will be a lovely day no matter what.

Section 39, way up at nosebleed level.
Go Blue!

If I'm more concerned about kicking than I am about the offensive line, or Devin Gardner, or the DBs, then we must be in decent shape, right?
It's time for the coaching staff to prove itself.
what bluesalt said
...now it's back to -4.5
Does anyone know if it's usual to be moving so much at this time?
...but Satchel's on Washtenaw (next to Whole Foods) is hands-down the best BBQ in town.
Zingerman's is the obvious choice for a unique A2 food experience
Nice sit-down meal: Zola (fries with house-made ketchup are special)
Best burger (IMO): Casey's, by the train station
Well, Blimpy is special, too....but a different species of burger
...maybe not the right solution for everyone, but works well for me.
...that turns people into morons?
My tickets are in 206. The view is fine. Lower bowl is better, of course, but you won't miss anything.
...but "Hoke Smash" is just plain douchey
Just to be clear, the interview was done after Thursday's practice, not after today's scrimmage...
...two one-tech DTs. They seem to be so much harder to come by, at least for UM.

There are clearly needs at all of the positions mentioned, but at this point my order of concerns is:
1. DT
2. WR
3. QB

...winning two of these:
That should be enough.
A few examples that I noticed:
...how much work lies ahead in this offensive transition.
IMO, getting 7 wins would be a significant accomplishment.
This would be a good question to ask again after the spring game, and seeing if it looks like chaos or football.

I couldn't get the FF extension loaded..."download error" from the source site...
This looks like a Chrome-specific plug-in...is that right?
Anything equivalent for FF users? Just asking....
Looks good!
...this is simply regurgitation of old conversation....not a quote from the Governor (or anyone else, for that matter).
Could it happen someday? Sure.
Is there any reason to think that it is even under serious consideration? Not that I can see.
